Disney Lightning Lane is Walt Disney World’s paid way to skip the regular line: you buy a pass in the My Disney Experience app, usually pick an arrival window, and use a shorter Lightning Lane entrance instead of the standby queue. There are three passes, Multi Pass, Single Pass and Premier Pass, and when you can buy them depends on where you sleep.

Guests of Disney Resort hotels and four other hotels can buy 7 days before check-in for their whole stay; everyone else, including guests of most non-Disney hotels with Early Theme Park Entry, buys 3 days ahead. Disney changes ride lists, rules and prices often, so treat everything here as accurate at the time of writing (October 2026) and confirm in the app before you buy.

Quick answer: Multi Pass lets you pre-book up to 3 experiences in one park and add more during the day. Single Pass covers one headliner that Multi Pass doesn’t include (up to 2 per day). Premier Pass gives one entry to every available Lightning Lane experience in one park, with no time windows. Prices vary by date and appear only in the app. Guests of Disney Resort hotels, the Walt Disney World Swan, Dolphin, Swan Reserve and Shades of Green can buy 7 days before check-in; everyone else buys 3 days ahead.

Disney Lightning Lane passes at a glance

According to Disney, Multi Pass replaced Disney Genie+ and Single Pass replaced individual Lightning Lane purchases; Premier Pass was added as a third option. Standby lines still operate, so no pass is required to ride.

PassWhat you getArrival windowsPer day
Multi PassUp to 3 advance picks in one park, then more one at a timeYesOne
Single PassOne headliner that is not in Multi PassYesUp to two
Premier PassOne entry to each available Lightning Lane in one parkNoOne, limited quantities

You can hold all three on the same day: one Multi Pass, one Premier Pass and up to two Single Passes, subject to availability. Disney’s rule is one Lightning Lane entry per attraction, per day, per pass.

How Lightning Lane Multi Pass works

When you buy Multi Pass for a park, the app asks you to choose up to three experiences and an arrival window for each before you pay.

  1. Pick your first three. At Magic Kingdom, EPCOT and Hollywood Studios you can take at most one pick from the top group; the other two, or all three, come from the second group. Animal Kingdom has a single list.
  2. Arrive in your window. Tap in at the Lightning Lane entrance with the MagicBand (Disney’s newest pages say Disney band), Disney MagicMobile pass, Key to the World Card or ticket card linked to your admission.
  3. Add more, one at a time. Once you redeem a selection, or its window has passed, you can book another, until regular park closing, subject to availability.
  4. Hop if your ticket allows. With the Park Hopper option or an Annual Pass, those later picks can be in another park.

Your whole party starts with the same three selections, but you can change them for some members afterward, subject to availability. Multi Pass also includes photo perks: digital downloads of select attraction photos and videos from your day, plus Disney PhotoPass Lenses.

Lightning Lane Single Pass: the five headliners

The most in-demand rides are not part of Multi Pass. To skip their lines you need a Single Pass (or Premier Pass): one attraction, an arrival window chosen in advance, and up to two per day, subject to availability.

ParkSingle Pass attractionOn Disney’s Early Entry list?
Magic KingdomSeven Dwarfs Mine TrainYes
Magic KingdomTRON Lightcycle / RunNo
EPCOTGuardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic RewindYes
Hollywood StudiosStar Wars: Rise of the ResistanceYes
Animal KingdomAvatar Flight of PassageYes

The last column matters if your hotel has Early Theme Park Entry. Disney’s Early Entry page lists four of these five rides among the attractions planned to operate during the 30-minute early period; TRON is not on that list. Riding one of them standby at the start of Early Entry can save you a Single Pass. Disney says the line-up can change without notice.

Lightning Lane Premier Pass

Premier Pass is the all-in option: one-time entry to each available Lightning Lane experience in one park for one day, including the Single Pass headliners, with no arrival windows. You walk to the Lightning Lane entrance whenever you want to ride, and the app keeps track of what you’ve used and what’s left.

  • It is sold in limited quantities, so it can sell out.
  • It is valid in one park only, even with a Park Hopper ticket.
  • It needs a separate transaction from Multi Pass and Single Pass.
  • It includes the same photo perks as Multi Pass.

