Is Helios Grand hotel worth it? Yes, when Epic Universe fills two or more days of the trip, because the higher rate buys a private park entrance and rooms for five, not Universal Express.
Quick answer: Universal Helios Grand Hotel is the right buy for Epic-heavy trips, parties of five in one room and guests who want Club Level breakfast next to Epic. Universal Stella Nova Resort puts four people a 0.6- to 0.7-mile walk from Epic with $30 parking instead of $36 and $20 per extra adult. Loews Royal Pacific Resort wins when Universal Studios Florida and Islands of Adventure fill most days: its free Express Unlimited replaces a pass that Universal’s calendar priced at $184.99 to $399.99 per person per day, plus tax, for dates through April 30, 2027 (checked October 30, 2026).

Is Helios Grand hotel worth it? What the higher rate buys
Universal’s hotel benefits page marks Helios Grand with its top price symbol ($$$$) and Stella Nova and Terra Luna with $$. The published fees are almost identical, so nearly all of that gap sits in the room rate.

Sources: Universal’s and Loews’ hotel pages, checked October 30, 2026. For a Helios extra adult, Universal lists $25 plus tax and Loews lists $55.
What Helios Grand includes that the cheaper Epic hotels do not
- A private entrance: Universal lists a “dedicated entrance” to Epic Universe for Helios guests, and Loews places it in Celestial Park, the park’s central land. An Epic Universe ticket is required and is not included. Neither Universal nor Loews publishes the entrance’s hours.
- Rooms for five: standard two-queen rooms take five with a rollaway ($35 per day plus 12.5% tax, one per room, first come, first served). Loews lists five guests for the 415-square-foot Deluxe 2 Queen room (its Standard View version adds a sleeper sofa) and for the 545-square-foot How to Train Your Dragon Kids’ Suite. Stella Nova and Terra Luna stop at four.
- Theme Park View rooms: two-queen rooms come in Standard, Pool, Skyline and Theme Park View versions. Stella Nova and Terra Luna sell only Standard and Pool View.
- Club Level: a private lounge with continental breakfast, evening hors d’oeuvres and concierge service. Standard rates do not include breakfast at any of the four hotels.
- A three-meal restaurant and a rooftop bar: Flora Taverna serves a full breakfast buffet and Mediterranean dishes, and Bar Helios serves small plates above the park. Stella Nova and Terra Luna list quick-service restaurants, bars and pizza delivery.
What the higher rate does not buy
- Universal Express: free Express Unlimited goes only to guests of three hotels, Royal Pacific among them. Helios Grand is not one of them, and Express Unlimited is not valid at Epic Universe at any hotel.
- Much more space: the standard two-queen room is 325 square feet, 10 more than Stella Nova and 10 fewer than Royal Pacific.
- Earlier park access: Early Park Admission comes with every Universal hotel. Universal does not state whether the Helios entrance opens for it, so confirm at check-in.
- More pools: the 8,660-square-foot zero-entry pool is for Helios guests only, and Helios guests cannot use other hotels’ pools, per Universal’s hotel FAQ.
True nightly cost: fees, parking and perks
All four hotels list no resort fee on Universal’s and Loews’ pages. Booking.com’s price breakdown for a January 12 to 14, 2027 sample stay added only hotel taxes totaling 12.5% at each one. With a car, the mandatory nightly add-on is self-parking:
- Universal Helios Grand Hotel: your rate + $0 resort fee + $36 parking = rate + $36 per night, plus tax.
- Universal Stella Nova Resort: your rate + $0 resort fee + $30 parking = rate + $30 per night, plus tax.
- Universal Terra Luna Resort: your rate + $0 resort fee + $30 parking = rate + $30 per night, plus tax.
- Loews Royal Pacific Resort: your rate + $0 resort fee + $36 parking = rate + $36 per night, plus tax.
Without a car, the add-on is $0 at all four, because every Universal hotel runs free buses to the parks. Rates vary by season, availability and how far ahead you book, so compare the same nights at each hotel.
Weighing the perks with Universal’s own prices
Early Park Admission is included at all four hotels, so it does not change the comparison. Free breakfast and Epic Universe Express are included at none of them on standard rates. The perk with a published price is Royal Pacific’s Express Unlimited, valid at Universal Studios Florida and Islands of Adventure for everyone in the room.
Universal’s online store sells the comparable pass as the “1-Day Universal Express Unlimited Pass: 2 Parks”. Its calendar, checked October 30, 2026, showed these prices per person, plus tax:
| Sample date | Per person | Four people |
|---|---|---|
| January 13, 2027 | $184.99 | $739.96 |
| November 23, 2026 | $329.99 | $1,319.96 |
| December 28, 2026 | $399.99 | $1,599.96 |
Across October 30, 2026 to April 30, 2027 the calendar ranged from $184.99 to $399.99. Universal’s hotel comparison page values the hotel perk at “an average value of $259.99” per person per day; the UK edition of that page bases it on a $129.99 to $389.99 range, and Loews’ benefits page gives $124.99 to $389.99. For Epic Universe, where Express Unlimited is not sold, the single-use “1-Day Universal Express Pass: 1 Park” ranged from $139.99 to $359.99 in the same window. Guests of all four hotels pay that separately.
Worked example: four nights, four people, one car
- Parking: Helios Grand and Royal Pacific cost 4 × $36 = $144 plus tax. Stella Nova and Terra Luna cost 4 × $30 = $120 plus tax. The gap is $24 for the whole stay.
- A third adult: the hotel pages list a charge per extra adult but do not say whether it applies each night. If it does, four nights cost 4 × $20 = $80 at Stella Nova or Terra Luna; 4 × $25 = $100 plus tax (Universal) or 4 × $55 = $220 (Loews) at Helios Grand; and 4 × $55 = $220 plus tax at Royal Pacific.
- Express: two days at the original parks are worth 4 × ($184.99 + $184.99) = $1,479.92 on January 13 and 14, 2027, or 4 × ($399.99 + $399.99) = $3,199.92 on December 28 and 29, 2026, before tax. Only Royal Pacific includes it.
The arithmetic gives two decision rules. Against Stella Nova, Helios Grand’s fees add only $24 over four nights, so the room-rate gap is the real price of the private entrance, the fifth bed and the restaurant. Against Royal Pacific, parking is the same and neither lists a resort fee, so if you would buy Express for the original parks anyway, Royal Pacific is cheaper whenever its rate premium over Helios Grand is smaller than the Express total for your dates. The guide to Universal hotels with Express Pass runs more examples.
Universal Helios Grand Hotel
Universal Helios Grand Hotel, a Loews Hotel, has 500 rooms, including 35 suites, at the end of Celestial Park in Epic Universe. Its strongest selling points are the private entrance, rooms for five and two-bedroom suites of up to 1,825 square feet. The full Universal Helios Grand Hotel review covers every room type.

