Hyatt Place Orlando/Universal, which Hyatt now calls Hyatt Place across from Universal Orlando Resort, is a 150-room hotel on Caravan Court about a 1-mile walk from Universal CityWalk. Every room has a sofa bed, one room type adds bunk beds, and Hyatt describes a free scheduled shuttle to Universal. Breakfast and parking cost extra on most bookings, so the real price depends on how you book.

It is not a Universal hotel, so a room here does not include Early Park Admission or an Express pass. Its neighbor on Caravan Court is the Hyatt House across from Universal, a separate hotel with kitchen suites. Part of the hotel’s Booking.com description still uses the older name, Hyatt Place Orlando Universal.

Quick answer: Book Hyatt Place across from Universal Orlando Resort if you want a simple, dog-friendly room for up to four people, a 22-minute walk to CityWalk and a free Universal shuttle. Budget for parking (US$25 a day on Booking.com) and breakfast (not included in any Booking.com rate we checked). Choose the Hyatt House next door if you need a kitchen or breakfast in the rate.

Hyatt Place Orlando/Universal at a glance

  • Area/address: 5976 Caravan Court, Orlando, FL 32819, a side street off Major Boulevard between Kirkman Road and I-4, next door to Hyatt House across from Universal. Hyatt lists 150 rooms.
  • Distances: about 1 mile on foot to CityWalk (22 minutes); about 1.5 road miles to Universal’s parking garages, 4 to 4.5 to Epic Universe’s parking, 7 to SeaWorld, 9.5 to Disney Springs and 12 to 14 to Orlando International Airport (our routes, rounded).
  • Rooms and who they sleep: one king bed or two queen beds, always with a sofa bed, in rooms of about 355 to 390 sq ft. One two-queen room type adds a set of bunk beds. Booking.com’s rates in our searches allowed up to four guests per room.
  • Pools/water features: one heated outdoor pool, per Hyatt. No slides, splash pad or hot tub are listed.
  • Breakfast: a Breakfast Bar with egg bites, bacon, waffles, fruit and yogurt. It is free for World of Hyatt members paying an eligible rate. On Booking.com it was an add-on at US$8.52 per person per night in our samples.
  • Restaurants: The Placery at the lobby bar and The Market for grab-and-go items. There is no full-service restaurant.
  • Parking: US$25 a day on Booking.com on October 28, 2026, with no reservation needed. Hyatt’s September 2025 page listed $22.
  • Resort fee: none on Hyatt’s page or in Booking.com’s price breakdowns, which showed one “14.50 % TAX” line on top of the room rate.
  • Park perks and best for: Hyatt calls it a Universal Partner Hotel, with a free scheduled shuttle and discounts at select Universal food and merchandise locations, but no Early Park Admission or Express. It suits couples and families of four who will walk or ride the shuttle.

Location and distances from Hyatt Place Orlando/Universal

The hotel sits in the hotel cluster east of Universal Orlando, across Kirkman Road from CityWalk and the two original parks. Epic Universe is about 4 road miles to the south. Hyatt’s “Things to do” list gives what appear to be straight-line figures (CityWalk 0.55 miles, Epic Universe 2.42 miles), so the real walks and drives are longer. The table shows our routes on public roads to each park’s parking entrance, rounded, with the return trip where it is longer.

Rooms at Hyatt Place across from Universal: sofa beds and bunk beds

Hyatt describes “150 spaces featuring Cozy Corners with sleeper sofas,” plus a workspace and a modern bathroom. Its May 2026 page lists eight room types, including three accessible rooms and “Two Queen Beds with Sofa Bed with Bunk Beds”. Sizes are Booking.com’s figures, converted from square meters; Hyatt gives none.

Room type (Booking.com name)BedsSizeBooking.com limit
King Room with Sofa Bed (also High Floor)1 king + sofa bedAbout 375 sq ftUp to 4
King, accessible tub or roll-in shower1 king + sofa bedAbout 375 to 390 sq ftUp to 4
Two Queen Beds with Sofa Bed and Tub2 queens + sofa bedAbout 355 sq ft (375 on high floors)Up to 6 listed; rates for 4
Two Queen Beds, Sofa Bed and Bunk Beds2 queens + sofa bed + bunk bedsAbout 375 sq ftUp to 6 listed; rates for 4

The bunk-bed room is the family choice. Booking.com’s room details list the two-queen rooms for up to six guests, but in our January 2027 search for two adults and three children, every rate was capped at four people per room. A party of five should confirm with the hotel first. Per Booking.com, cribs are free on request for children up to 2, and extra beds are not available.