When can you buy Disney Lightning Lane? The 7-day and 3-day windows

Lightning Lane passes are sold only in the My Disney Experience app, and you need valid theme park admission for every day you book. On your first day of eligibility, sales open at 7:00 AM Eastern Time, and you can plan several park days in one sitting.

Who you arePurchase opensWhat you can book
Guest of an eligible hotel (list below)7 days before check-inYour whole stay, up to 14 days
Off-site, date-based ticket3 days before your first ticket dayAll valid days on the ticket
Off-site, other ticket or Annual Pass3 days before each park visitDays inside the 3-day window

One detail is easy to miss: the hotel head start counts from the first day of your resort stay, not from your first park day.

Before your booking day, connect everyone in your Family & Friends list and check that each person’s admission shows in the app. Disney says theme park reservations are no longer required for date-based tickets, though other admission types may still need them.

Visiting from outside the US? Read the Lightning Lane page on your own country’s Disney site first. Disney’s Brazilian page, for example, says the app is intended for use in the US, is only in English, and describes buying passes after you arrive in the US.

Which hotels get the 7-day Lightning Lane window

Disney’s Lightning Lane page names exactly who gets the early-planning benefit: registered guests staying at

  • Disney Resort hotels (Disney’s own resorts; Disney’s Early Entry page lists the Disney Vacation Club villas and the Fort Wilderness cabins and campsites under this heading)
  • Walt Disney World Dolphin Hotel
  • Walt Disney World Swan Hotel
  • Walt Disney World Swan Reserve
  • Shades of Green Resort

Disney Resort hotels are not sold on Booking.com; our guide on whether it’s worth staying at a Disney resort weighs their perks against off-site prices. Shades of Green is an Armed Forces Recreation Center for US service members, their families and other authorized users, such as eligible retirees and veterans; its eligibility page lists who qualifies.

Early Entry is not the same as the 7-day window

Disney’s Early Theme Park Entry list is longer. Besides Disney Resort hotels and the four hotels above, it includes 11 other hotels, among them Four Seasons Resort Orlando, Waldorf Astoria Orlando, Signia by Hilton Orlando Bonnet Creek, Hilton Orlando Buena Vista Palace and Drury Plaza Hotel Orlando Lake Buena Vista. Their guests get 30 minutes of early entry every day of the stay, but they are not on the Lightning Lane 7-day list, so they buy 3 days ahead like other off-site guests.

If early entry alone is what you’re after, see our full list of non-Disney hotels with Early Theme Park Entry and our comparison of the Disney Springs Resort Area hotels.

Book the 7-day window on Booking.com: Swan, Dolphin and Swan Reserve

The Swan, Dolphin and Swan Reserve share one resort complex and are the only 7-day hotels you can book on Booking.com. The resort’s Disney benefits page lists the same perks for all three: Lightning Lane purchases 7 days before your stay, 30-minute Early Theme Park Entry at all four parks, Extended Evening Hours on select nights in select parks, and free standard parking at the Disney theme parks with your resort ID.

The resort says a water taxi runs about every 20 to 25 minutes to EPCOT and Hollywood Studios (not in bad weather), and walkways lead to both parks. Buses go to Animal Kingdom, Disney Springs and Magic Kingdom’s Transportation and Ticket Center. That makes the complex a natural base among the hotels near EPCOT.

Booking tip: the resort warns that to use the My Disney Experience app, the number of people on your reservation must match the number in the app exactly, so enter every adult and child. Overnight parking at the hotel is extra: at the time of writing, the resort’s FAQ listed self-parking at $40 plus tax per day and a mandatory resort service package fee of $50 plus tax per day for the Swan and Dolphin. Confirm current fees, including for the Swan Reserve. Rates vary by season, availability and how far ahead you book.

What Disney Lightning Lane costs

Disney does not publish a fixed price list. Its official page says Multi Pass and Premier Pass prices vary by park and date, Single Pass prices vary by attraction and date, prices may be higher at peak periods including holidays, and you can view prices up to 21 days ahead in the My Disney Experience app. Purchases are subject to limited availability.

The only reliable way to budget is to check your dates and parks in the app and multiply by people and days. Passes are nonrefundable and nontransferable.

