The best hotels in Mount Dora are small and personal: an 1880s inn on the shore of Lake Dora, a Victorian bed and breakfast, two historic suite properties a short walk from Donnelly Park, and two chain hotels out on US 441. None of them is a resort, and that is a big part of the appeal.
Mount Dora sits in Lake County, northwest of Orlando, roughly 30 miles by road from downtown Orlando and about an hour from Magic Kingdom without traffic. That makes it a great one- or two-night escape from a theme park trip, or a weekend of antiques, lake cruises and festivals that you can slot into your Orlando itinerary.
Below are six places we checked against their own websites and Booking.com listings, plus three B&Bs you book direct.
Quick answer: For the classic Mount Dora stay, book the Lakeside Inn, the lakefront hotel that dates to 1883, with a pool, lake-view dining and free parking. Couples who want breakfast included should look at Heron Cay Lakeview Bed & Breakfast. Groups and longer stays do better in the kitchen suites at The Heirloom Inn or the multi-room Estate at Mount Dora. For a pool, free hot breakfast and Hilton points, the Hampton Inn Mount Dora is about 2.5 miles from downtown.

How we chose these hotels in Mount Dora
Mount Dora has a short list of real hotels, so this is not a ranking by score. We kept places that:
- Are in Mount Dora itself, walkable to downtown or a few minutes away on US 441.
- Are operating and bookable on Booking.com at the time of writing. We confirmed the Lakeside Inn on its own website, which posts a 2026 Thanksgiving menu.
- Publish their amenities and policies (breakfast, parking, pets) on an official website or brand page.
- Offer something distinct: lakefront history, a B&B breakfast, a kitchen, group space or a brand with a pool.
We left out private vacation homes and duplicate listings. Drive times come from OSRM road routing without traffic. Rates vary by season, availability and how far ahead you book, and they rise on festival weekends.

1. Lakeside Inn

The Lakeside Inn is Mount Dora’s landmark. The inn says it was built in 1883 and bills itself as the oldest continuously operating hotel in Florida. Its five yellow-and-white buildings sit on landscaped grounds that slope down to a white-sand stretch of the Lake Dora shoreline, with a 200-foot verandah lined with rocking chairs, a large lakefront pool and two docks. Downtown’s shops and restaurants are about 0.3 mile away by road.
The 90 rooms and suites are spread across the Lakeside, Gables, Terrace and Sunset Cottage buildings. Options run from the original, slightly smaller Inn Queen rooms to Florida and Courtyard rooms with a king or two doubles, Inn Suites with a parlor and sofa sleeper, and king Lakefront Rooms with a panoramic lake view. Expect a genuinely old building: the inn warns that floors creak and there are no elevators.
- Why stay: It is the only full-service hotel on this list, with The Beauclaire dining room, lake-view meals on The Verandah, Tremain’s Tavern and a pool bar that opens mainly on weekends.
- Getting there / to the parks: About 45 miles and an hour to the Magic Kingdom parking plaza, roughly 32 to 35 miles (about 50 minutes) to Universal’s parking garages, and 43 to 45 miles to Orlando International Airport (MCO). The fastest routes use the SR 453 and SR 429 toll roads.
- Good to know: Parking and Wi-Fi are listed as free, and check-in is 3 p.m. (check-out 11 a.m.). Breakfast is served in the restaurant from 7:30 or 8 a.m., depending on the day, but the inn does not say it is included, so check your rate. Extra guests are $15 each, children 17 and under stay free with parents, and festival, event and holiday dates carry a 10-day cancellation policy. Dogs under 25 pounds are allowed in the Sunset building for a $75 + tax fee per pet, per visit.
Best for: Couples and history lovers who want to walk to dinner and watch the sunset over Lake Dora from a rocking chair.
2. Heron Cay Lakeview Bed & Breakfast

Heron Cay is a 9,200-square-foot, Queen Anne-style Victorian mansion on three landscaped acres overlooking Lake Dora, about a four-block walk west of downtown. It has eight rooms, each with a private bath, TV, Wi-Fi, a small refrigerator, a hair dryer and robes, plus a pool tucked into tropical gardens.
This is the most romantic pick here. Several rooms have real wood-burning fireplaces (the innkeepers ask guests not to light them in warm weather), and the largest suite, at nearly 800 square feet, has a king bed, its own parlor overlooking the lake and an oversized Jacuzzi tub. Breakfast is a multi-course gourmet buffet, with coffee out from 8 a.m.
- Why stay: A full B&B stay with breakfast included, lake views, gardens and a pool, all walkable to downtown.
- Getting there / to the parks: About 45 miles (an hour) to the Magic Kingdom parking plaza and 32 to 35 miles to Universal by road.
- Good to know: Two rooms take pets for an extra $25, and the ground-floor Zoi Garden room is described as ADA-compliant, with its own outside entrance and deck. The inn’s website is old-fashioned and some of its text dates back years, so confirm room details and policies when you book.
Best for: Anniversaries and romantic weekends where breakfast and atmosphere matter more than modern design.
3. The Heirloom Inn