These are not kitchen rooms. Booking.com lists a refrigerator, a microwave and a coffee maker, and some rooms in the hotel’s photos have a wet bar with a sink, but no stovetop is listed. Housekeeping is a point to confirm: Booking.com’s description says light housekeeping every other day, with full service after the fourth night, while its facilities list shows daily housekeeping.

Pool and recreation

The pool is one rectangular outdoor pool on a fenced deck with loungers, umbrellas and patio seating. Hyatt calls it heated and mentions towels. Booking.com lists it as free, open all year and open to all ages. Neither page publishes pool hours.

Neither Hyatt nor Booking.com lists a slide, splash pad or lazy river. As an off-site hotel, it also gives no access to the pools at Universal’s own hotels.

Breakfast and dining

Hyatt’s Breakfast Bar serves egg bites with bacon and waffles, or lighter choices such as fruit and yogurt. Hyatt’s page says to “book a special room rate with breakfast included or add it to your stay at check-in,” and that “World of Hyatt members enjoy free breakfast when paying an eligible rate.” Hyatt does not publish the serving hours.

On Booking.com, none of the rates we checked for November 2026, January 2027 and March 2027 included breakfast. Each rate offered it at US$8.52 per person per night. For two adults and two children over three nights, that adds 4 × 3 × $8.52 = $102.24, if the price applies to every guest, so confirm child pricing with the hotel. World of Hyatt perks, including the member breakfast, apply only to eligible rates booked directly with Hyatt.

Later in the day, The Placery at the lobby bar serves a burger, a Chicken Caesar Salad and a Turkey Pesto Sandwich with drinks, and The Market sells packaged grab-and-go items. Booking.com’s description says food is available 24 hours a day. If free breakfast is a priority, our guide to hotels near Universal with free breakfast lists hotels that include it with every stay.

Parking, taxes and fees

There is no resort fee. Hyatt’s May 2026 page lists no resort fee amount, and Booking.com’s price breakdowns for our sample stays showed no resort or service charge. Rates vary by season, availability and how far ahead you book. Two charges need attention:

  • Parking: Booking.com’s facilities list says on-site parking “costs US$25 per day” and needs no reservation. Hyatt’s September 2025 parking page listed $22 a day. Treat $25 as current and confirm it at check-in.
  • Tax: Booking.com showed one “14.50 % TAX” line on top of the room rate for every sample stay. On the same November dates, the Hyatt House next door showed 12.5%, the usual Orange County hotel tax. Neither Hyatt nor Booking.com explains the difference, so check the final total before you pay.

Walking still saves money. Universal charges $35 a day, tax included, for regular self-parking at its garages and at Epic Universe. On four park days you pay 4 × $25 = $100 at the hotel; driving to the parks as well adds 4 × $35 = $140. Universal’s garages are free after 6 p.m., except on Halloween Horror Nights event nights and December 31; this does not apply at Epic Universe.

Getting to Universal, Epic Universe and the other parks

Walking. Our foot route to the middle of CityWalk is about 1 mile, or 22 minutes. It goes from Caravan Court to Major Boulevard, crosses Kirkman Road at the signalized crossing and follows Universal’s entrance road. Universal Studios Florida and Islands of Adventure are a few minutes beyond CityWalk. Allow extra time with a stroller or at night.

Shuttle. Hyatt’s May 2026 page describes “free, scheduled transportation to and from Universal Orlando Resort, SeaWorld Orlando, and Aquatica (based on availability).” Booking.com says the complimentary Universal shuttle runs “at select times.” Hyatt’s September 2025 parking page named only the Universal shuttle. Neither page publishes a timetable, a return pick-up point or Epic Universe service, so ask the front desk on arrival.

Driving. Epic Universe’s parking toll plaza is about 4 to 4.5 miles via Kirkman Road and Epic Boulevard, roughly 10 to 11 minutes without traffic; our guide to hotels near Epic Universe compares closer options. Early Park Admission is not included: Universal offers it to guests of its own hotels and other selected groups, and its terms require other guests to hold a ticket that states the benefit.

Amenities: fitness, Wi-Fi, pets and accessibility

Hyatt lists a 24-hour fitness center with Life Fitness cardio machines and free weights, plus towels, water and earbuds. It also lists free Wi-Fi, business services, digital check-in and 840 sq ft of meeting space. Hyatt’s amenity list includes no spa and no kids’ club.

The hotel accepts dogs, which its Hyatt House neighbor does not. Hyatt’s May 2026 page allows up to two dogs per room, each under 50 pounds and under 75 pounds combined, for $100 per stay (1 to 6 nights) or $200 per stay (7 to 30 nights; Hyatt labels this tier “+ additional cleaning fee”). Our list of pet-friendly hotels near Universal compares other fees and weight limits.

