Cabana Bay vs Aventura vs Endless Summer is the decision most families face once they decide to stay on-site at Universal Orlando without paying Signature Collection prices. All three come with Early Park Admission, free buses to every Universal park, room-key charging and no published resort fee, and none includes Universal Express. Beyond that they differ a lot: a big retro resort with Family Suites and a lazy river; a modern tower with small rooms and a rooftop bar; and two beach-themed hotels with two-bedroom suites for six.

Facts come from Loews and Universal pages checked in October 2026. One seasonal change matters: Volcano Bay closes from October 26, 2026, with reopening expected on or before April 1, 2027, and the Cabana Bay and Aventura paths to it close too.

Quick answer: Book Cabana Bay for the best pools of the three (a waterslide and a lazy river), a 430 sq ft Family Suite with a kitchenette for up to six, bowling and a walking path to the two original parks. Book Aventura if you are a couple or a family of up to four who prefers a quiet, modern room and a rooftop bar, and can live with a simpler pool and $4 more a night for parking. Book Endless Summer (Dockside or Surfside) if price matters most or you need two real bedrooms for five or six, and a daily bus ride suits you.

Universal Cabana Bay Beach Resort: retro, big and built for families

Cabana Bay is the biggest single hotel here, with 2,200 rooms themed after Florida beach resorts of the 1950s and ’60s, yet it sits in Universal’s Value Inns and Suites tier. Loews lists 1,280 Standard Rooms for up to 4, 920 Family Suites with kitchenettes for up to 6 and Volcano Bay View 2-Bedroom Suites for 8. Two pool courtyards, a 10-lane bowling alley and an arcade make it the most resort-like of the group; the trade-off is its size. Our Universal Cabana Bay Beach Resort review has the room-by-room detail.

Universal Aventura Hotel: the modern tower with a rooftop bar

Aventura opened in August 2018 as a 600-room glass tower in the Prime Value tier, between Cabana Bay and Loews Sapphire Falls. Loews lists only 11 suites, so almost every room is 238 to 395 sq ft and sleeps four. The Kids’ Suite sleeps five, with two twin beds in a separate kids’ area, and a version with a second two-queen bedroom sleeps nine. The single pool has a splash zone and a fire pit; the rooftop Bar 17 Bistro and the Urban Pantry food hall are what set the hotel apart. Our Universal Aventura Hotel review covers every room category.

Universal Endless Summer Resort: Dockside and Surfside, the lowest-priced tier

Endless Summer is two hotels facing each other across Universal Boulevard, south of I-4 and about 1.3 miles by road from Universal’s parking garages. Surfside Inn and Suites opened in June 2019 with 750 rooms, 390 of them 2-Bedroom Suites; Dockside Inn and Suites followed in December 2020 with 2,050 rooms, 1,059 of them suites. Both share Cabana Bay’s tier and the same two room types: a 313 sq ft standard room with two queens for four, and a 440 sq ft 2-Bedroom Suite with three queens, a kitchenette and one bathroom, for six. Dockside has two pools, a splash pad, two pool bars and the Sunset Lounge; Surfside has one surfboard-shaped pool, a splash pad and the Sand Bar. Our Universal Endless Summer Resort guide goes deeper into Dockside vs Surfside.

Location and getting to the parks

Cabana Bay and Aventura sit side by side on the Volcano Bay side of the resort, each with a path to Volcano Bay and one to CityWalk, the gateway to Universal Studios Florida and Islands of Adventure. Endless Summer has neither, and none of the three can walk to Epic Universe.

FromWalk to CityWalkDrive to Epic Universe lotDrive to the airport (MCO)

AventuraAbout 1 mile, 20 to 25 minutesAbout 4.6 milesAbout 16 miles
Dockside or SurfsideNo path (about 1.3 miles by road)About 3.3 milesAbout 12.5 miles

Distances and walking times are rounded road and footpath routes from OpenStreetMap data. TouringPlans times the Cabana Bay walk at about 24 minutes to the Universal Studios Florida gate, and Orlando Informer puts Aventura’s Garden Walkway at 20 to 25 minutes to CityWalk. Walking skips the bus line on Early Park Admission mornings.

The buses stop at the CityWalk hub, Volcano Bay and Epic Universe, with rides Universal puts at 10 to 20 minutes, starting an hour before Early Park Admission. Frequency is where Universal’s own pages disagree: the hotel transportation guide (August 2025) says the shuttle arrives every 15 minutes at all three, while the hotel FAQ, checked this month, agrees for Cabana Bay and Aventura but lists Endless Summer among the hotels served every 30 minutes. Plan on a longer wait at Endless Summer until you see the posted schedule.

Avis desks at all three hotels rent cars, and Endless Summer is the closest of the three to SeaWorld, about 5 miles by road against about 6.3.

