The hotels near Universal with free breakfast that are worth booking sit just outside Universal’s gates, on Major Boulevard, Vineland Road, Kirkman Road and the north end of International Drive. All nine below are about 1.3 to 2.3 road miles from Universal’s parking garages. Each one’s official page says breakfast comes free with every stay, not as a package or a loyalty perk.
That matters because Universal’s own hotels don’t include it as standard. Replying to a reader on its official blog in December 2024, Universal said “breakfast is not included with the cost of your room.” Below you’ll find what each hotel serves (hot or continental), breakfast hours, parking costs and park transport, all checked against the hotels’ own pages.
Quick answer: For the shortest drive, start with Homewood Suites Nearest to Universal Studios (about 1.3 miles to the garages). The Holiday Inn Express & Suites Nearest Universal Orlando is a close second, with hot breakfast, free parking, no resort fee and a free scheduled shuttle. For the most included food, Drury Inn & Suites adds a free evening Kickback. Need a kitchen? Look at the Residence Inn or TownePlace Suites.

How we chose these hotels near Universal with free breakfast
No scores and no paid placements. Every hotel had to meet all of these:
- Breakfast for every guest: the hotel’s official page (live, or an archived copy we name) says breakfast is free or complimentary with the stay. Rate-based or member-only breakfasts didn’t count. That ruled out Hyatt Place across from Universal Orlando Resort, whose page ties free breakfast to World of Hyatt members on eligible rates or breakfast-included rates.
- Close to Universal: within about 2.5 road miles of Universal’s parking garage entrance, measured with the OSRM routing engine (OpenStreetMap data). Hotels’ own figures are often shorter.
- Verified practical details: parking cost, shuttle wording, breakfast hours and pet rules come from the hotel’s page. Where a brand page contradicts itself, we say so.
- Value: mid-range brands where included breakfast and parking add up. Rates vary by season, availability and how far ahead you book.
The list runs from the shortest drive to Universal’s garages to the longest.

How to choose a hotel near Universal with free breakfast
Hot buffet or continental?
Seven of the nine describe a free hot breakfast. TownePlace mixes hot and cold items on its buffet, and Element serves a continental spread built around one cooked-to-order station. The Holiday Inn Express and Drury publish their menus; the Hilton and Marriott pages just say “hot breakfast.”
Check breakfast hours against rope drop
Most of these breakfasts open at 6 or 6:30 a.m. on weekdays, and Drury, TownePlace and Element start later on weekends. Heading out on the first shuttle? Eat early or grab something to go.
Add up parking
Seven of the nine list free parking, while TownePlace ($26 a night) and Element ($24 a day) charge. If you drive to the parks, Universal’s standard garage parking was $35 a day including tax at the time of writing.
Shuttle or drive?
Drury, the Holiday Inn Express and Homewood state free Universal transport most clearly. Residence Inn and Fairfield describe it too, but their Marriott pages give no schedule. Ask for the current times and whether it serves Epic Universe. Our guide to Orlando hotels with free shuttles to Universal covers more options.
Want to be closer still? See hotels within walking distance of Universal, or start with our overview of hotels near Universal Studios Orlando. For free breakfast near Disney and SeaWorld too, see Orlando hotels with free breakfast near the theme parks.
Universal’s own hotels and breakfast
Universal’s own hotels have perks that off-site hotels don’t, but free breakfast isn’t one of them. Universal’s blog points you to its hotel restaurants, buffets and quick-service spots for breakfast; that post predates the three Epic Universe hotels, so check your rate details there too. Universal’s hotels also charge for overnight self-parking: $26 at the value hotels, $30 at the prime value hotels and $36 at the signature hotels, plus tax, at last check. To weigh the two, compare the cheapest Universal Orlando hotels with the picks above, and add breakfast to the cost of the Universal option.
Two more planning notes. Universal Volcano Bay closes for maintenance from October 26, 2026, with reopening planned on or before April 1, 2027. And our guide to hotels near Epic Universe covers the stays closest to that park’s separate entrance. On a tight budget? See cheap hotels on International Drive.
Frequently asked questions
Do Universal Orlando’s own hotels include free breakfast?
Not as standard. In a December 2024 reply on its official blog, Universal said breakfast is not included with the cost of a room at its hotels. Their restaurants, buffets and quick-service spots sell breakfast instead. The nine hotels on this list sit outside Universal’s resort, and each one’s official page says breakfast is free for every guest.
Which hotels near Universal serve a free hot breakfast?
The Holiday Inn Express & Suites Nearest Universal Orlando, Homewood Suites Nearest to Universal Studios, Residence Inn Near Universal, Fairfield Near Universal, both Hamptons and Drury Inn & Suites all list a free hot breakfast on their official pages. TownePlace Suites serves a buffet with hot and cold items, and Element offers a continental breakfast plus a cooked-to-order station.
Are there hotels near Universal with free breakfast and a free shuttle?
Yes. Drury Inn & Suites near Universal and the Holiday Inn Express & Suites Nearest Universal Orlando both state a free scheduled shuttle to Universal’s parks, Epic Universe included. Homewood Suites says it offers free shuttle passes. Residence Inn and Fairfield also describe Universal transport but list no schedule, so confirm times with the hotel before you plan your day around it.
Is the free breakfast included if I book on Booking.com?
It should be at these hotels. Their official pages present breakfast as part of every stay, not a member perk or a special rate, and hotels that tie breakfast to loyalty status were left off. Still, read the room description on Booking.com before you pay. Some extras, like free Wi-Fi at Marriott brands, are promised only to members who book direct.
Can you walk to Universal from these hotels?
From the Major Boulevard and Vineland Road hotels, such as the Holiday Inn Express, Residence Inn and Fairfield, it’s roughly 1.1 to 1.3 miles on foot to the middle of CityWalk, by OpenStreetMap’s walking router. It’s doable, but it’s a real walk in Florida heat, so most families use the hotel shuttle or drive.
Which free-breakfast hotels near Universal also have free parking?
At last check, Homewood Suites, the Holiday Inn Express, Residence Inn, Fairfield, both Hampton Inns and Drury Inn & Suites all listed free self-parking. TownePlace Suites charged $26 a night (with free nights from the 7th on longer stays), and Element charged $24 a day. Policies change, so confirm when you book.
Bottom line
For hotels near Universal with free breakfast, the Holiday Inn Express and Residence Inn on Major Boulevard and Homewood Suites on American Way pair a hot breakfast with free parking and a short ride to the garages. Drury adds the most free food. Confirm shuttle times and parking before you book. Check your dates for Holiday Inn Express & Suites Nearest Universal Orlando.