Hyatt lists accessible routes to the pool, fitness center, guest rooms and restaurant, and “accessible transportation with advance notice.” Check-in is at 3 p.m. and check-out at noon. Booking.com asks for a photo ID and a credit card, does not accept cash and lists no minimum check-in age.

Who it suits

This hotel suits couples and families of up to four who will walk or take the shuttle to Universal’s original parks and do not need on-site perks. The bunk-bed room helps families with two children, the dog policy helps pet owners, and World of Hyatt members on an eligible Hyatt rate get the free breakfast. It suits less well if you want breakfast in a Booking.com rate, a kitchen, a resort-style pool or Early Park Admission.

Pros

  • About 1 mile on foot to CityWalk, about 22 minutes, with a signalized crossing at Kirkman Road.
  • A free scheduled Universal shuttle; Hyatt also lists SeaWorld and Aquatica, based on availability.
  • A sofa bed in every room, plus a bunk-bed room type for families.
  • No resort fee on Hyatt’s page or in Booking.com’s price breakdowns.
  • Dogs are welcome, with a per-stay fee instead of a nightly one.
  • Heated outdoor pool, 24-hour fitness center and a lobby bar with food.

Limitations to know

  • No Booking.com rate we checked included breakfast; it cost US$8.52 per person per night.
  • Parking costs US$25 a day on Booking.com at the time of writing.
  • Booking.com showed a 14.5% tax line, two points more than at the Hyatt House next door.
  • The shuttle has no published timetable, and the hotel’s pages do not say whether it serves Epic Universe.
  • No kitchen: Booking.com lists a refrigerator, a microwave and a coffee maker, but no stovetop.
  • No Early Park Admission, no Express pass and no access to Universal’s hotel pools.

What to check before you book

  • Compare a Booking.com rate plus breakfast with a breakfast-included rate, or with a direct Hyatt rate if you are a World of Hyatt member.
  • Confirm the daily parking rate and the tax line in the final price breakdown.
  • Ask for the shuttle schedule, the return pick-up point and whether you need to reserve a seat.
  • For five or more guests, confirm the maximum occupancy of the bunk-bed room in writing.
  • Ask whether housekeeping is daily or every other day for your stay.

Yes, according to the hotel. Hyatt’s May 2026 page describes free, scheduled transportation to Universal Orlando Resort, SeaWorld and Aquatica, based on availability. Booking.com says the complimentary Universal shuttle runs at select times. Neither page publishes a timetable or says whether the shuttle serves Epic Universe, so ask the front desk for departure and return times when you arrive.

Can you walk from Hyatt Place to Universal Studios?

Yes. Our foot route to the middle of CityWalk is about 1 mile, or 22 minutes, via Major Boulevard and the signalized crossing of Kirkman Road. Universal Studios Florida and Islands of Adventure are a few minutes beyond CityWalk. Hyatt’s figure of 0.55 miles is a straight-line distance. Epic Universe is about 4 road miles away, so drive or take a rideshare there.

Is breakfast free at Hyatt Place Orlando/Universal?

Not for most Booking.com guests. Hyatt makes breakfast free for World of Hyatt members paying an eligible rate, and other guests book a breakfast rate or add it at check-in. None of the Booking.com rates we checked included breakfast; each offered it at US$8.52 per person per night.

How much is parking at Hyatt Place across from Universal?

Booking.com’s facilities list showed parking at US$25 per day on October 28, 2026, with no reservation needed. Hyatt’s September 2025 parking page listed $22 a day. Confirm the rate in your final total. Universal’s garages charge $35 a day, tax included, so walking or riding the shuttle saves that fee on park days.

Does Hyatt Place Orlando/Universal have a resort fee?

No. Hyatt’s archived page shows no resort fee, and Booking.com’s price breakdowns for our November 2026, January 2027 and March 2027 sample stays showed no resort or service charge. Is Hyatt Place across from Universal pet-friendly?

Yes, for dogs. Hyatt’s May 2026 page allows up to two dogs per room, each under 50 pounds and under 75 pounds combined. The fee is $100 per stay for 1 to 6 nights, or $200 for 7 to 30 nights, a tier Hyatt labels “+ additional cleaning fee”, so confirm the total. Booking.com says pets are allowed and charges may apply.

Bottom line

Hyatt Place Orlando/Universal is a practical, walkable base for Universal’s original parks, with a sofa bed in every room, a bunk-bed option, a free shuttle, no resort fee and a welcome for dogs. The catches are paid parking, a breakfast that Booking.com guests pay for, a higher tax line and no on-site Universal perks. Price it with parking and breakfast before you compare it with the hotels next door.