For five or six, the real choice is Cabana Bay’s Family Suite against Endless Summer’s 2-Bedroom Suite. The Family Suite is one room divided by a sliding partition, with the sleeper sofa in the living area, a kitchenette and a compartmentalized bathroom that Universal says lets three people get ready at once. The Endless Summer suite is 10 sq ft larger and gives you two bedrooms and three real beds, with one bathroom that has separate bath and vanity areas. Aventura’s Kids’ Suite is the only option for five there. For seven or eight, look at Cabana Bay’s 2-Bedroom Suite (two bathrooms) or, one tier up, Aventura’s nine-person Kids’ Suite with a 2-queen bedroom. Our guide to 2-bedroom suites near Universal Studios Orlando adds off-site suites with full kitchens.

Pools and things to do

Cabana Bay wins outright. The Cabana Courtyard pool has a zero-entry sand beach, a kids’ water play area and the dive-tower-themed waterslide; the Lazy River Courtyard has a second pool and a lazy river with waterfalls, with tubes sold rather than lent. Galaxy Bowl (bowling fees apply) and the Game-O-Rama arcade cover rainy afternoons.

Aventura’s single pool has a splash zone, a fire pit and, per Universal’s 2024 guide to the hotel, a hot tub: the simplest of the three. Endless Summer lands in between: Dockside has two large pools with a splash pad and two pool bars, Surfside one surfboard-shaped pool and a splash pad, and neither lists a hot tub, a slide or a lazy river. All three have free fitness centers, and Cabana Bay, Dockside and Surfside add game rooms.

Universal’s hotel FAQ lets guests of Portofino Bay, Hard Rock, Royal Pacific, Sapphire Falls, Cabana Bay and Aventura pool hop within that group and reserves the Endless Summer pools for Dockside and Surfside guests, leaving Endless Summer out. Loews’ Dockside and Surfside pages instead bar all Value Inns and Suites guests, Cabana Bay’s included, from Prime Value and Signature Collection pools, so confirm at the front desk.

Dining and breakfast

No breakfast is included at any of the three, and Galaxy Bowl’s restaurant at Cabana Bay is the only one Loews describes as table service.

  • Cabana Bay: the Bayliner Diner food court serves all three meals from deli, international, pizza, burger, salad and dessert stations; Atomic Tonic and The Hideaway Bar & Grille serve the pools; plus Swizzle Lounge, a Starbucks and pizza delivery.
  • Aventura: the Urban Pantry food hall has four stations inspired by Asian and European food halls; Bar 17 Bistro on the roof serves a Korean-inspired menu and cocktails; barVentura is the lobby bar, Bar Sol the pool bar, plus a lobby Starbucks.
  • Endless Summer: Pier 8 Market (Dockside) and Beach Break Cafe (Surfside) are food courts open for all three meals, with a Starbucks, pool bars and pizza delivery at each hotel and the Sunset Lounge at Dockside.

Only the suites help you cook: Cabana Bay’s Family Suites have a mini fridge, microwave and sink (its 2-Bedroom Suites a fridge and sink), and the Endless Summer suites a mini fridge and microwave. Every other room has a mini fridge and a coffee maker.

Perks: Early Park Admission yes, Universal Express no

All three get the same Universal hotel benefits. Early Park Admission lets you enter a theme park up to one hour before regular opening for select attractions; Universal chooses the participating parks by date, and Epic Universe has been included since May 23, 2025. At the time of writing, Universal’s calendar lists it at Islands of Adventure and Epic Universe from October 5 to November 30, 2026, and at Volcano Bay (up to 30 minutes early) through October 25. The terms call for a key card and a valid ticket, not a direct booking, so a Booking.com reservation should qualify; our guide to Universal Early Park Admission explains how to use the hour.

None of the three includes Universal Express: free Express Unlimited comes only with Loews Portofino Bay, Hard Rock Hotel and Loews Royal Pacific, and only at Universal Studios Florida and Islands of Adventure. You can buy Express on top of your ticket; Loews’ fine print cites a 2-Park Express Unlimited pass from $124.99 (or $129.99 on the Portofino Bay page) to $389.99 per person, depending on the date. See which Universal hotels include Express Pass if that matters more than price. Mobile check-in in the Universal app works only for direct bookings, and water taxis serve only Portofino Bay, Hard Rock, Royal Pacific and Sapphire Falls.

These are Loews’ published amounts in October 2026, subject to change. No resort fee appears in the published charges, but we found no official page that says “no resort fee” outright, so check the price breakdown before you pay. Universal’s park garages charge $35 a day including tax at the time of writing, so most guests leave the car at the hotel. Check-in is 4 pm and check-out 11 am at all three; for direct bookings Loews lists a full refund at all three if you cancel at least six days before arrival (Universal’s Surfside page still says five), while Booking.com rates follow their own conditions.

