Most of the best hotels in Cocoa Beach sit right on the sand along North Atlantic Avenue (State Road A1A), within a short drive of the Cocoa Beach Pier, Ron Jon Surf Shop, the cruise terminals at Port Canaveral and Kennedy Space Center. Cocoa Beach works well for a beach add-on after Disney or Universal, a pre-cruise night or a full Space Coast vacation.

The hotels are spread over a few miles of A1A, and what you pay on top of the room varies a lot. Some include breakfast and charge little for parking. Others add a nightly resort fee or $20 to $30 a day to park. This guide compares nine hotels, with parking costs, breakfast, pools and pet rules taken from each hotel’s official pages, so you can pick the right one for your trip.

Quick answer: For a full-service oceanfront stay, book the Hilton Cocoa Beach Oceanfront. Families who want space should look at the Westgate Cocoa Beach Resort (two-bedroom suites, a lazy river and a free pier shuttle) or The Resort on Cocoa Beach (two-bedroom condos, no resort fee, free parking). For ocean views from every room, choose the Hilton Garden Inn Cocoa Beach Oceanfront. If you want free breakfast on the beach, go with the Hampton Inn Cocoa Beach. For a walk to the pier, stay at the Best Western Cocoa Beach – Port Canaveral.

How we chose these Cocoa Beach hotels

We picked hotels in Cocoa Beach itself, most of them directly on the beach, plus two value picks a short walk or drive from the sand. We judged them on beach access, verified amenities, the real cost once fees and parking are added, and access to the pier, Port Canaveral and Kennedy Space Center. Facts come from each hotel’s official website. For Hilton, Marriott and Best Western, we used archived copies of their official pages from January to June 2026, marked “at last check.” We did not stay at these hotels, and we do not publish scores or fixed prices.

1. Hilton Cocoa Beach Oceanfront

Aerial view of Hilton Cocoa Beach Oceanfront, its parking lot and the Atlantic beach behind

The Hilton is the most complete full-service hotel here. It sits at 1550 North Atlantic Avenue, toward the south end of the hotel strip, with direct beach access and what Hilton describes as a 10,000-square-foot pool deck with a pool bar. Hilton says the hotel is about 10 minutes from Port Canaveral and within 30 minutes of Kennedy Space Center, and lists the Cocoa Beach Pier at about 3 miles (closer to 2.5 miles by road).

Dining is the main reason to pick it over a limited-service hotel. There is a breakfast buffet at Salt Restaurant, casual food by the pool and beach at Longboards Tiki Beach Grille and Castaways Beach Bar, dinner at WAVES Craft Bar & Kitchen, and grab-and-go food at Mercato.

  • Why stay: Oceanfront rooms, several restaurants and bars on site, room service and a large pool deck right above the beach.
  • Getting there: Orlando International Airport is about 52 miles away by road. Hilton’s page says 60 miles, but our route check puts it in line with the other hotels here. Melbourne’s airport is about 25 miles away. It does not offer an airport shuttle, so plan on driving or booking a private transfer.
  • Good to know: At last check, self-parking was $25 a day and valet $30, and in-and-out privileges were listed as not available. Breakfast is available for a fee, pets are not allowed, and check-in is at 4 p.m.

Best for: Couples and families who want restaurants, a pool bar and the beach without leaving the property.

2. Westgate Cocoa Beach Resort

Lazy river with water arches and a carved tiki totem at Westgate Cocoa Beach Resort

Formerly Wakulla Suites, the Westgate Cocoa Beach Resort at 3550 North Atlantic Avenue is built for families. Accommodations are two-bedroom suites and larger villas. Westgate lists its Luxury Two-Bedroom Suite at 812 square feet, sleeping up to six with a king bed, two twin beds and a queen sleeper sofa, plus a fully equipped kitchen and two bathrooms.

The big draw is the Wakulla Water Play Experience: a 335-foot lazy river (3 feet at its deepest, with tubes provided), a children’s splash pad and a large pool. Westgate also runs a free shuttle to the Westgate Cocoa Beach Pier, so you can eat at the pier without moving the car.

  • Why stay: Suite space with a kitchen, direct beach access, a lazy river and a free pier shuttle.
  • Getting to the pier and port: The pier shuttle ran Sunday to Thursday from noon to 10 p.m. (closed Wednesdays) and Friday to Saturday from noon to 8 p.m., with a daily break from 3:15 to 4:15 p.m., at the time of writing. Westgate says it does not offer transportation to Port Canaveral.
  • Good to know: A nightly resort fee of $19.99 plus tax covers Wi-Fi, the water play area, one self-parking permit per two-bedroom villa, the pier shuttle and boarding pass printing. Up to two dogs (60 lb combined) are allowed for a $150 fee plus tax per reservation, with breed restrictions.

Best for: Families of five or six who want a kitchen, a lazy river and an easy evening at the pier.

The Resort on Cocoa Beach is a timeshare-style condo resort at 1600 North Atlantic Avenue, just up the road from the Hilton, directly on the Atlantic. All units are two-bedroom condos of about 1,050 square feet, with a king bed, two twin beds and a queen sofa sleeper, a full-size kitchen, a washer and dryer, and three TVs. Maximum occupancy is six, including children of any age.

The amenity list is long for Cocoa Beach: a heated outdoor pool, sauna, fitness center, restaurant and lounge, tiki bar, tennis and basketball courts, a game room, a movie theater, an indoor play center, BBQ areas and pickleball.