For trips split between Epic and the original parks, the hotel runs free buses to the CityWalk hub, about 3 miles away by road. There is no bus to Epic, because guests walk in. Pets are not permitted. The Helios Grand vs Portofino Bay comparison weighs it against an Express hotel with bigger rooms.

Book it if:
- Epic Universe gets two or more days and midday breaks at the hotel matter.
- Five people need one room: the Deluxe 2 Queen room or the Kids’ Suite.
- You want a Theme Park View room, Club Level breakfast or a hotel breakfast buffet.
Skip it if:
- Four fit in one room and a short walk is fine: Universal Stella Nova Resort lists $30 parking and $20 per extra adult. Check its current rates.
- Most days are at Universal Studios Florida and Islands of Adventure: Loews Royal Pacific Resort includes Express Unlimited there. Compare its prices.

Universal Stella Nova Resort
Universal Stella Nova Resort has 750 rooms, all 315 square feet with two queen beds for up to four. Universal’s blog puts it a 5- to 10-minute walk from Epic’s Chronos gate; the foot route in the Stella Nova review measures about 0.6 to 0.7 mile from the lobby.

The 10,000-square-foot pool has a kids’ splash pad, and Stella Nova guests may also use Terra Luna’s pool. Dining is quick service. Parking is $30 plus tax per night, and each adult beyond two costs $20.
Book it if:
- Epic Universe is the focus and a walk of about 0.6 to 0.7 mile to the gate is acceptable.
- Your party is four or fewer and fits two queen beds.
- Young children will use a splash pad.
Skip it if:
- You need a room for five or Club Level: Universal Helios Grand Hotel offers both. See its room types and prices.

Universal Terra Luna Resort
Universal Terra Luna Resort matches Stella Nova on rooms, perks and fees: 750 two-queen rooms of 315 square feet for up to four, $30 parking and $20 per extra adult. The difference is access. Universal lists a walking path to Epic for Stella Nova only and free shuttles for Terra Luna, which sits about 1.3 to 1.5 miles from Epic’s guest parking by road.

Its zero-entry pool has pop-up jets and a large hot tub and is shared only with Stella Nova. The Universal Terra Luna Resort review and the Stella Nova vs Terra Luna comparison cover the trade-off.
Book it if:
- Its rate beats Stella Nova’s for the same nights.
- The free bus is acceptable for every park, Epic included.
- You prefer a zero-entry pool with pop-up jets to Stella Nova’s splash pad.
Skip it if:
- Walking to Epic matters: Universal Stella Nova Resort has the path. Check its current rates.
- You want to enter Epic straight from the hotel: Universal Helios Grand Hotel has its own entrance. Compare its prices.

Loews Royal Pacific Resort
Loews Royal Pacific Resort has 1,000 rooms, including 51 suites, on Universal’s original campus. Standard rooms are 335 square feet and sleep three with a king or five with two queens and a rollaway. Every registered guest gets Express Unlimited at Universal Studios Florida and Islands of Adventure, from key issue until the parks close on check-out day.