Which costs less, and when the deal flips

Endless Summer and Cabana Bay share Universal’s Value Inns and Suites tier and Aventura sits one tier up, but Universal’s hotel overview marks Endless Summer “$” and both Cabana Bay and Aventura “$$”, and it calls Surfside the lowest-priced on-site hotel. Rates vary by season, availability and how far ahead you book. Two things can flip the order: for five or six people, one suite often beats two standard rooms, and Endless Summer’s $15 extra-adult charge is the lowest. At the time of writing, Loews’ Stay and Save offer for direct bookings of five nights or more promises up to 30% off at Cabana Bay and Aventura and up to 25% at Dockside and Surfside (the shared fine print says 15% to 30%), for travel from September 8 to December 25, 2026 and January 3 to March 15, 2027; compare it with Booking.com for the same dates. Our list of the cheapest Universal Orlando hotels ranks the on-site tiers by fees, and our guide to cheap hotels near Universal Studios covers off-site options.

Choose Cabana Bay if…

  • Your kids want a waterslide, a lazy river and bowling without leaving the hotel.
  • You are five or six and want a Family Suite with a kitchenette and a divided bathroom, or seven or eight and need the 2-Bedroom Suite.
  • You want the option to walk to Universal Studios Florida and Islands of Adventure, or the path to Volcano Bay while the water park is open.

Choose Aventura if…

  • You are a couple, friends or a family of up to four who wants a modern, quiet room over a themed one.
  • A rooftop bar with park views and a food hall matter more than a pool with slides.
  • You want pool hopping and a path to CityWalk, and $4 more a night for parking does not bother you.

Choose Endless Summer if…

  • You want Universal hotel perks at the lowest on-site tier and will spend most of the day in the parks.
  • Five or six of you want two separate bedrooms and three real beds on one room rate.
  • You are fine riding the bus every day, and SeaWorld or International Drive are also on your plan.

If Epic Universe is the whole point of the trip, look instead at Universal’s Prime Value hotels next to the park, Stella Nova and Terra Luna: Stella Nova has a walking path that Universal puts at 5 to 10 minutes to Epic’s gate. Our Stella Nova vs Terra Luna comparison covers that choice, and our hub of the best hotels near Universal Studios Orlando compares every on-site tier with the off-site options.

Frequently asked questions

Is Cabana Bay or Aventura better for families?

Cabana Bay, for most families. It has two pools with a waterslide and a lazy river, bowling, an arcade and 920 Family Suites that sleep six with a kitchenette, while Aventura has one pool with a splash zone, rooms for four and only 11 suites. Aventura suits couples and families of four who want a quiet, modern room and a rooftop bar.

Which is cheaper: Cabana Bay, Aventura or Endless Summer?

Usually Endless Summer: Universal’s hotel overview marks it “$” against “$$” for both Cabana Bay and Aventura, and calls Surfside the lowest-priced on-site hotel. Rates vary by season, availability and how far ahead you book. Parking is $26 plus tax at the value hotels and $30 at Aventura, and Endless Summer’s extra-adult charge is $15 against $20 at the other two.

Can you walk to Universal Studios from Cabana Bay, Aventura or Endless Summer?

From Cabana Bay and Aventura, yes: paths of about 1 to 1.1 miles reach CityWalk in roughly 20 to 25 minutes, and the gates are a few minutes beyond. Endless Summer has no path, so its guests take the free bus, which Universal’s pages put at every 15 or every 30 minutes. None of the three can walk to Epic Universe.

Do Cabana Bay, Aventura and Endless Summer include Express Pass?

No. Free Universal Express Unlimited comes only with Loews Portofino Bay, Hard Rock Hotel and Loews Royal Pacific, and only at Universal Studios Florida and Islands of Adventure. Guests at these three hotels get Early Park Admission, room charging and merchandise delivery instead, and can buy Express separately, with prices that change by date.

Can Endless Summer guests use the Cabana Bay pools?

Not according to Universal’s hotel FAQ, which allows pool hopping only among Portofino Bay, Hard Rock, Royal Pacific, Sapphire Falls, Cabana Bay and Aventura and reserves the Endless Summer pools for Dockside and Surfside guests. Endless Summer is left out of that group. Loews’ pages word the rule differently, barring all Value Inns and Suites guests from Prime Value and Signature pools, so confirm at the front desk.

Which of the three is closest to Epic Universe?

Endless Summer, by road: about 3.3 miles from Dockside or Surfside to Epic Universe’s parking entrance, against about 4.6 miles from Cabana Bay and Aventura. All three use the same free bus to Epic, with rides Universal puts at 10 to 20 minutes, so the difference is small. Only Stella Nova and Helios Grand offer a walk or a direct entrance.

Bottom line

Cabana Bay is the best all-round pick for families who want pools, suites and the option to walk to the original parks. Aventura is the grown-up choice for couples and small families who value a modern room and a rooftop bar over slides. Endless Summer is the budget answer, with two-bedroom suites for six, if a daily bus ride suits you. Compare rates for Universal Cabana Bay Beach Resort on Booking.com and check the same dates at Aventura and Dockside before you decide.
