Loews Sapphire Falls Resort is the Caribbean-themed hotel on Universal Orlando’s resort campus that gives you Early Park Admission, free water taxis and a huge pool with a sand beach, but not the free Universal Express Unlimited that comes with three of its sister hotels: Hard Rock Hotel, Loews Portofino Bay Hotel and Loews Royal Pacific Resort. That missing perk is a big part of why its rates usually run below those of its next-door neighbor, Royal Pacific.
Below: what the hotel includes, how you get to each park (Epic Universe too), which rooms fit a family of five, what parking costs, and when the lower rate is the smarter buy. Facts come from the hotel’s and Universal’s official pages; fees and perks change, so confirm them when you book. Still comparing hotels? See our guide to every hotel near Universal Studios Orlando.
Quick answer: Book Sapphire Falls if you want a full-service Universal resort and don’t need Express on every park day, or you’d rather buy it for one busy day only. Families who need one room for five should look at the 529 sq ft Kids’ Suite. If you want unlimited Express at Universal Studios Florida and Islands of Adventure throughout your stay, price Loews Royal Pacific Resort for the same dates, because Express Unlimited is included there.

Park perks: what’s included and what isn’t
Universal places Sapphire Falls in its top-tier Signature Collection, which leads many travelers to assume Express comes with the room. It doesn’t. Universal and Loews list free Express Unlimited only for guests of Loews Portofino Bay Hotel, Hard Rock Hotel and Loews Royal Pacific Resort, and even there it covers Universal Studios Florida and Islands of Adventure only, not Epic Universe or Volcano Bay. Our guide to Universal hotels with Express Pass explains how that perk works.
What you do get, per the official benefits page at the time of writing:
- Early Park Admission: entry up to one hour before regular opening at select attractions. Depending on the day, that covers Universal Studios Florida and/or Islands of Adventure (Universal decides which), Volcano Bay (weather permitting) and Epic Universe. Bring your room key and valid park admission. Our Universal Early Park Admission guide explains how to plan those early hours.
- Room charging: purchases across the resort can be charged to your room key card.
- Merchandise delivery: purchases from Universal shops can be delivered free to your hotel.
What you don’t get: Express Unlimited, and the Priority Seating perk at select park and CityWalk restaurants, which Loews lists only for the three Express hotels. You can still buy Express: at the time of writing, Universal sells single-use Express at all four parks, including Epic Universe, and Express Unlimited at Universal Studios Florida and Islands of Adventure, with prices that vary by date.
Getting to the parks from Sapphire Falls
Sapphire Falls has three free ways to reach CityWalk, the gateway to Universal Studios Florida and Islands of Adventure. Epic Universe is shuttle-only.
| Destination | How | Typical time | Good to know |
|---|---|---|---|
| CityWalk, USF, IOA | Water taxi | Under 10 min on board | Docks at CityWalk; walk on to the gates |
| CityWalk, USF, IOA | Garden walkway | About half a mile to CityWalk | No streets to cross |
| CityWalk | Shuttle bus | Short ride; varies | Buses about every 30 min |
| Epic Universe | Shuttle bus | About 15 to 25 min (planner estimate) | No path or boat to Epic |
| Volcano Bay | Walking path or shuttle | Short walk via Cabana Bay | Closed from Oct 26, 2026; expected back by Apr 1, 2027 |
The water taxi is the nicest way to start a day at the original two parks: Universal puts the average ride at under 10 minutes, and planners such as Orlando Informer report that boats start before Early Park Admission begins. The garden walkway runs roughly half a mile past Royal Pacific to a side entrance at CityWalk near Jimmy Buffett’s Margaritaville, with no streets to cross. From there, Islands of Adventure is a few minutes’ walk across the bridge, and Universal Studios Florida is a little farther.

