The best hotels near Kennedy Space Center are in two places: Titusville, on the mainland directly across the Indian River from the launch pads, and the Cape Canaveral and Cocoa Beach strip, about 30 minutes south of the visitor complex. Titusville gets you closest to the gates and to the river views that make launch nights special. Cape Canaveral and Cocoa Beach add the ocean, more restaurants and the cruise port.

There are no hotels at the Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex itself, which sits on Merritt Island about 50 miles east of Orlando. You can see it as a long day trip from a Disney or Universal hotel, but a night on the Space Coast lets you arrive when the gates open, stay for a launch and skip a two-hour round-trip drive at the end of a tiring day.

This guide compares seven hotels in Titusville, Cape Canaveral and Cocoa Beach, with parking, breakfast, pets and launch-viewing details taken from each hotel’s official pages, plus practical advice on when an overnight stay is worth it.

Quick answer: For launch views and the shortest drive, book the Courtyard by Marriott Titusville Kennedy Space Center, about 8 miles by road from the visitor complex with a rooftop bar facing the launch pads. Its neighbor, Hyatt Place Titusville / Kennedy Space Center, adds included breakfast and an in-hotel launch viewing room. On a budget, the Hampton Inn Titusville/I-95 Kennedy Space Center has free breakfast and parking right off I-95. If you also want the beach or a cruise, stay at the Residence Inn Cape Canaveral Cocoa Beach (suites with kitchens) or the Hilton Cocoa Beach Oceanfront.

How we chose these hotels

We started with drive distance to the Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex on Space Commerce Way, measured with public mapping data, and kept hotels within roughly 30 minutes of the entrance. We then checked each hotel’s official website (Marriott, Hyatt, Hilton, Radisson and the hotels’ own pages, using archived copies where brand sites block automated access) for parking charges, breakfast, pools, pet rules and anything the hotel itself says about rocket launch viewing. We also used Brevard County’s Space Coast tourism listings.

We left out older motels with little verifiable information, did not stay at these hotels and do not publish scores or room prices. Rates vary by season, availability and how far ahead you book, and they jump sharply around high-profile launches.

1. Courtyard by Marriott Titusville Kennedy Space Center

King room with river view window at Courtyard by Marriott Titusville Kennedy Space Center

This is the hotel most people mean when they ask where to stay for a rocket launch. It sits on the Titusville riverfront at 6245 Riverfront Center Boulevard, and its rooftop restaurant and bar, The Space Bar, looks across the Indian River toward Merritt Island and Kennedy Space Center. The hotel describes the rooftop as offering “the best views of the rocket launch pads” and a viewing area for launches. Rooms and suites are space-themed.

The visitor complex is about 8 miles by road, roughly 17 minutes in normal traffic. The ground level has an outdoor heated pool with a hot tub, a splash pad, cabana seating and a pool bar.

  • Why stay: The closest full-service option to the visitor complex we found, with a rooftop bar facing the launch area and a resort-style pool.
  • Getting there / to the parks: No hotel shuttle. Orlando International Airport is about 37 miles away, according to the hotel, and Walt Disney World is roughly an hour and a quarter to an hour and a half by car.
  • Good to know: Self-parking is complimentary and breakfast at The Bistro (with Starbucks coffee) is available for a fee, per Marriott’s pages at our last check. Pets are not allowed, and the minimum check-in age is listed as 21.

Best for: Launch watchers and couples who want rooftop views, plus families who want the shortest drive to the visitor complex.

2. Hyatt Place Titusville / Kennedy Space Center

Outdoor pool with loungers and umbrellas beside Hyatt Place Titusville Kennedy Space Center building

Next door to the Courtyard, at 6299 Riverfront Center Boulevard, the Hyatt Place gives you the same riverfront location with a more practical, family-friendly setup. The hotel has 110 rooms, including eight suites, and the Space Coast tourism office lists the one-bedroom suites at 550 square feet. The same listing describes a Cozy Corner with a sofa-sleeper in the rooms, which helps when you are sharing with kids.

The launch perk here is indoors. Hyatt’s official page, at our last check (April 2025), invited guests to “watch the next launch without leaving the hotel from our Rocket Launch Viewing Room” and mentioned rooms with views of launches. It is a useful backup in heat or rain, but ask whether it will be open for your launch.

