Holidays at Universal Orlando runs from November 14, 2026, to January 3, 2027, and Universal includes it with a regular theme park ticket or an annual or seasonal pass, although blockout dates and restrictions apply. The celebration covers three parks this year: Universal Studios Florida, Islands of Adventure and Epic Universe.
The main events are Universal’s Holiday Parade featuring Macy’s, the Grinchmas Who-liday Spectacular, Christmas in The Wizarding World of Harry Potter in all three Harry Potter areas, and the first Snoggletog in How to Train Your Dragon – Isle of Berk. Universal’s own hotels add buffets, tree lightings and New Year’s Eve parties.

Dates, park hours and what your ticket covers
Universal’s event page says the holidays are “included with your theme park ticket or annual/seasonal pass,” with blockout dates and restrictions. The parade and Grinchmas calendars list shows on every day from November 14, 2026, through January 3, 2027. There is no separate party ticket, unlike Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party at Magic Kingdom.
Each park’s celebration needs admission to that park on that day. To see the parade and Grinchmas on the same day, you need a park-to-park ticket, which Universal also requires for the Hogwarts Express between Diagon Alley and Hogsmeade.
Universal’s hours calendar only ran to November 30 when we checked on October 26, 2026. For November 14 to 30 it showed:
- Universal Studios Florida: 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. or 8 p.m.
- Islands of Adventure: 9 a.m. to between 6 p.m. and 9 p.m.
- Epic Universe: 9 a.m. or 10 a.m. to between 6 p.m. and 9 p.m.
Early Park Admission for Universal hotel guests and other selected groups was listed at Islands of Adventure and Epic Universe through November 30, with no dates at Universal Studios Florida.
If you drive in, regular self-parking is $35 including tax. Universal’s parking page says self-parking is free after 6 p.m., except on Halloween Horror Nights event nights and on December 31. The free evening parking does not apply at Epic Universe.
Universal Studios Florida: the Macy’s parade and Diagon Alley
Universal’s Holiday Parade featuring Macy’s brings larger-than-life balloons, holiday floats, dancers and appearances by the Minions from Illumination’s Despicable Me and characters from DreamWorks Animation’s Shrek and Madagascar films. The 2026 calendar on the parade page lists one parade at 5:30 p.m. every day of the season.
Universal’s 2025 holiday guide on its Discover Universal blog says the route is roped off and fills up, and it recommends being in your spot 25 to 30 minutes early. The park closes at 7 p.m. or 8 p.m. on the November dates posted so far.
For the New York area, Universal’s 2026 winter guide mentions a large Christmas tree, views of 30 Rockefeller Center and Macy’s window facades. The park also has seasonal food booths in New York, an Earl the Squirrel meet and greet and the Holiday Tribute Store.
In Diagon Alley, Celestina Warbeck and the Banshees sing holiday songs such as “My Baby Gave Me a Hippogriff for Christmas,” according to Universal’s winter guide.
Islands of Adventure: Grinchmas and Christmas in Hogsmeade
For Grinchmas, Seuss Landing is decorated in the style of Who-ville. The Grinchmas Who-liday Spectacular is a live show with music recorded by Mannheim Steamroller. Universal’s 2026 calendar lists eight shows a day for the whole season: 10:15 a.m., 11:15 a.m., 12:15 p.m., 1:15 p.m., 3:30 p.m., 4:30 p.m., 5:30 p.m. and 6:30 p.m.
You can also meet the Grinch, mingle with the residents of Who-ville and walk through the Who-ville Tree Lot. In 2025, Universal ran a Grinch & Friends Character Breakfast at Circus McGurkus Cafe Stoo-pendous on select days. Its 2026 holiday pages did not list it when we checked, so look for it in the app before you plan around it.
Next door, Hogsmeade is dressed as a snow-capped village. The Frog Choir sings seasonal songs, and The Magic of Christmas at Hogwarts Castle projects light and music onto the castle at night. Universal’s 2025 holiday guide said the castle show runs every evening from dusk to park close.
On days when Islands of Adventure closes at 6 p.m., the window for the castle show is short, so pick a later-closing evening if it matters to you.
Epic Universe: Snoggletog, SUPER NINTENDO WORLD and Celestial Park
Universal’s Epic Universe holiday page lists four areas that take part:
- The Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Ministry of Magic: wizarding Paris is decorated for Christmas.
- How to Train Your Dragon – Isle of Berk: the first Snoggletog, with decorations, seasonal food and drinks, and new merchandise.
- SUPER NINTENDO WORLD: colorful decorations, characters and themed food.
- Celestial Park: lighted tree-lined walkways and a festive Cosmos Fountain Show.
You need an Epic Universe ticket for that day, and the free Express Unlimited at three Universal hotels does not work there. On November 20, regular hours at Epic Universe end at 8 p.m. The park then hosts Universal Nights, a separately ticketed after-hours event. Universal’s event page lists it from 9 p.m. to midnight, with entry from 7 p.m. for event ticket holders.
What costs extra
The parks’ holiday entertainment is included, but these add-ons are not. Prices are the ones Universal and its hotels published for 2026.

