The most convenient hotels near Port Canaveral are a cluster of hotels on and just off Astronaut Boulevard (SR A1A) in Cape Canaveral, roughly a mile from the cruise terminals on the south side of the harbor. Several sell cruise parking for the length of your sailing, and some run a paid shuttle to the ship, so you skip the early drive from Orlando.

This guide is about cruise logistics. For each hotel we checked what you pay to leave your car while you sail, whether there is a port shuttle and what it costs, and whether breakfast is included. We also explain how official port parking works, so you can compare a hotel package with driving to the ship.

Quick answer: For the most complete cruise package, book the Radisson Resort at the Port: its cruise parking rate includes the port shuttle for up to four people, and it has a waterfall pool. On a budget, the Country Inn & Suites by Radisson, Port Canaveral, FL includes a free hot breakfast and sells a low-cost cruise shuttle. Families who want a kitchen should look at the Residence Inn Cape Canaveral Cocoa Beach or the Homewood Suites by Hilton Cape Canaveral-Cocoa Beach. If you want the beach the night before you sail, choose the Courtyard by Marriott Cocoa Beach Cape Canaveral and its Park & Cruise packages.

Port Canaveral terminals and official parking

Port Canaveral describes itself as the homeport for seven cruise lines: Royal Caribbean, Carnival, Disney Cruise Line, MSC, Princess, Celebrity and Norwegian. The terminals sit on both sides of the harbor in Cape Canaveral, and your cruise line assigns yours. The port notes that ship schedules and assigned terminals can change, so check your boarding documents a few days before you sail.

Terminal groupTerminalsExit from SR 528Side of harbor
A terminals5, 6, 8 and 10Exit 54ANorth side
B terminals1, 2 and 3Exit 54BSouth side

Official port parking is in garages and surface lots next to each terminal, so you park and walk. At the time of writing, the port charged $20 a day plus tax for cars and RVs. The charge counts both the day you arrive and the day you return. You pay when you enter, and the lots are cashless (American Express, Visa, Mastercard and Discover). The port does not take parking reservations. Embarkation parking does not open before 10 a.m., and returning passengers can reach their cars at any time. The fee is waived for some vehicles carrying people with disabilities, under conditions the port lists.

The hotels below are all on the south side, close to Terminals 1 to 3. By our road check, the Astronaut Boulevard hotels are about 1 to 2 miles from those terminals and roughly 2.5 to 3 miles from the north-side terminals, a 5- to 10-minute drive without traffic.

How we chose these hotels

We started with the hotels the Space Coast’s official tourism office promotes to cruisers and kept those with verified cruise services: parking while you sail, a port shuttle or a park-and-cruise package. We also looked at road distance to the terminals, measured with OSRM routing, and at what is included, such as breakfast, kitchens and pools. Fees come from the hotels’ official pages and the county tourism listings; where a brand site blocked us, we used an archived copy and say “at last check.” We did not stay at these hotels and do not use review scores.

How to choose between hotels near Port Canaveral

Compare hotel parking with port parking

The port charges per day, counting your embarkation and return days. Several hotels here charge less, and some include a shuttle. Others charge more, like Home2 Suites at $25 a night at our last check. Ask whether tax is extra and whether the shuttle is included or charged per person; for a family of four, shuttle fees can cancel out the savings.

Check shuttle times against your boarding window

Hotel shuttles run on fixed schedules, like the Residence Inn’s 9:30, 11:30 and 12:30 departures. Make sure one fits your assigned boarding time, and note that some bookings are non-refundable. If timing is tight, drive the few minutes yourself and park at the terminal, which opens for embarkation at 10 a.m.

Think about the return day

With hotel cruise parking, you ride the shuttle back to the hotel for your car before heading to Orlando. If you have an early flight home, terminal parking or a direct transfer is faster.

Cape Canaveral, Cocoa Beach or Orlando?

Cape Canaveral is closest to the ship. Cocoa Beach, a few miles south, adds the ocean and the pier; our guide to the best hotels in Cocoa Beach covers it. If you are combining a cruise with Walt Disney World or Universal, you may prefer to stay in Orlando and transfer on sailing day. Our guide to getting from Orlando to Port Canaveral compares cruise line transfers, shared shuttles and driving. If you land late, one of the Orlando airport hotels can be a better first night. For the theme parks, start with our overview of where to stay in Orlando.

Book your Cape Canaveral hotel once your cruise is confirmed, because hotel cruise parking is limited and, at some hotels, offered only while spaces last. If you sail in the stormy months, read our Orlando hurricane season guide and choose a refundable rate. Rates vary by season, availability and how far ahead you book.

Frequently asked questions

How much is parking at Port Canaveral?

At the time of writing, Port Canaveral charged $20 a day plus tax for cars and RVs. The count includes the day you arrive and the day you return. You pay on entry with a major credit card (no cash), and the port does not take reservations. Parking for embarking passengers opens at 10 a.m. The port says rates can change without notice, so check its parking page before you go.

Which hotels near Port Canaveral have a cruise shuttle?

Among our picks, the Radisson, Country Inn & Suites, Residence Inn, TownePlace Suites, Homewood Suites and Home2 Suites all published cruise shuttle prices at our last check, from $9 plus tax to $12 per person. The Radisson includes the shuttle for up to four people with its cruise parking, and the Courtyard Cocoa Beach includes one in its Park & Cruise packages. Always book the shuttle in advance.

Is it cheaper to park at a hotel than at the port?

Often, but not always. At our last check, several hotels in this guide charged $12 to $15 a night or day for cruise parking, below the port’s $20 a day plus tax. Home2 Suites charged $25 a night plus tax, which is more. Add any per-person shuttle fees and taxes, and remember that the port charges for both the arrival and return days, before you compare.

How far is Port Canaveral from Orlando International Airport?

The port puts Orlando International Airport about 45 minutes away via SR 528 East, a toll road. Our road check came to about 46 to 48 miles, or roughly an hour without traffic, so allow more time on busy sailing days. You can read about paying tolls in our Orlando toll roads guide. The Disney and Universal areas are about 55 to 70 miles from the terminals by road.

Should I stay in Orlando or near the port before a cruise?

If your flight lands the day before, a night near the port takes the stress out of embarkation day: you are minutes from the terminal and can park with the hotel. If you are visiting the theme parks first, staying in Orlando and transferring on sailing day also works, but leave plenty of time for the drive. Many cruisers split it, with parks first and a final night in Cape Canaveral.

Bottom line

For a smooth embarkation, stay on Astronaut Boulevard in Cape Canaveral, about a mile from the south-side terminals. The Radisson Resort at the Port is the easiest all-in-one choice, Country Inn & Suites is the best value with free breakfast and a cheap shuttle, and the Residence Inn and Homewood Suites suit families who want a kitchen. Compare each hotel’s parking and shuttle costs with the port’s $20 a day plus tax, and for a beach day before sailing, see our guide to beaches near Orlando.
