The Hampton Inn Orlando Closest to Universal (officially Hampton Inn Closest to Universal Orlando) is a budget Hampton by Hilton on Windhover Drive, about 1.2 to 1.7 road miles from Universal’s parking garages. It includes the extras that usually add up near the parks: a free hot breakfast, free self-parking and a free scheduled shuttle to Universal, with no resort fee in the price breakdown.

The shuttle does not go to Epic Universe, the walk to CityWalk takes about 30 minutes, and there is one outdoor pool and no restaurant. It is not a Universal hotel, so a room-only booking does not include Early Park Admission or Universal Express.

We checked Hilton’s hotel page (an archived June 2026 copy, because hilton.com blocks automated checks), Booking.com’s listing and price breakdown for three sample stays, and Universal’s own pages in October 2026. Rates vary by season, availability and how far ahead you book.

Quick answer: Book the Hampton Inn Closest to Universal if Universal Studios Florida and Islands of Adventure are the focus of your trip and you want breakfast, parking and park transport without a daily fee. Skip it if Epic Universe is your main park, if you need beds for five in one room, or if you want Early Park Admission and a resort pool.

Location: Windhover Drive, across Kirkman Road from Universal

The hotel sits on Windhover Drive, just off Kirkman Road. Universal Studios Florida, Islands of Adventure and CityWalk are on the other side of Kirkman Road, and their shared parking garage (6000 Universal Boulevard) is about five minutes away by car.

The hotel’s own figures are shorter than ours. Hilton describes it as “1 block from Universal Studios” and lists the parks at about 1 mile; Booking.com says “less than 0.6 mi.” Our routes to the garage toll plaza measure about 1.7 miles there and 1.2 miles back. Epic Universe’s parking is about 4.7 miles away via Kirkman Road and Epic Boulevard. Hilton puts Walt Disney World “within 10 miles,” which matches Disney Springs, but Disney’s theme park lots are about 14 to 17 miles away.

Distances are our OSRM and Valhalla routes on public roads to each parking entrance, rounded; return trips can differ. Hilton lists the airport at 10 miles. The Mall at Millenia is about 2.2 to 2.4 road miles away and ICON Park about 3.5. Universal’s Volcano Bay water park is “temporarily closed for maintenance,” with a planned reopening “on or before April 1, 2027.” For other areas and budgets, see our guide to the best hotels near Universal Studios Orlando for every budget.

Rooms: one king or two queens, about 320 square feet

Booking.com lists three room types, each 30 m² (about 320 square feet): a King Room with one king bed, a Queen Room with two queen beds, and a mobility-accessible King Room with a roll-in shower. Hilton’s room pages (October 2025 copy) also listed a king room with mobility and hearing features.

Occupancy is the main limit. Hilton allows up to four guests in the two-queen room and two in the king rooms. On Booking.com, the two-queen room takes up to 2 adults and 2 children. Booking.com says the hotel has no extra beds, and cribs for children up to 2 are free on request. A family of five needs two rooms; Hilton lists connecting rooms, so request them from the hotel after you book.

Booking.com lists a microwave, a refrigerator, a TV and a desk in the rooms. Hilton’s room descriptions (October 2025 copy) add a coffee maker, an easy chair with ottoman, an iron and a hair dryer. There is no kitchen or kitchenette.

This is an older building: Hilton lists a 1992 opening date and does not mark it as recently renovated. All rooms are non-smoking.

Pool and recreation

Recreation is simple: one kidney-shaped outdoor pool beside the building, with a fenced deck, loungers and a patio table. Booking.com lists the pool as free, open all year and open to all ages. Hilton described it as heated in its October 2025 hotel information, so confirm the heating for a winter trip.

There are no water slides, no splash pad and no kids’ club, and neither Hilton nor Booking.com lists a hot tub. Hilton lists an accessible pool, and a pool lift is visible in the hotel’s photos.

Dining and breakfast

Breakfast is the only meal served, and it is included. Hilton lists a free hot breakfast buffet, and every Booking.com rate in our three sample stays included breakfast. The hotel’s photos show a waffle maker, a toaster, pastries, fresh fruit and a juice machine. Breakfast hours are not published on the pages we checked, so ask at check-in before an early park day.

There is no restaurant, bar or room service. A small shop next to the front desk sells snacks, cold drinks and frozen meals for your room’s microwave. For dinner, the largest choice nearby is Universal CityWalk, about 30 minutes on foot.

Parking and fees: what you pay on top of the rate

This is where the Hampton stands out. Hilton lists free self-parking with one space per room and in-and-out privileges. Booking.com lists free private parking on site and says a reservation is needed, so add your car to your booking details. There is no valet, and Hilton says on-site parking is not available for oversized vehicles.

We found no resort fee. Booking.com’s price breakdown for our sample stays showed only a 6% “TAX” and a 6.5% “City tax,” 12.5% in all, and Hilton’s policies list no resort charge. Other charges, from Hilton’s policies (June 2026 copy):

  • Security deposit: the card on file is authorized before arrival for the stay plus a $75 deposit.
  • Pets: up to 2 dogs or cats, 75 pounds maximum, for a non-refundable $75 per stay (1 to 4 nights) or $125 (5 nights or more).
  • Smoking: a fee of up to $250 for smoking in a room.
  • Late check-out: check-out is 11 a.m.; Hilton’s policy says no charge until 1 p.m. and a full night’s charge after that, so ask first.