Shuttle buses are the only free way to Epic Universe. Universal’s transportation guide lists the Sapphire Falls bus about every 30 minutes, less often than at Cabana Bay, Aventura or the hotels beside Epic Universe, so catch an early one on Early Park Admission mornings. If Epic is the focus of your trip, our hotels near Epic Universe guide covers the hotels within walking distance.
Volcano Bay has a dedicated walking path from Sapphire Falls plus a shuttle, but the hotel says the water park closes for the season beginning October 26, 2026, and is expected to reopen on or before April 1, 2027; the walking path is unavailable during the closure. There’s no free airport shuttle listed; private car service from Orlando International Airport is available through Destination MCO (fees apply).
Rooms and suites at Sapphire Falls
The 1,000 rooms, 83 of them suites, have a Caribbean-inspired design; the hotel’s photos show white plank headboards, blue accent walls and wave-pattern carpet. Standard rooms are 321 sq ft, a little smaller than Royal Pacific’s 335 sq ft rooms, and come in standard, pool-view and lagoon-view versions.

| Room type | Beds | Size | Max guests |
|---|---|---|---|
| Standard, pool or lagoon view | 2 queens | 321 sq ft | 5 |
| King room (pool or lagoon view) | King + sleeper sofa | 321 sq ft | 4 |
| King Suite | King + sleeper sofa | 595 sq ft | 4 |
| Kids’ Suite | King + 2 twins | 529 sq ft | 5 |
| Sapphire Suite | King + sleeper sofa | 851 sq ft | 5 |
| Kids’ Suite + 2-queen bedroom | King, 2 twins, 2 queens | 850 sq ft | 10 |
| 2-Bedroom Sapphire Suite | King, 2 queens + sofa | 1,172 sq ft | 10 |
The Kids’ Suite pairs a king bedroom with a connecting kids’ room that has two twin beds and themed décor, and, per Universal, the kids’ room opens only into the adults’ room, not onto the hallway. Loews lists it for up to five guests. Royal Pacific’s Jurassic World Kids’ Suite is bigger (670 sq ft) and movie-themed, so compare both if theming matters to your children.

House rules for larger parties, at the time of writing: rollaway beds cost $35 plus tax per day and are first come, first served, Pack ‘n Play cribs are free, and an extra $25 applies per adult beyond two in a room. For other ways to fit five or six people in one room, see our roundup of rooms that sleep 5 or 6 at Disney World and Universal.
Pool, dining and amenities
The pool is the hotel’s showpiece. Universal calls it the largest pool at Universal Orlando Resort: a 16,000 sq ft zero-entry pool with two sand beaches, cascading waterfalls, a waterslide, a children’s play area and a hot tub. Private cabanas are available to rent, Loews lists poolside activities such as hula-hoop contests and water balloon tosses, and there’s a fire pit for evenings.
Dining is compact but covers every meal:
- Amatista Cookhouse: the full-service restaurant, with Caribbean-inspired dishes and water views at breakfast, lunch and dinner.
- Strong Water Tavern: the lobby lounge and rum bar, with rare and vintage rums, rum tastings, tapas-style plates and a ceviche bar.
- Drhum Club Kantine: the pool bar and grill, with a seafood-inspired menu and tropical drinks.
- New Dutch Trading Co.: a Caribbean-style grab-and-go market with ready-to-go meals, sandwiches and coffee, handy before an early park start.
- In-room dining: available 24 hours a day.

Other amenities include the free Kalina Health + Fitness gym (each locker room has a dry sauna), an arcade and a business center. For more choice at dinner, Royal Pacific’s restaurants are a short walk away and CityWalk is one boat ride.
Check-in, cancellation and other policies
- Wi-Fi: free for up to four devices per room; premium Wi-Fi is $14.95 per 24 hours for up to eight devices.
- Check-in and check-out: 4 pm and 11 am. Mobile check-in in the Universal Orlando Resort app works for reservations booked directly with Loews and linked to a Universal account; you still stop at the front desk to pick up your keys.
- Cancellation: at the time of writing, the hotel’s standard policy gives a full refund if you cancel 6 or more days before arrival and charges one night plus tax within 5 days. Special rates and third-party bookings follow their own terms.
- Pets: up to two pets are allowed in designated rooms for a one-time $150 fee per stay, with proof of vaccinations.
- Age: you must be 21 to book a room.