The perk has limits. It is not valid at Epic Universe, Volcano Bay or separately ticketed events, and Universal’s Express FAQ excludes Hagrid’s Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure and Pteranodon Flyers. Epic is a free bus ride of about 4 to 4.5 miles. The Loews Royal Pacific Resort review covers rooms, pools and dining.
Book it if:
- Two or more days go to Universal Studios Florida and Islands of Adventure.
- You would otherwise buy Express for the whole party.
- Walking to the original parks matters: about 0.6 mile to Universal Studios Florida.
Skip it if:
- Epic Universe is the main event: Universal Helios Grand Hotel sits inside it. See its rates.
- Three or four adults share a room: Universal Terra Luna Resort charges $20 per extra adult, not $55. Check its prices.

Getting to the parks from each hotel
Helios Grand saves the most time at Epic; Royal Pacific saves the most at the original parks. Distances are road or foot routes on OpenStreetMap, rounded.
| Hotel | To Epic Universe | To USF and IOA | Bus every |
|---|---|---|---|
| Helios Grand | Private entrance | Bus, about 3 mi | 15 or 10 min |
| Stella Nova | Walk, about 0.6-0.7 mi | Bus, about 4 mi | 15 or 10 min |
| Terra Luna | Bus, about 1.3-1.5 mi | Bus, about 3.5-4 mi | 15 or 10 min |
| Royal Pacific | Bus, about 4-4.5 mi | Walk, boat or bus | 30 min |
Universal’s hotel FAQ says buses arrive every 15 minutes at Helios Grand, Stella Nova and Terra Luna and every 30 minutes at Royal Pacific. Universal’s Discover Universal blog (August 2025) says every 10 minutes at the three Epic hotels. It puts a typical ride at 10 to 20 minutes. Royal Pacific also has water taxis to CityWalk and walking paths of about 0.6 mile to Universal Studios Florida and 0.5 to 0.6 mile to Islands of Adventure. More options are in the guide to hotels near Epic Universe.
What to check before you book
- The rate gap for your exact nights: price all four hotels for the same dates and room size, then apply the fee arithmetic above.
- Your Early Park Admission dates: at last check, Universal listed October 5 to November 30, 2026 at Islands of Adventure and select Epic Universe lands, with no upcoming dates at Universal Studios Florida.
- The Helios extra-adult charge: $25 plus tax on Universal’s page, $55 on Loews’ page.
- Booking.com terms: mobile check-in in the Universal app requires a direct Universal or Loews booking, so Booking.com guests collect key cards at the front desk. Read each rate’s own cancellation conditions.
- Volcano Bay: it is closed for maintenance from October 26, 2026. Universal’s Volcano Bay page gives a reopening on or before April 1, 2027; its Express page says on or before March 24, 2027.

Frequently asked questions
Does Universal Helios Grand Hotel include Express Pass?
No. Universal limits free Express Unlimited to three Loews-run hotels on the original campus, including Loews Royal Pacific Resort, and only at Universal Studios Florida and Islands of Adventure. Helios Grand guests get Early Park Admission, free buses, room charging and the private Epic entrance. At Epic, any guest can buy the single-use Universal Express Pass, priced at $139.99 to $359.99 per person per day, plus tax, on Universal’s calendar at last check.
Is Helios Grand worth it over Stella Nova?
Only when the extra features matter. Over four nights, Helios Grand’s parking costs $24 more than Stella Nova’s, so the rest of the price gap is room rate. That gap buys a private entrance instead of a 0.6- to 0.7-mile walk, rooms for five instead of four, Theme Park View rooms, Club Level and a three-meal restaurant. The standard room is only 10 square feet larger.
Does Helios Grand have a resort fee?
No resort fee appears on Universal’s or Loews’ pages, and Booking.com’s price breakdown for a January 2027 sample stay added only the 12.5% hotel tax. The mandatory extra is parking for guests with a car: $36 plus tax per night for self-parking or $45 plus tax for valet. Day visitors pay $125 plus tax, so the hotel garage is not a cheaper way into Epic.
How does the Helios Grand entrance to Epic Universe work?
Hotel guests use a dedicated entrance into Celestial Park, the central land of Epic Universe, instead of the main gate. A valid Epic Universe ticket is required and is not included in the room rate. Universal and Loews do not publish the entrance’s hours, and Universal does not say whether it opens for Early Park Admission, so ask at check-in.
How many people can stay in a Helios Grand room?
Standard two-queen rooms sleep five with a rollaway, which costs $35 per day plus 12.5% tax, one per room, first come, first served. King rooms sleep three with a rollaway. Loews lists five guests for the 415-square-foot Deluxe 2 Queen room and the How to Train Your Dragon Kids’ Suite. Two-bedroom suites sleep seven to ten.
Bottom line
Is Helios Grand hotel worth it? For two or more Epic Universe days, a party of five or a Club Level stay next to Epic, yes: no resort fee is listed, and the rate premium buys a private entrance and bigger room options. For four people focused on Epic, Universal Stella Nova Resort costs $6 less per night in parking and keeps a walk to the gate. For the original parks, Loews Royal Pacific Resort’s free Express Unlimited replaces a pass priced at $184.99 to $399.99 per person per day, plus tax, on Universal’s calendar through April 30, 2027. See room photos and current prices for Universal Helios Grand Hotel.
