Universal Endless Summer Resort is usually the lowest-priced way to stay on-site at Universal Orlando. It’s two value hotels, Surfside Inn and Suites and Dockside Inn and Suites, that face each other across Universal Boulevard and share the same room types, perks and free shuttle buses. Both sit in Universal’s Value Inns and Suites tier, alongside Cabana Bay Beach Resort.
Between them, the two hotels have 2,800 rooms, and about 1,450 are two-bedroom suites that sleep six, which is why larger families like the resort. You get Early Park Admission and free buses to every Universal park, but not Universal Express, water taxis or a walking path. If you’re still comparing price tiers, our guide to the cheapest Universal Orlando hotels puts Endless Summer next to Cabana Bay and the Epic Universe hotels.
Quick answer: Book Endless Summer if you want Universal hotel perks at the lowest on-site price, or if a family of 5 or 6 needs two bedrooms without paying for two rooms. Pick Dockside for two pools, more bars and the bigger food court. Pick Surfside for a smaller, calmer hotel with the same suites. If you want to walk to the parks, look at Cabana Bay, which usually costs a bit more. For free Universal Express, you need Portofino Bay, Hard Rock Hotel or Royal Pacific.

Dockside vs Surfside: what’s different
The rooms, suites, price tier and perks are the same. Dockside is almost three times larger and has more to do; Surfside is smaller and easier to get around.
| Feature | Dockside Inn and Suites | Surfside Inn and Suites |
|---|---|---|
| Opened | December 2020 | June 2019 |
| Rooms | 2,050 (1,059 suites) | 750 (390 suites) |
| Pools | 2 pools, splash area, sand beaches | 1 surfboard-shaped pool |
| Bars | 2 pool bars, Sunset Lounge | Sand Bar (pool bar) |
| Food court | Pier 8 Market | Beach Break Cafe |
| Views offered | Standard, pool view | Standard, pool view, water-view suites |
In a 2021 comparison, TouringPlans found Pier 8 Market more spacious and a bit more varied than Beach Break Cafe, and noted that Dockside had a reputation for slow elevators and crowding at busy times. Choose Dockside if your kids will spend afternoons at the pool or you want a lobby bar. Choose Surfside if you want a quieter hotel and will mostly use it to sleep. If one is noticeably cheaper on your dates, book it: the rooms are the same.

Rooms and two-bedroom suites
Both hotels offer the same two room types with the same layouts. Standard rooms are 313 sq ft with two queen beds and sleep up to 4. Pool-view rooms are available, as are accessible rooms with roll-in showers or ADA tubs.
The two-bedroom suites are why many families pick Endless Summer. Each 440 sq ft suite has one bedroom with two queen beds and a second bedroom with one queen, so it sleeps up to 6. There’s a kitchenette area with a picnic-style table, a mini-fridge, a sink and a microwave. The suite has one bathroom, with a two-sink vanity area separate from the tub and toilet. Surfside also offers water-view suites.

Loews lists a mini-fridge, coffee maker, in-room safe, flat-panel TV and free Wi-Fi in every room. Dockside provides free Pack ‘n Play cribs on request, and both hotels have guest laundry with coin- and card-operated washers and dryers.
A suite holds up to 6 people and a standard room up to 4, children included. At the time of writing, each adult beyond 2 in a room costs $15 a night. So 2 adults and 4 kids in a suite pay nothing extra, while 4 adults and 2 kids pay $30 a night more, before tax. For other layouts, see our guide to rooms that sleep 5 or 6 at Disney World and Universal.
Pools and things to do
Dockside has two large pools with sand beaches and a children’s splash area. Each pool has its own bar: The Wave Maker’s Pool Bar and The Oasis Beach Bar. That makes Dockside the better choice if your kids want pool time between park days.

Surfside has one large, surfboard-shaped pool next to a small lake, with the Sand Bar beside it. Loews lists a splash pad. Orlando Informer describes it as water jets built into one end of the pool and notes there’s no hot tub, fire pit or cabanas. Neither hotel lists a waterslide or lazy river. If you want those, look at Cabana Bay.
Both hotels run poolside activities such as Ping-Pong and Connect Four (ask the front desk for the schedule). Each also has a free fitness center, a game room, a Universal Studios Store for sundries and Universal vacation planners in the lobby who can sell you park tickets or help you pick them up.
Where to eat
Neither hotel has a table-service restaurant, so save sit-down meals for CityWalk or the parks.
- Pier 8 Market (Dockside): a food court for breakfast, lunch and dinner, with grab-and-go options.
- Beach Break Cafe (Surfside): a food court with Southern California-inspired dishes, open for all three meals.
- Starbucks: in both lobbies.
- Bars: Sunset Lounge in the Dockside lobby, plus a pool bar at each pool.
- Pizza delivery: both hotels deliver pizza to your room during limited hours.

Breakfast isn’t included, but a suite’s mini-fridge and microwave make simple in-room breakfasts easy. TouringPlans has also mentioned shops, restaurants and a Walgreens within walking distance.
Getting to the parks
You can only reach the parks by shuttle from Endless Summer: there’s no walking path and no water taxi. Universal’s free buses go directly from each hotel to three places:
- Universal CityWalk hub: from here you walk to Universal Studios Florida or Islands of Adventure.
- Epic Universe: buses go straight to the park.
- Volcano Bay: a separate bus route. Universal plans to close Volcano Bay for maintenance starting October 26, 2026, and to reopen on or before April 1, 2027. The dates can change.