  • Why stay: Riverfront location, an in-hotel launch viewing room and breakfast listed as included.
  • Getting there / to the parks: Almost the same drive as the Courtyard: about 8 to 9 miles, or around 18 minutes, to the visitor complex. You need a car for everything else.
  • Good to know: Hyatt lists free parking, an outdoor pool and a fitness center. Up to two dogs are allowed for $75 per stay for one to six nights (plus a $100 cleaning fee for seven to 30 nights), with a 50-pound limit per dog, at our last check (April 2025). Hyatt describes a free breakfast with eggs and waffles, but the county listing still mentions pre-packaged items, so ask what is served.

Best for: Families who want space, breakfast and launch viewing without paying for rooftop drinks.

3. Hampton Inn Titusville/I-95 Kennedy Space Center

The Hampton Inn is the simple, good-value choice. It sits at 4760 Helen Hauser Boulevard, right off I-95 at exit 215, which makes it easy to reach from Orlando and easy to leave early in the morning. Hilton says the hotel is 12 miles from Kennedy Space Center and 24 miles from the cruise terminals at Port Canaveral.

The essentials are covered: free hot breakfast, free Wi-Fi, free self-parking and an outdoor pool.

  • Why stay: Free breakfast and parking keep the total cost of a short Space Coast stay low.
  • Getting there / to the parks: About 13 miles, or 25 minutes, to the visitor complex by our mapping data. Driving back to Orlando via I-95 and SR 528 is straightforward.
  • Good to know: Pets are allowed (dogs and cats only, up to two): $75 per stay for one to four nights, $125 for five or more, plus a $250 refundable deposit, per Hilton’s page at our last check. Valet parking is not offered.

Best for: Budget travelers, road trippers and anyone arriving late from Orlando.

4. Hyatt Place Cape Canaveral

Outdoor pool with lounge chairs and umbrellas at Hyatt Place Cape Canaveral

If you want to combine Kennedy Space Center with the beach or a cruise, Cape Canaveral is the natural base, and the Hyatt Place at 9119 Astronaut Boulevard is the one with a rooftop built for launch watching. Its rooftop bar, Altitude360 Sky Bar and Observation Deck, invites you to “catch a rocket launch live from Kennedy Space Center” from the roof.

Inside, Hyatt lists The Placery restaurant at the lobby bar, a 24-hour grab-and-go market, a fitness center and an outdoor pool, and pets are welcome ($75 per stay for one to six nights at our last check). The visitor complex is about 16 miles north, roughly half an hour by car.

  • Why stay: Rooftop launch views combined with easy access to Cocoa Beach and Port Canaveral.
  • Getting there / to the parks: About 30 minutes to the visitor complex via SR 528 and SR 3. Orlando is about an hour west on SR 528 in normal traffic.
  • Good to know: At the time of writing, Altitude360 was open Wednesday and Thursday 4 pm to 10 pm and Friday to Sunday 4 pm to 11 pm, closed Monday and Tuesday, and its hours “may vary depending on weather, launch schedules or private events.” At our last check (July 2025), breakfast was free only for World of Hyatt elite members on eligible rates, and Hyatt listed overnight and cruise parking but not free parking, so ask the price when you book.

Best for: Couples and cruise travelers who want a launch-view rooftop near the beach.

5. Radisson Resort at the Port

Pool with rock waterfall and lounge chairs at Radisson Resort at the Port in Cape Canaveral

The Radisson is the most “resort” of the Cape Canaveral options. The hotel promotes its waterfall pool and hot tub, plus a kiddie pool in the courtyard. The county tourism listing mentions grounds with fishponds and waterfalls and puts the hotel at 284 rooms and suites. Every room type on the official site includes a refrigerator and coffee maker, and there are two-queen suites for families who need more space.

It is built around cruise passengers, with park-and-cruise packages that include parking and a round-trip shuttle to Port Canaveral, which suits a Kennedy Space Center day before or after a cruise.

  • Why stay: The waterfall pool keeps kids happy, and cruise packages bundle parking and port transfers.
  • Getting there / to the parks: About 16 miles, or roughly 30 minutes, to the visitor complex. For cruise transfers, the hotel names Cocoa Beach Express as its exclusive transportation partner.
  • Good to know: At the time of writing, the hotel’s transportation page listed overnight (non-cruise) parking at $15 a night and non-package cruise parking at $12.95 a night with a shuttle for four. The county listing says $12 for self-parking, so confirm at check-in. Pets are $35 per pet, per stay, with a limit of two. On-site dining includes Flamingo’s Restaurant, Flamingo’s Lounge Bar (live music in the evenings, per the county listing) and a poolside Tiki Bar.

