This Epic Universe guide covers what you need to plan a day at Universal Orlando’s newest theme park, which opened on May 22, 2025: the five worlds, which ticket to buy, how Universal Express and Early Park Admission work there, ride heights, parking, and the hotels closest to the gates.
Epic Universe isn’t next to the older parks. By our routing estimate, it sits about 4 miles by road south of Universal’s main parking garages, with its own lot, entrance and rules. The biggest surprise for first-timers: the free Express Unlimited perk from some Universal hotels doesn’t work here, and one headline ride doesn’t take Express at all.
Facts below come from Universal’s own pages, park map and safety guide, checked in October 2026. Prices and perks change often, so confirm them before you buy.
Quick answer: Buy a dated ticket that includes Epic Universe (1-day tickets started from $139.99 plus tax at last check), add single-use Universal Express only if you’re fine without it on Dragon Racer’s Rally, and stay at a Universal hotel if you want Early Park Admission. Universal Helios Grand Hotel has its own park entrance, Universal Stella Nova Resort has a walking path, and drivers pay $35 a day, tax included, at the Epic Universe lot.

Epic Universe guide to the five worlds
You enter through the Chronos gate into Celestial Park, the hub, and four portals lead from there to the themed worlds. Universal counted more than 50 experiences at opening, including rides, shows, restaurants and shops.
Celestial Park
Celestial Park’s big ride is Stardust Racers, a pair of dueling launch coasters that Universal says reach up to 62 mph and 133 feet, with two launches and a barrel roll. Constellation Carousel has no minimum height, and Astronomica is a splash pad. Celestial Park also holds the park’s two table-service restaurants, Atlantic and The Blue Dragon Pan-Asian Restaurant, plus quick-service spots such as Pizza Moon and The Oak & Star Tavern.

Stay for the end of the day if you can. Since July 7, 2026, Universal Celestial Goodnight has run nightly at park close, a show of fountains, synchronized lights and music that ends with fireworks.
SUPER NINTENDO WORLD
This world combines Super Mario Land with Donkey Kong Country, which Universal says made its U.S. debut here. The rides are Mario Kart: Bowser’s Challenge, an augmented-reality dark ride (40 inches); Mine-Cart Madness, a Donkey Kong coaster (40 inches); and Yoshi’s Adventure, a slow-moving family ride (34 inches). You can also meet Mario, Luigi, Princess Peach, Toad and Donkey Kong.

The interactive key challenges and the Bowser Jr. Shadow Showdown need a Power-Up Band, which is a separate purchase. Universal suggests picking one up at the Nintendo Super Star Store in Celestial Park. For food, Toadstool Cafe serves Mario-themed dishes such as the Mario Burger.
The Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Ministry of Magic
The third Wizarding World in Orlando pairs 1920s wizarding Paris from the Fantastic Beasts films with the British Ministry of Magic. The headline ride, Harry Potter and the Battle at the Ministry, needs 40 inches. Le Cirque Arcanus is a live show with creature puppetry, and interactive wands work around Place Cachée. For a snack, Café L’air De La Sirène serves the Butterbeer crepe.

One thing to know: the Hogwarts Express doesn’t come here. It links Diagon Alley and Hogsmeade at the original two parks and needs a Park-to-Park ticket.
How to Train Your Dragon – Isle of Berk
Hiccup’s Wing Gliders is a coaster that Universal says reaches 45 mph and 50 feet (40 inches). Dragon Racer’s Rally lets you control your own tilts and flips up to 67 feet in the air (48 inches). Fyre Drill is a water-cannon boat ride where, in Universal’s words, riders “will get wet, possibly soaked.” There’s also The Untrainable Dragon live show, the Viking Training Camp play area and a meet-and-greet with Toothless.

If you’re visiting in winter, check the calendar: Universal’s hours page lists Fyre Drill as closed from January 25 to February 4, 2027.
Dark Universe
Dark Universe brings back the classic Universal Monsters. Monsters Unchained: The Frankenstein Experiment is a dark ride on a robotic-arm vehicle (48 inches). Curse of the Werewolf is a spinning family coaster that Universal says reaches 37 mph (40 inches). The Darkmoor Monster Makeup Experience costs extra, and Universal says participants must be 5 or older.