Sapphire Falls vs Royal Pacific: is skipping Express worth it?
Royal Pacific is next door on the same walkway, shares the tropical theme and charges the same parking rates. The real difference is Express Unlimited, and the higher nightly rate that usually comes with it.
| Feature | Sapphire Falls | Royal Pacific |
|---|---|---|
| Free Express Unlimited (USF, IOA) | No | Yes |
| Early Park Admission | Yes | Yes |
| Standard room | 321 sq ft | 335 sq ft |
| Kids’ Suite | 529 sq ft, themed kids’ room | 670 sq ft, Jurassic World |
| Pool | 16,000 sq ft, beach, waterslide | Lagoon-style pool, beach, kids’ water play area |
| Walk to CityWalk | About half a mile | Shorter, same path |
At the time of writing, Loews values the Express Unlimited included at Royal Pacific at $199.99 per person per day, based on a weighted average of 2-park Express Unlimited prices. So on busy dates, Royal Pacific can be the better deal for a group that would buy Express anyway. To check, multiply the Express price for your dates by the people in your room and your Universal Studios Florida and Islands of Adventure days, then compare that with Royal Pacific’s extra cost across all your nights.
Sapphire Falls comes out ahead in quieter weeks, on Epic-heavy trips (the hotel Express perk doesn’t apply there), with young kids who won’t ride much, or when Early Park Admission plus one day of paid Express is enough. Our Loews Royal Pacific Resort guide covers the other side of the decision.

Frequently asked questions
Does Loews Sapphire Falls Resort include Universal Express?
No. Sapphire Falls is in Universal’s Signature Collection, but free Express Unlimited is limited to Hard Rock Hotel, Loews Portofino Bay Hotel and Loews Royal Pacific Resort, and only at Universal Studios Florida and Islands of Adventure. Sapphire Falls guests get Early Park Admission, free transportation, room charging and merchandise delivery, and can buy Express separately if they want it.
Can you walk from Sapphire Falls to Universal Studios and Islands of Adventure?
Yes. A landscaped garden walkway of roughly half a mile runs from Sapphire Falls past Loews Royal Pacific Resort to a side entrance at CityWalk, with no streets to cross, and you continue on foot to either park gate. If you’d rather not walk in the heat, the free water taxi takes under 10 minutes on average, according to Universal.
How do Sapphire Falls guests get to Epic Universe?
By free shuttle bus. There’s no walking path or water taxi from Sapphire Falls to Epic Universe. Universal’s transportation guide lists Sapphire Falls buses about every 30 minutes, and planners estimate a 15 to 25 minute ride. Hotel guests also get Early Park Admission at Epic Universe, so catch an early bus on those mornings.
Does Sapphire Falls charge a resort fee or for parking?
No resort fee appears among the hotel’s published charges at the time of writing, but parking isn’t free: overnight self-parking is $36 and valet is $45 per vehicle per night, plus tax. Standard Wi-Fi is free. Rates can change, so confirm the full total, taxes included, before you book.
How many people can stay in a room at Sapphire Falls?
Standard two-queen rooms list a maximum of five guests, and king rooms with a sleeper sofa list four. The Kids’ Suite also sleeps five, and the largest two-bedroom suites go up to ten. At the time of writing, rollaways cost $35 plus tax per day (limited supply), and $25 applies per extra adult beyond two.
Is Sapphire Falls cheaper than Royal Pacific?
Usually, for the same dates; planners such as Undercover Tourist describe it as the most affordable Signature Collection hotel, largely because it doesn’t include Express Unlimited. Whether it’s the better value depends on whether you’d buy Express anyway: at the time of writing, Loews values Royal Pacific’s included Express at $199.99 per person per day. Price both hotels for your exact nights and compare the difference with what Express would cost your group.