Best for: Families with young kids and cruise passengers adding a Kennedy Space Center day.

6. Residence Inn by Marriott Cape Canaveral Cocoa Beach

Outdoor pool and palm trees at Residence Inn by Marriott Cape Canaveral Cocoa Beach

For families staying more than one night, the Residence Inn at 8959 Astronaut Boulevard is the most practical choice in Cape Canaveral. Every suite has a full kitchen and separate living and sleeping areas, and Marriott lists a free full hot breakfast every morning. The heated outdoor pool, whirlpool, fire pit and grills give you an easy evening without driving to a restaurant.

The location works for three trips at once: the cruise terminals are less than a mile away, according to the county tourism listing, Cocoa Beach is a short drive south, and the visitor complex is about 30 minutes north. If you like having a kitchen, our guide to Orlando hotels with kitchens covers similar suites near the theme parks.

  • Why stay: Full kitchens, free hot breakfast and room to spread out.
  • Getting there / to the parks: About 16 miles to the visitor complex. The hotel runs a paid cruise shuttle ($12 per person each way at our last check, at set morning times, and bookings are final).
  • Good to know: On-site parking was listed at $10 a day at our last check (March 2026). Pets are welcome (up to two) for a $100 non-refundable fee per stay. Orlando International Airport is about 45 miles away, according to Marriott.

Best for: Families, longer stays and anyone pairing a cruise with Kennedy Space Center.

7. Hilton Cocoa Beach Oceanfront

Aerial view of Hilton Cocoa Beach Oceanfront beside the beach and Atlantic Ocean

If the beach matters as much as the rockets, the Hilton at 1550 North Atlantic Avenue puts you directly on the sand in Cocoa Beach. The hotel has a 10,000-square-foot oceanfront pool deck with a pool bar, direct beach access, and activities such as bike rides, surfing lessons, beach volleyball and chair rentals. Hilton says it is 10 minutes from Port Canaveral and within 30 minutes of Kennedy Space Center; by our mapping data, plan on 30 to 40 minutes to the visitor complex.

Dining is on site: a breakfast buffet at Salt Restaurant, Longboards Tiki Beach Grille and Castaways Beach Bar by the pool and beach, and WAVES Craft Bar and Kitchen for dinner. For more oceanfront options, see our full guide to the best hotels in Cocoa Beach.

  • Why stay: True oceanfront rooms and a big pool deck, with Kennedy Space Center still an easy morning drive.
  • Getting there / to the parks: About 21 miles to the visitor complex. There is no airport shuttle.
  • Good to know: Self-parking was $25 a day and valet $30 at our last check (January 2026), and in-room Wi-Fi was listed at $9.95 (standard Wi-Fi is free for Hilton Honors members). Breakfast is extra and pets are not allowed. Hilton’s info page showed no resort charge, but check the booking screen for extra nightly fees.

Best for: Beach-first trips that include one day at Kennedy Space Center.

How to choose where to stay near Kennedy Space Center

Titusville vs Cape Canaveral and Cocoa Beach

Choose Titusville if Kennedy Space Center or a launch is the main reason for the trip. The riverfront hotels are the closest to the visitor complex, the drive avoids beach traffic, and the town looks straight across the Indian River at the launch area. The trade-off is that Titusville is quieter, with fewer restaurants and no ocean beach in town.

Choose Cape Canaveral or Cocoa Beach if you also want beach time, a cruise or more evening options. You add roughly 10 to 20 minutes each way to the visitor complex, but you can spend a second day on the sand. Our guide to beaches near Orlando compares Cocoa Beach with the other coastal day trips.

Day trip from Orlando or overnight stay?

From Orlando International Airport or downtown Orlando, the drive is about 46 miles via SR 528 or SR 50, a little over an hour without traffic, by our mapping data. From the Disney area, budget closer to an hour and a half each way. There is no public transportation to the visitor complex, although the official site notes that Gray Line Orlando offers transportation.

