The closest hotels near Orlando Health’s downtown campus are a short walk from Orlando Regional Medical Center (ORMC) at 52 West Underwood Street, and two of them, TownePlace Suites and Hampton Inn & Suites, share a block of Columbia Street about 0.4 miles from the main hospital. The same campus south of downtown Orlando includes Orlando Health Children’s Arnold Palmer Hospital and Orlando Health Winnie Palmer Hospital for Women & Babies on West Miller Street.

This guide is for families visiting a patient, parents with a baby or child in care, and anyone coming in for surgery or treatment. We ranked seven hotels by road distance and checked parking, breakfast, kitchens, pets and shuttles on official pages, then added what the hospitals say about parking, visiting and family housing.

Nothing here is medical advice. Visiting rules can differ by unit, so ask the care team what applies to your stay.

Quick answer: For a stay of a few nights or longer, book TownePlace Suites by Marriott Orlando Downtown: it is about an 8-minute walk from ORMC, every suite has a full kitchen, breakfast is included and parking was $20 a day at the time of writing. Hampton Inn & Suites next door is the other walkable choice, with free hot breakfast and a free Lyft-run shuttle within 2 miles. If your child is a patient, ask about the Ronald McDonald House on Kuhl Avenue.

How we chose these hotels

  • Road distance first: we routed each hotel to ORMC and to Arnold Palmer Hospital with OSRM in both directions (downtown one-way streets change the result) and added walking routes for the closest picks.
  • Official facts only: parking, breakfast, kitchens, pets and check-in ages come from each hotel’s own site or brand page, read in October 2026 unless we say otherwise.
  • Hospital-stay basics: walkability, kitchens and laundry for long stays, included breakfast, parking costs and car-free options.
  • No review scores: we do not use ratings. Rates vary by season, availability and how far ahead you book.

Parking at Orlando Health’s downtown campus

If you drive, here is what the hospitals’ own pages said at the time of writing:

  • Arnold Palmer and Winnie Palmer: the general parking garage at 108 West Miller Street, directly next to Arnold Palmer Hospital, is free. A first-floor walkway leads toward the hospital; Winnie Palmer visitors use the crosswalks at Miller Street and Lucerne Terrace. Drivers with a valid disabled parking permit can park free in the “B” garage.
  • Valet: valet costs $8. At Arnold Palmer it runs 24/7 at the Children’s Emergency Department and Trauma Center entrance (92 West Miller Street). At ORMC, valet runs 5 am to 10 pm Monday to Friday and 9 am to 5:30 pm on weekends and holidays at the main entrance, and around the clock at the emergency room.
  • ORMC self-parking: ORMC’s resources page does not list a self-parking price, so ask Guest Services (321-841-9500) which garage to use for your unit.

Hotel parking can be the bigger cost if you bring a car. TownePlace and Hampton were $20 a day at last check; downtown, expect roughly $30 (self-parking at Embassy Suites, valet at Aloft and AC) to $45 (valet at Home2).

Getting to Orlando Health without a car

SunRail’s Orlando Health/Amtrak station, at Sligh Boulevard and Columbia Street, is about a 7- to 9-minute walk from ORMC and Arnold Palmer by our route, and SunRail says the station is near ORMC, the cancer center, Arnold Palmer and Winnie Palmer. Trains run Monday to Friday only, about every half-hour at peak times and less often midday, and not on New Year’s Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving or Christmas. A ride within one county costs $2 at the time of writing.

ORMC says LYNX buses stop on Orange Avenue at Miller Street (southbound) and at Fernwood Street (northbound, toward downtown). From the Columbia Street hotels, the Hampton’s free Lyft-run shuttle covers trips within two miles. Our guide to getting around Orlando without a car explains buses, fares and rideshare options.

ORMC is about 12 miles from Orlando International Airport by road. If you land late, an Orlando airport hotel can be easier for the first night.

Housing and support for patients’ families

If your child is being treated at Arnold Palmer Hospital, or your newborn is at Winnie Palmer, ask your care team or social worker about the Ronald McDonald House on the campus at 1630 Kuhl Avenue. Orlando Health lists it as the hospitality home for its downtown campus, and Arnold Palmer’s page says it is within walking distance; our route puts it about a 5-minute walk from Arnold Palmer.

Ronald McDonald House Charities of Central Florida says the house opened in 2003 and has 37 bedrooms with private bathrooms, a kitchen and dining area, two laundry rooms, a playroom, a gaming room and a living room. Families get grab-and-go breakfast items, a daily dinner and access to a community pantry, and a House Manager is on site around the clock.

To stay, the patient must be a child up to age 21 receiving care at an Orlando-area hospital. Most guest rooms are limited to two adults involved in the patient’s daily care, families complete an online form and a background check, and a room is not guaranteed. The house’s phone number is 407-581-1289.

Visiting basics at ORMC, Arnold Palmer and Winnie Palmer

  • Visitors: Orlando Health’s guidelines allow two visitors at a time per patient at all three hospitals, and one adult may stay overnight unless the patient is in a semi-private room. Neonatal ICU rules are given directly to families.
  • Check-in at Arnold Palmer: all visitors check in daily at an information desk, and anyone 16 or older shows photo ID to get a badge.
  • Food and help at ORMC: the main cafeteria is open daily from 5:30 am to 3:30 am, there is guest Wi-Fi, and Guest Services in the main lobby can help with directions around campus and downtown.

How to choose

  • You want to walk: TownePlace or Hampton, about 8 minutes to ORMC and about 10 minutes to Arnold Palmer and Winnie Palmer.
  • You are staying a week or more: TownePlace (full kitchens, laundry, breakfast) first, then Home2 Suites.
  • You will not have a car: the Columbia Street hotels, plus the Hampton’s two-mile Lyft shuttle, or AC Hotel beside the Church Street station, one weekday SunRail stop away.
  • Your group is large: the TownePlace two-bedroom suite (up to five), a Hampton two-queen studio (up to six) or an Embassy suite.
  • You are bringing a pet: TownePlace, Hampton, Aloft, Hotel Beauden, Embassy and Home2 list pet policies; AC Hotel does not allow pets. Check fees and weight limits.