Universal’s transportation guide says buses from Endless Summer come about every 15 minutes (its hotel FAQ says every 30), start an hour before Early Park Admission and take about 10 to 20 minutes depending on the park and traffic. Schedules can change, so leave extra time if you want to be at the gate for Early Park Admission.
From the airport, Universal lists the SuperStar Shuttle (fees apply), and each hotel has an Avis car rental desk. The free buses only go to Universal’s parks, so for Disney or SeaWorld days you’ll need a car, a rideshare or a paid shuttle.
Universal hotel perks: what’s included and what’s not
Endless Summer guests get the core benefits that come with every Universal hotel:
- Early Park Admission: enter a participating theme park up to an hour before regular opening for select attractions, with your room key and a valid ticket. Since May 2025 it can include Epic Universe. The participating park changes by date, so check Universal’s park hours. Our Universal Early Park Admission guide explains how it works.
- Free transportation: buses to every Universal park, as described above.
- Room charging: charge purchases across the resort to your key card.
- Package delivery: purchases from select shops in the parks and CityWalk can be delivered to your hotel (restrictions apply).
What you don’t get:
- Universal Express: free Express Unlimited comes only with Loews Portofino Bay, Hard Rock Hotel and Loews Royal Pacific, and it works only at Universal Studios Florida and Islands of Adventure. See which Universal hotels include Express Pass.
- Priority Seating: this is only for guests of select Signature Collection hotels.
- Other hotels’ pools: according to Orlando Informer, Endless Summer guests can’t use the pools at Universal’s other hotels.
- Pets: Loews says no pets are permitted at either hotel. Some Signature Collection hotels accept pets for a fee.
Fees, parking and booking terms
Neither hotel’s official page lists a resort fee, so your bill is easier to predict. These are the extras at the time of writing:
| Item | Amount or rule | Note |
|---|---|---|
| Resort fee | None listed | Check your confirmation |
| Overnight self-parking | $26 + tax per night | Per vehicle |
| Extra adult | $15 per night | Beyond 2 adults per room |
| Hotel tax | 12.5% | 6.5% state + 6% county |
| Check-in / check-out | 4 pm / 11 am | Ask about late check-out |
| Minimum age to book | 21 | Loews policy |
If you book directly with Universal, the deposit is the first night plus tax. Universal lists a full refund for cancellations six or more days before arrival at Dockside and five or more at Surfside, and one night’s rate plus tax after that. Booking.com reservations follow the conditions of the rate you choose. Mobile check-in through the Universal Orlando Resort app works only for reservations booked directly with Universal Orlando (or Universal Parks & Resorts Vacations) and linked to your Universal account. Fees and policies can change without notice, so check current terms.
Best for and not ideal for
Best for:
- Families of 5 or 6 who want two bedrooms on one bill.
- Budget travelers who want Early Park Admission and free Universal buses without paying Prime Value rates.
- Trips without a car, since buses cover every Universal park, including direct routes to Epic Universe and CityWalk.
Not ideal for:
- Travelers who want to walk to the parks or take a boat.
- Anyone counting on free Universal Express.
- Groups of 7 or more who want one room (the limit is 6).
- Travelers who want a hot tub, a spa or a table-service restaurant at the hotel.
- Disney-focused trips, since there’s no free Disney transportation.
Nearby alternatives
- Universal Cabana Bay Beach Resort: the other value-tier hotel, which usually costs a little more. It has walking paths to CityWalk, Universal Studios Florida and Islands of Adventure (Volcano Bay’s path closes during its maintenance closure), plus a lazy river, a waterslide and a bowling alley (fees apply). Its roughly 430 sq ft Family Suites sleep 6 in one room with a partition, and extra adults cost $20 a night at the time of writing.
- Universal Stella Nova and Terra Luna: Prime Value hotels next to Epic Universe. Their 315 sq ft rooms sleep 4, and Stella Nova has a walking path to the park. Compare them in Stella Nova vs Terra Luna and our guide to hotels near Epic Universe.
- Off-site hotels: these can cost less per night, but you lose Universal’s free hotel buses and usually Early Park Admission (some Partner Hotels include it only with a Universal package), and some add resort fees. See our picks for hotels near Universal Studios for every budget.
Tips for a smoother stay
- Price one suite against two rooms: for 5 or 6 people, a suite gives you a second bedroom and a kitchenette, while two standard rooms give you a second bathroom.
- Ask for a convenient room: Dockside is large, so if walking distance matters, request a room near the lobby and bus stop. Requests aren’t guaranteed.
- Know the light switch trick: TouringPlans has noted that Dockside rooms use an energy-saving key card slot by the door to keep the lights on.
- Check direct deals: Universal offers Florida resident, Annual Passholder and package rates, and at the time of writing Loews advertises up to 25% off stays of five nights or more at Dockside and Surfside (its shared fine print cites 15% to 30%). Compare them with Booking.com for the same room and dates.