Both Dark Universe rides have test seats at the entrance, so try one if you’re unsure how the restraints will fit.
Epic Universe ride heights and ride rules
These minimum heights come from Universal’s Epic Universe safety and accessibility guide (effective October 4, 2025) and match the official park map. Children under 48 inches (122 cm) who meet a ride’s minimum must ride with a supervising companion who is 14 or older.
| Ride | World | Minimum height | Express? |
|---|---|---|---|
| Stardust Racers | Celestial Park | 48 in (122 cm) | Yes |
| Constellation Carousel | Celestial Park | None | Yes |
| Mario Kart: Bowser’s Challenge | Super Nintendo World | 40 in (102 cm) | Yes |
| Mine-Cart Madness | Super Nintendo World | 40 in (102 cm) | Yes |
| Yoshi’s Adventure | Super Nintendo World | 34 in (87 cm) | Yes |
| Battle at the Ministry | Ministry of Magic | 40 in (102 cm) | Yes |
| Hiccup’s Wing Gliders | Isle of Berk | 40 in (102 cm) | Yes |
| Dragon Racer’s Rally | Isle of Berk | 48 in (122 cm) | No |
| Fyre Drill | Isle of Berk | None | Yes |
| Monsters Unchained | Dark Universe | 48 in (122 cm) | Yes |
| Curse of the Werewolf | Dark Universe | 40 in (102 cm) | Yes |
Stardust Racers has a metal detector and strictly bans loose articles. Universal lists ride lockers at Stardust Racers, Hiccup’s Wing Gliders and Monsters Unchained, free while you ride at the time of writing and says phones, cameras and keys are prohibited on most rides, so leave them with a non-rider or in a locker.
Epic Universe tickets: which one to buy
Universal’s U.S. ticket page (captured September 21, 2026) listed 1-day Epic Universe tickets from $139.99 plus tax, against $124.99 plus tax for Universal Studios Florida or Islands of Adventure. Prices vary by date, and the lowest prices only apply on select days.
- One-Park-Per-Day (base) tickets: one park per day, and Epic Universe can be that park.
- Park-to-Park tickets: move between parks on the same day. Universal says Park-to-Park is available at every park, including Epic Universe.
- Multi-day tickets: Universal sells 2- to 7-day tickets. Its newer 3-, 4- and 5-Day Park-to-Park tickets let you visit Epic Universe and the other parks every day of your stay.
- Current offer: at last check, Universal was promoting 2 free days with a 3-Day ticket, giving 5 days across Epic Universe, Universal Studios Florida and Islands of Adventure. No end date was shown.
Tickets are non-refundable, but Universal says most can be exchanged for another date, with a possible fee. If you’re still choosing between resorts, our Disney vs Universal comparison helps you pick a resort, and our Universal Orlando tips for first-timers cover the other three parks.
Universal Express and Early Park Admission at Epic Universe
Universal Express
Express works differently here than at the older parks. This is how each product applied at last check:
| Perk | Who gets it | At Epic Universe? |
|---|---|---|
| Universal Express | Anyone, as an add-on | Yes, once per ride |
| Express Unlimited | Anyone, as an add-on | No |
| Free Express Unlimited | Portofino Bay, Hard Rock, Royal Pacific guests | No |
| Express Now (app) | In-park, same day | Sometimes |
| Express After 4PM | Not sold for Epic | No |
Single-use Express covers 12 Epic Universe attractions, including Stardust Racers, Mario Kart, Mine-Cart Madness, Battle at the Ministry, Hiccup’s Wing Gliders, Monsters Unchained and the two live shows. Dragon Racer’s Rally is excluded. Universal says in-park stock is limited and often sells out, so buy ahead. Express Now appears only now and then in the app, for one ride at a set time.
If you’re weighing a hotel for its Express perk, remember it only helps at Universal Studios Florida and Islands of Adventure. Our guide to Universal hotels with Express Pass explains when that perk pays off.
Early Park Admission
Universal Orlando hotel guests get Early Park Admission at one theme park up to an hour before regular opening, and the official terms list Epic Universe as eligible. You show your room key and a valid ticket, and only select attractions run. On October 5, 2026, Universal’s calendar showed Epic Universe opening at 10 a.m. with Early Park Admission from 9 a.m.
Universal’s current Epic list (October 5 to November 30, 2026) names select attractions in Ministry of Magic, Super Nintendo World, Isle of Berk and Celestial Park, but not Dark Universe. Dates change, so recheck before your trip. Annual passholder early entry covered Universal Studios Florida, Islands of Adventure and Volcano Bay at last check, not Epic Universe. Our Universal Early Park Admission guide explains the rules for each park.
Getting to Epic Universe: parking, shuttles and rideshare
Driving: Epic Universe has its own surface lot at 1001 Epic Blvd. At last check, regular self-parking cost $35 including tax and Prime parking $50 to $60, and you can prepay. Parking is valid all day at both Epic Universe and the main Universal garages: show your same-day receipt or QR code and a photo ID at the other toll plaza. Universal’s free self-parking after 6 p.m. doesn’t apply at Epic Universe. EV charging is in the Prime lot, for an extra fee.
Rideshare and taxis: the Epic Universe pick-up and drop-off area is at 1201 Epic Blvd, and Universal says there’s no parking charge for drop-offs or pick-ups.
Between parks: Universal’s safety guide says free buses connect the theme parks, Universal CityWalk and the Universal hotels. Universal puts hotel-to-park travel at about 10 to 20 minutes. Water taxis serve CityWalk only and don’t go to Epic Universe.
From farther away: by our routing estimate (OSRM), Epic Universe is about 14 miles by road from Orlando International Airport (roughly 25 minutes without traffic) and about 12 miles from EPCOT’s main parking lot (roughly 20 to 25 minutes). Add time for traffic and the parking toll plaza.
Where to stay for Epic Universe
Three Universal hotels sit next to the park. All of them include Early Park Admission and free buses to the other parks. None includes Express Unlimited.
| Hotel | Universal tier | Getting to Epic Universe |
|---|---|---|
| Universal Helios Grand Hotel | Signature Collection | Dedicated entrance from the hotel |
| Universal Stella Nova Resort | Prime Value | 5- to 10-minute walk, or shuttle |
| Universal Terra Luna Resort | Prime Value | Shuttle about every 10 minutes |
Universal Helios Grand Hotel, a Loews Hotel
Helios Grand sits at the back of Celestial Park, and guests use a dedicated hotel entrance into Epic Universe (park ticket required). Buses from Helios run about every 10 to 15 minutes (Universal’s blog and hotel FAQ differ) to the other parks but don’t serve Epic Universe. Our Universal Helios Grand Hotel review covers rooms, fees and the entrance in detail.

