The Alfond Inn Winter Park is a 183-room boutique hotel owned by Rollins College, set just off Park Avenue and filled with works from the Alfond Collection of Contemporary Art. It opened in August 2013, and the hotel says its net operating income funds scholarships for Rollins students.

Below are room sizes, both pools, dining, the resort fee, valet-only parking and realistic drive times to Disney and Universal, checked on official pages in October 2026.

Quick answer: Book The Alfond Inn for a walkable, art-filled Winter Park base for couples, Rollins visits, AdventHealth appointments or a museum-and-Park-Avenue weekend. Budget for a $27 + tax nightly resort fee and valet parking from $37 + tax a day. It is not a theme park hotel: Disney is about a 40-minute drive without traffic, and there is no park shuttle.

  • Parking: valet only, from $37 + tax per day with in-and-out privileges; no self-parking on site.
  • Resort fee: $27 + tax per room, per night.

Location: why The Alfond Inn Winter Park works on foot

Park Avenue’s shops and restaurants, Central Park, Rollins College and the SunRail station are all a short walk away, so you can leave the car with the valet for most of a Winter Park stay. Walking times below are OSRM foot routes; driving times are OSRM car routes without traffic.

The hotel’s own figures differ a little: its FAQ puts MCO at about 18 miles (30 to 35 minutes), and it says Walt Disney World is about 30 minutes away. Our routes to the Disney parking lots came out at 40 to 45 minutes before traffic.

Rooms and suites

Rooms mix lattice headboards, yellow or teal walls, bright rugs and framed art. The hotel lists complimentary Wi-Fi, designer toiletries and a Julius Meinl coffeemaker in every room; the mini fridge and flat-screen TV are standard in “nearly all” rooms.

Accessible versions of several room types and suites have roll-in showers. The official pages don’t list maximum occupancy, so confirm it before you pay if you are four or more. Pack and plays are available for babies.

Pools, spa and recreation

The hotel says it has two pools. The resort pool sits on an elevated deck (the FAQ calls it the “rooftop pool and bar with sundeck”), is open to guests of all ages and has cocktail and food service to your lounge chair. Access is a resort fee inclusion.

The second pool belongs to The Spa. The Spa Pool is reserved for spa guests aged 18 and over and comes with any booked treatment, with food and drink service and private shaded cabanas you can reserve. All spa services and amenities are 18+ only.

Locker rooms include a steam room, a sauna and experience showers, and treatments range from massage and couples massage to facials. Book ahead and arrive 30 minutes early; cancellations need 24 hours’ notice, and a mandatory 22% service charge is added to à la carte treatments.

The art is a real draw: works from the Alfond Collection, part of the Rollins Museum of Art, hang throughout the building. A free, roughly 60-minute Happy Hour Art Tour leaves the lobby on the first Wednesday of each month, and a self-guided audio tour is available any time.

Dining and breakfast at Hamilton’s Kitchen

Hamilton’s Kitchen is the hotel’s restaurant, serving what it calls modern Southern cuisine built on local ingredients. An archived capture of its website (February 27, 2026) listed these hours; confirm them before you go:

  • Breakfast and lunch: 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday to Friday; 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
  • Dinner: 5 to 9 p.m. Sunday to Thursday; 5 to 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday.

Its FAQ and the hotel’s history page describe brunch and dinner service. It also has a bar lounge and a happy hour, and dogs are welcome on the outdoor patio.

The Spa Café serves salads and sandwiches; its café page says 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday to Thursday and to 5 p.m. Friday and Saturday, while the main spa page says 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily, so check on arrival. Breakfast is not a resort fee inclusion, so assume it is extra unless your rate says otherwise.

Parking and fees

This is where the bill climbs. Figures are from the hotel’s FAQ and amenities pages at the time of writing.

  • Resort fee: $27 + tax per room, per night, covering Wi-Fi, the rooftop pool, the fitness center, concierge, calls, water refills and 10% off at The Spa.
  • Valet parking: from $37 per day plus tax, with in-and-out privileges. Valet runs 24 hours; allow 10 to 15 minutes to get your car back.
  • No self-parking: the hotel says street parking is available nearby if you prefer to park yourself.
  • Day-use parking: $17 + tax; complimentary when you visit The Spa or Hamilton’s Kitchen.
  • Dogs: up to two dogs per room at $50 pre-tax per dog, per night; no other animals.
  • Security deposit: $75 per day authorized at check-in; debit cards are discouraged.
  • Taxes: Winter Park is in Orange County, where the hotel tax rate is 12.5%.

Rates vary by season, availability and how far ahead you book. If you plan a day at Disney or Universal, add their theme park parking too ($35 a day for standard parking at both, at last check).

Getting to the theme parks and around Winter Park

The Alfond Inn does not advertise a theme park shuttle, so park days mean driving or a rideshare. Interstate 4 is the main route to both resorts, and it is often congested. As an off-site hotel guest you get Disney’s standard Lightning Lane booking window of 3 days before your visit, not the 7-day window given to Disney Resort hotel guests, and no Early Theme Park Entry.

For Winter Park itself, the hotel offers complimentary house cars daily from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Rides are first come, first served and seat up to four.