The Heirloom Inn is a turquoise-and-pink historic house at 644 North Donnelly Street, right in the downtown core and about a block from Donnelly Park. It has six remodeled suites on the ground and second floors, each with a private bath and a private entrance. The second-floor units share a screened porch, and there is a small garden.
Instead of a breakfast service, every suite has either a full eat-in kitchen or a breakfast bar with a refrigerator, microwave and coffee maker. Three suites sleep three; the Sapphire Suite sleeps five with two queen beds and a sofa; and the Opal and Diamond suites sleep four, with full eat-in kitchens and views over downtown.
- Why stay: The most central address on this list, with kitchen space for longer stays or a friends’ weekend.
- Getting there / to the parks: About 45 miles to the Magic Kingdom parking plaza and 32 to 35 miles to Universal by road, without traffic.
- Good to know: Off-street parking, most of it covered, is included for one car per suite; check-in is contactless and Wi-Fi is free. The inn calls itself pet-friendly under its own pet policy, so ask about fees and limits before you arrive. There is no breakfast.
Best for: Festival weekends, girls’ trips and anyone who wants to cook, walk everywhere and skip a set breakfast time.
4. The Estate at Mount Dora

The Estate at Mount Dora is a 6,750-square-foot historic property at 1029 East 5th Avenue, on the residential side of town about 0.6 mile from Donnelly Park. Its owners date it to 1877. You can book a single suite (each sleeps two to four), the five-bedroom Main House (sleeps 17) or the entire nine-bedroom, nine-bathroom property (sleeps 28) for a reunion or wedding.
Suites have coffee stations and 4K streaming TVs, the grounds have big oaks, swings and a hammock, and on-site parking is free. The Estate says it is inside the service area of the city’s free on-demand downtown shuttle, Freebee, which it lists as running Friday to Sunday, 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. The city launched the shuttle as a pilot in 2024, so check that it is still running.
- Why stay: Space. It is the easiest way to keep a big group under one roof close to downtown.
- Getting there / to the parks: About 44 miles (just under an hour) to the Magic Kingdom parking plaza and 31 to 34 miles to Universal by road.
- Good to know: Check-in is 4 p.m. and check-out 11 a.m., with early or late times sold through its guest app when available. Dogs are allowed only in designated rooms, for $75 per pet, and a crib or Pack ‘n Play is $20. Booking.com rates carry their own cancellation rules, so read them before you pay.
Best for: Family reunions, wedding parties and groups who want shared space without renting a private house.
5. Hampton Inn Mount Dora

The Hampton Inn sits on US Highway 441 northeast of the historic district, next to the Mount Dora Country Club and about a mile from Renninger’s Antique Center, according to Hilton. Downtown is about 2.5 miles by road (Hilton says 2), roughly a six-minute drive.
Hilton lists free hot breakfast, free Wi-Fi, free self-parking, an outdoor pool, a fitness center, connecting rooms, cribs and EV charging. It is the easy choice for a park day: eat before the drive and come back to a pool.
- Why stay: A branded hotel with breakfast, a pool and Hilton Honors points, minutes from downtown.
- Getting there / to the parks: About 45 miles and an hour to the Magic Kingdom parking plaza, 32 to 35 miles to Universal and 43 to 45 miles to MCO. Hilton lists the airport as 30 miles away, and there is no airport shuttle.
- Good to know: Check-in is 3 p.m. and check-out 11 a.m. Dogs and cats (two maximum) cost $50 for stays of one to four nights and $75 for five nights or more, according to Hilton’s hotel page at last check (archived July 2026).
Best for: Families, road trippers and points collectors who prefer a pool and free breakfast over historic charm.
6. Quality Inn & Suites Mt Dora North

The Quality Inn & Suites is the budget option, at 16630 US 441 West on the northwest side of town, about 3.3 miles by road from downtown Mount Dora. Choice Hotels lists free hot breakfast, an outdoor pool, free Wi-Fi and exterior corridors. Rooms have one or two beds, and some layouts add a sofa.
- Why stay: A low-key, low-frills overnight with breakfast and a pool included.
- Getting there / to the parks: About 48 miles (just over an hour) to the Magic Kingdom parking plaza and 35 to 38 miles to Universal by road.
- Good to know: Check-in is 3 p.m. and check-out 11 a.m., and children 18 and under stay free. Pets up to 50 pounds are allowed for $15 per pet, per night (two maximum), and truck parking is available, according to the Choice Hotels page at last check (archived April 2026). Confirm parking and pet details with the hotel before you go.
Best for: Budget travelers, pet owners and anyone arriving with a truck.
Three more Mount Dora B&Bs you book direct
These well-known B&Bs were not listed on Booking.com when we checked, so you reserve them on their own websites:
- Magnolia Inn Bed & Breakfast (347 East 3rd Avenue): about two blocks from the historic district, with a homemade gourmet breakfast served from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. and free on-site parking. Children must be 14 or older, pets are not allowed, and weekends need a two-night minimum except from June through September.
- Adora Inn: a 1916 house in the downtown area run by two professional chefs, who serve a multi-course breakfast at 9 a.m. that is included in the rate. Guests must be 18 or older to register, children under eight and pets are not accepted, and rooms have no TVs by design.
- Mount Dora Historic Inn (221 East Fourth Avenue): a restored 1910 house with four rooms in the heart of downtown; breakfast is provided through a partnership with Cody’s on 4th, a few steps away.
Mount Dora festivals and when to book

Planning a romantic weekend in Mount Dora
For a couples’ trip, book a Lakefront Room at the Lakeside Inn and have dinner on The Verandah, or take a fireplace room at Heron Cay and let breakfast be the main event. If you prefer an adults-focused B&B, Magnolia Inn and Adora Inn set minimum ages for guests. Fill the days with antiques, galleries and a boat tour on Lake Dora or the Dora Canal. If you would rather stay near the parks, compare our romantic hotels in Orlando for couples, and for more ideas away from the rides, see things to do in Orlando besides theme parks.