Rates vary by season, availability and how far ahead you book.

Universal Stella Nova Resort
Stella Nova is one of Universal’s Prime Value hotels and, unlike Terra Luna, it has a walking path to Epic Universe. Universal says the Chronos gate is a 5- to 10-minute walk away, and shuttles also run about every 10 minutes. Universal describes double-queen rooms with a spaceship-style portal window and a resort-style pool with a hot tub and a fire pit.

Universal Terra Luna Resort
Terra Luna is Stella Nova’s Prime Value neighbor, with a similar room and pool setup. You reach Epic Universe by shuttle, which Universal says comes about every 10 minutes. Our Stella Nova vs Terra Luna comparison shows where the two differ.

Tips for a smoother Epic Universe day
- Set up the app first. Link your tickets to the Universal Orlando Resort app. Universal uses it for Virtual Line return times and for mobile food and drink ordering at many quick-service spots.
- Reserve the sit-down meals. Atlantic and The Blue Dragon take reservations through the app, online or by phone.
- Look at Universal Nights. This after-hours event runs 9 p.m. to midnight, with entry from 7 p.m. Universal’s U.S. press release put tickets from $179.99 plus tax per person. After the October 3 debut, Universal’s Epic page listed the remaining 2026 event nights as October 17 and 24 and November 6 and 20.

Frequently asked questions
How much is a ticket to Epic Universe?
At last check, Universal’s U.S. ticket page listed 1-day Epic Universe tickets from $139.99 plus tax. That’s the lowest date-based price, and many dates cost more. Multi-day and Park-to-Park tickets can include Epic Universe too, and Universal was promoting 2 free days with a 3-Day ticket. Check your exact date before you buy.
Is Universal Express valid at Epic Universe?
Yes, but only single-use Universal Express, which gets you into the Express line once per participating ride. Express Unlimited isn’t sold or valid there, so the free Express Unlimited from Portofino Bay, Hard Rock and Royal Pacific doesn’t work either. Dragon Racer’s Rally doesn’t accept Express, and Universal says passes often sell out.
Do Universal hotel guests get early entry to Epic Universe?
Yes. Universal hotel guests get Early Park Admission up to an hour before opening, and Epic Universe is one of the eligible parks, at select attractions only. On October 5, 2026, early entry started at 9 a.m. for a 10 a.m. opening. Bring your room key and a valid ticket. Annual passholder early entry didn’t include Epic Universe at last check.
What are the height requirements at Epic Universe?
Stardust Racers, Dragon Racer’s Rally and Monsters Unchained need 48 inches (122 cm). Mario Kart, Mine-Cart Madness, Battle at the Ministry, Hiccup’s Wing Gliders and Curse of the Werewolf need 40 inches (102 cm). Yoshi’s Adventure needs 34 inches (87 cm). Constellation Carousel and Fyre Drill have no minimum, but kids under 48 inches need a supervising companion aged 14 or older.
How do you get from Universal Studios to Epic Universe?
Universal runs free buses between its theme parks, CityWalk and its hotels, and says hotel-to-park trips take about 10 to 20 minutes. If you’re driving, Epic Universe is about 4 miles by road from the main garages, with its own lot at 1001 Epic Blvd. Water taxis and the Hogwarts Express don’t go there, and you need a Park-to-Park ticket to visit both parks in one day.
Can you park at Epic Universe and Universal Studios on the same day?
Yes. Universal says a day’s parking is valid at both the Epic Universe lot and the main Universal garages. When you arrive at the second location, show your same-day parking receipt or QR code and a valid photo ID at the toll plaza. Regular self-parking was $35 including tax at last check. Prime parking may not be available on re-entry.
Bottom line
Epic Universe works best when you treat it as its own trip within your Universal visit. Buy a ticket that includes it, decide early whether single-use Express is worth it without Dragon Racer’s Rally, and use Early Park Admission if you stay on site. If walking to the gate matters most, Helios Grand and Stella Nova are the two hotels that let you skip the bus.