The SunRail Winter Park/Amtrak station at 148 West Morse Boulevard is about a 9-minute walk. SunRail runs Monday to Friday only and does not serve the theme parks, but it is handy for downtown Orlando and the AdventHealth station, one stop south. Fares start at $2 one way within one county. Amtrak also stops here.

Amenities: fitness, Wi-Fi and services

The fitness center is open daily from 5 a.m. to 10 p.m. and has cardio machines, three Peloton bikes with free on-demand classes, strength machines and free weights. A free Saturday yoga class at 8:45 a.m. is open to hotel guests who pre-register.

Wi-Fi is listed as complimentary, though high-speed Wi-Fi is also a resort fee inclusion. The concierge can arrange in-room flowers and Winter Park boat tours, laundry is handled by local specialists, and there are more than 12,400 square feet of event space.

Who The Alfond Inn suits

It suits couples and adult travelers who want a polished, walkable small-town base rather than a theme park resort. It also suits families visiting Rollins, guests with appointments at AdventHealth Orlando and museum lovers, with two museums within walking distance. For more ideas, see our list of romantic hotels in Orlando for couples, or our hotels near AdventHealth Orlando guide if your trip is medical.

It suits park-focused families less well: check-in is 21+, the spa is 18+ and the parks are a long drive away.

Pros

  • A short walk to Park Avenue, Central Park, Rollins College and two museums.
  • A contemporary art collection throughout the hotel, with free tours.
  • Two pools, including an 18+ spa pool for spa guests.
  • Free house cars around Winter Park from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.
  • Dog friendly, with dogs allowed on the Hamilton’s Kitchen patio.
  • A wide range of room sizes, up to apartment-style suites with kitchens.

Limitations to know

  • A $27 + tax nightly resort fee on top of the room rate.
  • Valet-only parking from $37 + tax per day; no on-site self-parking.
  • No theme park shuttle and no Disney Early Theme Park Entry; Disney is about 40 minutes away without traffic.
  • Minimum check-in age of 21; spa and spa pool restricted to 18+.
  • Maximum room occupancy isn’t published on the hotel’s site.
  • SunRail doesn’t run on weekends.

What to check before you book

  • Total price: see whether your Booking.com rate shows the $27 + tax resort fee and taxes, and add valet parking.
  • Room fit: confirm maximum occupancy, bed type and sleeper sofa for your exact room.
  • Cancellation: the hotel’s own policy charges one night’s room and tax unless you cancel at least 72 hours before arrival; third-party rates can differ, so read your booking conditions.
  • Pool: the hotel doesn’t say whether the rooftop pool is heated, so ask if you travel in the cooler months.
  • Check-in times: check-in is at 4 p.m. and check-out at 11 a.m.; early check-in and late checkout depend on availability and cost extra.

Frequently asked questions

Does The Alfond Inn have a resort fee?

Yes. At the time of writing, the hotel’s FAQ lists a resort fee of $27 plus tax per room, per night. It covers concierge services, the fitness center, high-speed Wi-Fi, local and long-distance calls, the rooftop pool and bar, Bluedrop water refills and 10% off at The Spa. Check whether your Booking.com price includes it.

Is there free parking at The Alfond Inn?

Not for overnight guests. Parking is valet only, from $37 a day plus tax with in-and-out privileges, and the hotel has no self-parking lot. Street parking is available nearby. Day visitors pay $17 plus tax, but parking is complimentary when you visit The Spa or dine at Hamilton’s Kitchen. Confirm current rates when you arrive.

Is The Alfond Inn pet friendly?

Yes, for dogs. The hotel allows up to two dogs per room for $50 per dog, per night, before tax, and you must register them at the front desk on arrival. Other animals are not accepted. Dogs can also join you on the outdoor patio at Hamilton’s Kitchen, and its two-night Very Important Pup package waives the nightly pet fee.

How far is The Alfond Inn from Disney World?

By road, the Disney park parking lots are about 25 to 27 miles away, roughly 40 to 45 minutes without traffic on our routes. The hotel’s own estimate is about 30 minutes. With typical I-4 traffic, allow closer to an hour. There is no hotel shuttle, so you will need a car, a rideshare or a private transfer, plus Disney’s theme park parking fee if you drive.

Can you walk to Park Avenue from The Alfond Inn?

Yes. The hotel sits just off Park Avenue, and the walk to the corner of Park Avenue and New England Avenue is about 0.3 mile, or roughly seven minutes. Central Park, the SunRail station, the Rollins Museum of Art and the Morse Museum are all within about a 15-minute walk. Free hotel house cars also cover Winter Park from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Is The Alfond Inn good for families with kids?

It works for families, with some limits. Children can use the rooftop pool, and pack and plays are available. However, the minimum check-in age is 21, The Spa and its pool are for ages 18 and over, and the hotel lists no kids club or theme park shuttle. Families focused on the parks will usually do better staying closer to Disney or Universal.

Bottom line

The Alfond Inn Winter Park is an art-filled boutique hotel steps from Park Avenue, with a rooftop pool, a full spa and a mission that funds Rollins scholarships. Choose it for Winter Park itself, not for park days, and budget for the resort fee and valet parking. Compare current rates for The Alfond Inn.