Changing, using and what’s not covered

  • Changing plans: you can change the park or date of a pass in advance until you redeem your first Lightning Lane selection of that day, and change each experience or arrival window until that window starts, subject to availability.
  • Help line: Disney lists (407) 934-7639 for Lightning Lane questions.
  • Not every ride has a Lightning Lane: at Magic Kingdom, for example, the Tomorrowland Transit Authority PeopleMover, Prince Charming Regal Carrousel and Astro Orbiter appear on Disney’s Early Entry list but not on its Lightning Lane list at the time of writing.
  • Guests with disabilities: Disability Access Service (DAS) is a separate program, not a Lightning Lane pass, for guests who, due to a developmental disability such as autism, can’t wait in a conventional line for an extended time. It gives a return time comparable to the standby wait; registration is by live video chat, as soon as 60 days before a park visit or on the day itself (there is no in-person option), for the DAS guest plus up to 3 others.

Is Lightning Lane worth it? A park-by-park plan

Lightning Lane earns its cost when your must-do list is long and your park time short. With spare days and early starts, standby plus Early Entry may cover most of your list.

Magic Kingdom

Magic Kingdom has the longest Multi Pass list and two Single Pass rides, so passes are most likely to pay off here. One approach: use Early Entry, if you have it, for Seven Dwarfs Mine Train, buy a Single Pass for TRON, and spend your top Multi Pass pick on Space Mountain or Tiana’s Bayou Adventure (Disney says Tiana’s closes for refurbishment on November 2, 2026 and is expected to reopen in December 2026). Our Magic Kingdom tips cover the rest of the day.

EPCOT and Hollywood Studios

In both parks the Single Pass headliner, Cosmic Rewind or Rise of the Resistance, is on Disney’s Early Entry list, giving early-entry hotel guests a standby option.

Animal Kingdom

Animal Kingdom has no tiers, and its Single Pass ride, Avatar Flight of Passage, is also on the Early Entry list.

Frequently asked questions

How far in advance can you buy Disney Lightning Lane passes?

Registered guests of Disney Resort hotels, the Walt Disney World Swan, Dolphin, Swan Reserve and Shades of Green can buy from 7 days before the first day of their stay, for up to 14 days. Everyone else buys 3 days ahead: the whole ticket at once with a date-based ticket, otherwise day by day. Sales open at 7:00 AM Eastern Time.

Which hotels get the 7-day Lightning Lane window?

Only Disney Resort hotels, the Walt Disney World Dolphin, Walt Disney World Swan, Walt Disney World Swan Reserve and Shades of Green, according to Disney’s Lightning Lane page at the time of writing. Other hotels with Early Theme Park Entry, such as Four Seasons Resort Orlando or the Disney Springs area hotels on Disney’s list, get early entry but follow the 3-day window.

Can you buy Multi Pass and Single Pass for the same day?

Yes. Disney lets you buy a Multi Pass and Single Passes for the same day in one transaction for your whole party, subject to eligibility. A Premier Pass for the same day needs a separate transaction. Per day you can hold one Multi Pass, one Premier Pass and up to two Single Passes, with one Lightning Lane entry per attraction per pass.

Is Lightning Lane Premier Pass worth it?

It can be on one busy park day when you want every Lightning Lane ride without scheduling windows. It’s sold in limited quantities, works in one park only, and its price varies by park and date. Compare it in the app with a Multi Pass plus one or two Single Passes for the same day.

Are Lightning Lane passes refundable?

No. Disney says Lightning Lane passes are nonrefundable and nontransferable. You can, however, change the park or date in advance until you redeem your first selection of the day, and change experiences or arrival windows until each window starts, subject to availability.

Do Lightning Lane passes work in more than one park?

Only Multi Pass. After you redeem your first selection, you can pick later Multi Pass experiences in another park if your ticket has the Park Hopper option or you hold an Annual Pass. A Single Pass is valid for one attraction, and a Premier Pass covers one park for one day.

Bottom line

Disney Lightning Lane comes down to three choices: Multi Pass for most rides, Single Pass for the five headliners and Premier Pass for a no-planning day in one park. Your hotel decides when you can buy: for the 7-day head start outside Disney’s own resorts, the Swan, Dolphin and Swan Reserve are the only qualifying hotels on Booking.com. Check prices and rules in the app, since both change often.