Buffet prices do not include tax or gratuity, and the party adds tax and ticketing fees. Children under 3 are free at all of them.
The Universal Holiday Tour is a guided daytime tour of about two and a half hours, in groups of up to 12. It includes a meet and greet with the Grinch, his dog Max and Santa, reserved Grinchmas seating and an optional reserved parade viewing area. You also need a same-day park-to-park ticket, and Universal requires 48 hours’ notice for a full refund.
For New Year’s Eve, Universal promises celebrations in its parks but had not posted details (“check back soon”). Universal Helios Grand Hotel’s New Year’s Eve Party at the Palace is for adults 21 and older, from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. at the rooftop Bar Helios, and Loews Portofino Bay Hotel’s New Year’s Eve Party on the Piazza showed tickets as “coming soon.” Our New Year’s Eve in Orlando guide compares the citywide options.
Holiday events at Universal’s hotels
Universal’s winter guide says all 11 Universal Orlando hotels are decorated for the season. Its hotel events page, linked from the official holiday site, lists these dates:
- Thanksgiving, November 26: holiday menus at five hotel restaurants, including breakfast and dinner buffets at Hard Rock’s The Kitchen, a Thanksgiving Day Parade viewing at Cabana Bay and two other lower-priced hotels, and themed bowling at Galaxy Bowl (reservations required).
- Tree lighting and Meet Santa: Cabana Bay on November 27, Helios Grand on November 28, and Portofino Bay on a date still marked “TBD.”
- Hanukkah, December 5 to 12: menorah lighting ceremonies in hotel lobbies. The hotel events page says all Universal Orlando hotels take part, while Universal’s main holiday hotel page says “some” hotels.
- Christmas, December 25: Christmas menus at five hotel restaurants, including the three buffets above, meal specials at the six other Universal hotels, and strolling carolers at Portofino Bay on select dates.
Universal’s holiday hotel page also advertises passholder room discounts and savings on stays of five nights or more. These are Universal’s own offers, so they apply only when you book directly with Universal, not through Booking.com.
Closures and weather to plan around
- Volcano Bay: closed for maintenance from October 26, 2026, with a planned reopening on or before April 1, 2027.
- Jurassic Park River Adventure: closed through December 16, 2026, so it should reopen on December 17.
- Universal Studios Florida: Po Live! has been closed since October 3, and Animal Actors On Location! closes permanently on November 3, 2026. Universal Orlando’s Horror Make-Up Show and Finnegan’s Bar & Grill are listed as closed until “Winter 2026.”
- Popeye & Bluto’s Bilge-Rat Barges: closed from January 4, 2027, the day after the season ends, to February 2.
- Cold snaps: Universal’s hotel FAQ says its hotel pools are heated, but slides close below 60°F, pools below 50°F and the whole pool deck below 45°F.

1. Hard Rock Hotel at Universal Orlando
Hard Rock is the shortest walk to the Universal Studios Florida gate in our measurements: about 0.4 mile, under 10 minutes, on Universal’s walking path. Islands of Adventure is about 0.6 mile, and free water taxis and shuttle buses run to the CityWalk hub.
Every guest registered in the room gets free Universal Express Unlimited at Universal Studios Florida and Islands of Adventure with valid park admission. It does not work at Epic Universe, and Universal excludes Hagrid’s Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure and Pteranodon Flyers. 2. Loews Portofino Bay Hotel
Universal’s hotel events page lists four holiday extras at Portofino Bay: strolling carolers on select dates, a tree lighting with Santa (date not set at the time of writing), the Christmas buffet at Trattoria del Porto and the New Year’s Eve Party on the Piazza.
After the parade, take the water taxi from CityWalk to the harbor piazza, or walk about 0.8 mile from the Universal Studios Florida gate on the garden path. 3. Universal Cabana Bay Beach Resort
Cabana Bay is the family pick at a lower price, and Universal’s own holiday photos show Christmas trees in its lobby. It hosts a tree lighting with Santa on November 27 and Thanksgiving events.
Family Suites are 430 square feet and sleep up to six with two queen beds and a pull-out sofa, plus a kitchenette with a mini refrigerator, microwave and sink. From the lobby it is about 1.05 miles, roughly 23 minutes, to CityWalk on foot, or you can take the free shuttle. Express is not included, but Early Park Admission is. 4. Universal Helios Grand Hotel, a Loews Hotel
If Snoggletog and the Celestial Park lights are your priority, Helios Grand is the only hotel with its own entrance into Epic Universe; you still need a valid Epic ticket. It lists a tree lighting with Santa on November 28, the Christmas buffet at Flora Taverna and the adults-only New Year’s Eve Party at the Palace.
For the parade and Grinchmas, take the free shuttle bus to the CityWalk hub. Universal lists only shuttle buses from Helios Grand to the original parks. Express is not included, and self-parking is $36 per night plus tax. Our Universal Helios Grand Hotel guide has the details.

5. DoubleTree by Hilton at the Entrance to Universal Orlando
This is the off-site hotel you can realistically walk from: about 0.9 mile, roughly 20 minutes, to the middle of CityWalk on public sidewalks, crossing Kirkman Road at signal-controlled crosswalks. Walking also saves Universal’s $35 daily parking fee.
It is not one of Universal’s own hotels, so there is no Early Park Admission or Express. Booking.com listed parking at US$34 a day and valet at US$38 a night plus tax, and says cribs and extra beds are not available; Hilton’s own page listed valet at $44 at last check (April 2026), so confirm.