Universal charges $35 a day, tax included, for regular self-parking at the time of writing, so four park days by car cost $140. The free shuttle or the walk avoids that charge.

Hilton Honors points and member benefits apply only to bookings made directly with Hilton; Hilton’s terms list third-party website bookings among ineligible stays.

Transport to the parks: shuttle, walking and the I-RIDE Trolley

The free Universal shuttle

Hilton’s hotel page (June 2026 copy) says: “A complimentary scheduled shuttle service to Universal Orlando and Islands of Adventure is available. For departure and return times, please contact the front desk.” It adds that times may vary and that the service “is currently not available for Universal Epic Universe.” Hilton posts no timetable. In an August 2025 answer on Booking.com, the hotel listed a daily pickup at 8 a.m. and returns from the parks at 5:30 p.m. and 8:15 p.m. It added that times are subject to change.

At the front desk, confirm the current times, the drop-off point and whether you need to reserve a seat. On Epic Universe days you need a car, a taxi or a rideshare. For shuttles that publish times or include Epic, see our list of hotels near Universal with a free shuttle.

Walking to CityWalk

You can walk. Our two walking routes to the middle of CityWalk measure about 1.4 and 1.6 miles, roughly 30 minutes each way. Both cross Kirkman Road, a busy multi-lane road. After a long park day, the shuttle or a rideshare is easier. For a shorter walk, see our list of hotels within walking distance of Universal Orlando.

The I-RIDE Trolley

The I-RIDE Trolley’s Green Line starts on Windhover Drive, the I-RIDE route map lists this Hampton among its hotels, and Booking.com says a stop is right outside. The trolley does not go to Universal’s parks, but it runs along Major Boulevard and Universal Boulevard toward ICON Park and the convention center area. At the time of writing, a ride costs $2 in exact change, trolleys run daily from 8 a.m. to 10:30 p.m., and the Green Line comes about every 45 minutes.

Disney, SeaWorld and the airport

The hotel lists no Disney, SeaWorld or airport shuttle on the pages we checked, so plan to drive or use a rideshare. Orlando International Airport is about 13 to 14 miles on local roads via Sand Lake Road. The quicker toll route via I-4, Florida’s Turnpike and SR 528 is about 16 to 17 miles. Universal’s paid SuperStar Shuttle from the airport lists only Universal’s own hotels, so it does not stop here.

Amenities: fitness room, Wi-Fi and business center

Hilton lists free Wi-Fi, a fitness center with cardio equipment, a business center and one meeting room. Booking.com adds a 24-hour front desk, an elevator, baggage storage and a shared lounge with a TV.

The fitness room in the hotel’s photos has a treadmill, an elliptical trainer and a recumbent bike. Hilton lists no spa or guest laundry, and Booking.com lists dry cleaning for an extra charge but no guest laundry.

Who the Hampton Inn Closest to Universal suits

It suits couples and families of up to four who plan a few days at Universal Studios Florida and Islands of Adventure and want breakfast included with no resort fee or parking bill. It also suits drivers who add SeaWorld or International Drive, because Kirkman Road connects to I-4.

It suits less well if Epic Universe is your main park, if you need beds for five in one room, if you want a pool with slides or an on-site restaurant, or if Disney is most of your trip. For more low-cost options, compare our cheap hotels near Universal Studios Orlando.

Can you walk from Hampton Inn Closest to Universal to Universal Studios?

Yes, but it is a real walk. Our routes to the middle of CityWalk measure about 1.4 to 1.6 miles, roughly 30 minutes each way, and both cross Kirkman Road. The park entrances are a few minutes beyond CityWalk. The free shuttle is easier after a long day, and Universal’s garages are about five minutes away by car.

Yes. Hilton lists free self-parking with one space per room, and Booking.com lists free private parking on site and says a reservation is needed. There is no valet, and oversized vehicles cannot park on site. Universal, by comparison, charges $35 a day, tax included, at its garages at the time of writing.

Does Hampton Inn Closest to Universal charge a resort fee?

No resort fee appeared in our checks. Booking.com’s price breakdown for sample stays in November 2026, December 2026 and January 2027 showed only a 6% tax and a 6.5% city tax, 12.5% in all, and Hilton’s policies list no resort charge. Check the final price screen before you pay.

No. Hilton’s page says the shuttle “is currently not available for Universal Epic Universe.” Epic’s parking toll plaza is about 4.7 road miles away, roughly 11 minutes without traffic. A room-only booking here also does not include Early Park Admission, which Universal offers to its hotel guests “and other selected groups.”

Bottom line

The Hampton Inn Orlando Closest to Universal is a simple, older hotel that keeps your costs down near Universal. Breakfast, parking and a Universal shuttle are included, and we found no resort fee. If a 30-minute walk or a scheduled bus, a small pool and no Epic Universe service work for you, it is a practical budget base for Universal Studios Florida and Islands of Adventure. Rates vary by season, availability and how far ahead you book.