OptionWorks well ifWatch out for
Day trip from OrlandoYou only want the exhibits and bus tourTwo to three hours of driving in one day
One night in TitusvilleYou want opening time, a launch or sunset river viewsFew dinner options beyond the hotels
Two nights on the beachYou want Kennedy Space Center plus a beach dayHigher parking fees at oceanfront hotels
Night before a cruiseYou sail from Port CanaveralBook cruise parking with the hotel early

At the time of writing, the visitor complex opens at 9 am, with closing times that vary by season between 5 pm and 7 pm, and it is closed on Thanksgiving and Christmas Day. Entry ends one hour before closing, and the last bus tour runs two and a half hours before closing, so arriving early pays off. If you are building a longer vacation, our Orlando itinerary shows where a Space Coast day fits around the theme parks.

Booking around a rocket launch

  • Book a flexible rate. Launches slip and are often scrubbed at the last minute.
  • Do not count on a view from your room. Only book for the view if the hotel itself advertises it, and know that the direction of the pad, the time of day and the weather all affect what you see.
  • Expect crowds. High-profile launches fill hotels and slow traffic on the causeways and on SR 528 and SR 405.
  • Consider official viewing. The visitor complex sells launch viewing for some missions, with live commentary and bleacher seating at locations such as the Banana Creek viewing area at the Apollo/Saturn V Center and The Gantry at LC-39. Read its scrub policy before you buy.
  • Use public spots as a backup. The Space Coast tourism office lists Space View Park in Titusville, directly across the river from the launch pads, as a launch viewing venue, and Port Canaveral promotes rocket launch views from its Jetty Park.

Flying in for a Space Coast trip? Orlando International is the main airport, and our list of Orlando airport hotels helps if you land late. Orlando Sanford is about as far from Titusville (33 versus 37 miles from the Courtyard, per Marriott); see our guide to hotels near Orlando Sanford Airport. Frequently asked questions

What is the closest hotel to Kennedy Space Center?

There are no hotels inside the visitor complex. Among the hotels we checked, the Courtyard by Marriott Titusville Kennedy Space Center and the Hyatt Place Titusville / Kennedy Space Center next door are the closest, about 8 miles by road, or roughly 17 minutes in normal traffic. The Hampton Inn Titusville is about 13 miles away. Hotels in Cape Canaveral are around 16 miles, or 30 minutes, from the entrance.

Can you watch rocket launches from hotels near Kennedy Space Center?

Some hotels promote it. The Courtyard Titusville markets its rooftop Space Bar as a launch viewing spot, the Hyatt Place Titusville has promoted an in-hotel Rocket Launch Viewing Room, and the Hyatt Place Cape Canaveral has the Altitude360 rooftop bar. What you actually see depends on the launch pad, the time and the weather, and launches are often delayed, so book a flexible rate.

Is it better to stay in Titusville or Cocoa Beach for Kennedy Space Center?

Titusville is better if the space center or a launch is your main goal: it is closer to the visitor complex and faces the launch area across the Indian River. Cocoa Beach and Cape Canaveral are better if you also want ocean beaches, more restaurants or a cruise from Port Canaveral. The extra drive to Kennedy Space Center from the beach is usually about 10 to 20 minutes each way.

Can you visit Kennedy Space Center as a day trip from Orlando?

Yes. The visitor complex is about 50 miles east of Orlando via SR 528, according to Kennedy Space Center, or a little over an hour by car without traffic. From the Disney area, plan on about an hour and a half each way. Leave early, because entry ends one hour before closing and the last bus tour departs two and a half hours before closing. Stay overnight if you want a launch or a beach day.

How much does it cost to visit and park at Kennedy Space Center?

At the time of writing, one-day admission was listed at $77 for adults (12 and older) and $67 for children ages 3 to 11, with a two-day ticket at $91 and $81. Parking is not included: cars were $15, motorcycles $5 and RVs $20. Add-ons such as the Astronaut Training Experience cost extra. Prices and online promotions change often, so confirm them on the official site before you go.

Bottom line

For most visitors, the best hotels near Kennedy Space Center are the two Titusville riverfront hotels: the Courtyard if you want a rooftop launch view and a resort-style pool, or the Hyatt Place if breakfast and an in-hotel launch viewing room matter more. Pick the Hampton Inn to keep costs down, or move to Cape Canaveral and Cocoa Beach if the trip also includes the beach or a cruise. Whatever you choose, book a flexible rate and check the launch schedule before you commit to dates.