  • Why stay: The most space per dollar of the oceanfront options, with laundry in the unit and indoor activities for rainy days.
  • Getting there: The resort does not provide airport or cruise shuttles, so you will need a car or a transfer.
  • Good to know: The resort states there are no resort fees and no charge for Wi-Fi or parking, with a limit of two vehicles per condo. There is no breakfast on site, pets are not allowed, you must be 21 to register, and check-out is at 10 a.m. Housekeeping is a tidy service only for stays longer than seven days.

How to choose a hotel in Cocoa Beach

Pick your end of town

Cocoa Beach hotels line up along A1A. The southern hotels (La Quinta, Hilton, The Resort on Cocoa Beach and Hilton Garden Inn) are closer to downtown Cocoa Beach, but farthest from the pier and the port. The Courtyard, Hampton Inn, Westgate and Four Points sit in the middle stretch. The Best Western, at the north end, is across from the pier and about 3 miles from Port Canaveral.

Add up the real cost

Room rates are only part of the cost. Parking runs from free (The Resort on Cocoa Beach, La Quinta) to $25 a day or more (Hilton). Westgate adds a nightly resort fee but includes one car and the pier shuttle. Free breakfast at the Hampton Inn, Best Western and La Quinta can save a family a lot over a long weekend. If fees are a deciding factor, our guide to Orlando hotels with no resort fees explains how to compare them.

Cruising from Port Canaveral

Port Canaveral charged $20 a day plus tax for parking at the cruise terminals at the time of writing, according to the port. Courtyard ($15 a day during your cruise, with Park & Cruise packages that include a shuttle) and the Hampton Inn ($15 a night plus tax) can be cheaper if you stay the night before.

Space Coast and theme park plans

The hotels here list Kennedy Space Center at 25 to 30 minutes, but the visitor complex is about 18 to 21 miles away by road, so allow 35 to 40 minutes without traffic. If launches or the visitor complex are your main focus, also read our guide to hotels near Kennedy Space Center. If you are splitting time with the parks, start with our guide to the best areas to stay in Orlando and the Orlando itinerary, then add two or three beach nights at the end.

Traveling with a dog or a big family

Best Western, Hilton Garden Inn, Hampton Inn, Westgate, Four Points and La Quinta accept pets, with very different weight limits and fees. The Hilton, Courtyard and The Resort on Cocoa Beach do not. For more pet options back in Orlando, see our list of pet-friendly hotels in Orlando. Families of five or six fit best in the two-bedroom units at Westgate and The Resort on Cocoa Beach. If you want the same setup inland, compare Orlando hotels with kitchens.

Frequently asked questions

How far is Cocoa Beach from Orlando?

Cocoa Beach is about 50 miles, or roughly an hour by car, from Orlando International Airport via SR 528 (the Beachline), a toll road that runs east to Port Canaveral and the coast. Our route check put the hotels here 49 to 52 miles from MCO. Hilton Garden Inn says the Orlando theme parks are just over an hour away. Traffic can add time, especially on weekends. For other beach options, see our guide to beaches near Orlando.

Which Cocoa Beach hotels are closest to the pier?

The Best Western Cocoa Beach – Port Canaveral is the closest of our picks. It lists the Cocoa Beach Pier at 401 Meade Avenue as across the street. Westgate Cocoa Beach Resort is farther south but runs a free shuttle to the pier, included in its resort fee. The Hilton Cocoa Beach Oceanfront lists the pier at about 3 miles away (about 2.5 miles by road), so plan to drive from there.

Which hotels in Cocoa Beach include free breakfast?

Among our picks, the Hampton Inn Cocoa Beach (hot breakfast), the Best Western Cocoa Beach – Port Canaveral and the La Quinta Inn Cocoa Beach-Port Canaveral include breakfast, at the time of writing. The Hilton, Hilton Garden Inn, Courtyard and Four Points have on-site restaurants, but breakfast costs extra unless your rate includes it. Check what your rate includes when you book.

Can you see rocket launches from Cocoa Beach hotels?

Often, yes, from the beach. Courtyard by Marriott says guests can watch and feel the rumble of a launch from its beach, and Westgate points guests to the pier to watch SpaceX launches. Visibility depends on the launch pad, time and weather, and launches are often rescheduled. Check the launch schedule close to your dates, and have a backup plan for the day.

Is Cocoa Beach a good place to stay before a cruise?

Yes. Most hotels here are about 3 to 6 miles from Port Canaveral, per their own pages. Courtyard offers Park & Cruise packages that include shuttle service and charges $15 a day to park while you cruise, and the Hampton Inn lists cruise parking at $15 a night plus tax. Port Canaveral’s own terminal parking was $20 a day plus tax at the time of writing. Confirm package details and shuttle times with the hotel.

Do Cocoa Beach hotels charge resort fees?

Most of the hotels on this list do not list a resort fee, but many charge for parking. Westgate Cocoa Beach Resort is the exception, with a nightly resort fee of $19.99 plus tax that covers Wi-Fi, the water play area, one parking permit and the pier shuttle. The Resort on Cocoa Beach states it has no resort fees and charges nothing for Wi-Fi or parking.

Bottom line

For most travelers, the best hotels in Cocoa Beach come down to three choices: the Hilton Cocoa Beach Oceanfront for full-service comfort, the Hilton Garden Inn for an ocean-view balcony at a mid-range price, or the Hampton Inn for free breakfast on the beach. Families should compare the two-bedroom suites at Westgate and The Resort on Cocoa Beach, and cruisers should look at the Courtyard’s Park & Cruise packages. Whichever you choose, add parking and fees to the room rate before you compare.
