The best Hollywood Studios tips come down to three things: how you’ll reach the front gate, which headliner you ride first and how you end the night. Disney’s Hollywood Studios keeps most of its biggest rides in three areas, Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, Toy Story Land and Sunset Boulevard, and all of them are on Disney’s Early Theme Park Entry list, which changes how the first hour works.
We checked Disney’s official pages (the live English-language Canada site) on October 8, 2026. Hours, showtimes and prices change often, so confirm in the My Disney Experience app.
Quick answer: On the October 2026 days we checked, Disney’s calendar showed Hollywood Studios open from 9:00 AM to 9:00 PM, with Early Entry from 8:30 AM. Ride Rise of the Resistance or Slinky Dog Dash first, buy Lightning Lane when your window opens (7 or 3 days ahead), book dining 60 days out and check the calendar for Jollywood Nights, when day guests leave early.

Hollywood Studios tips before you go: a planning timeline
Disney says date-based tickets no longer need a theme park reservation, so the bookings that matter here are meals, Lightning Lane and Galaxy’s Edge experiences.

| When | What to do | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|
| 60 days before arrival | Book table-service meals and Fantasmic! packages | New dates open at about 6:00 AM |
| Once your dates are set | Reserve Savi’s Workshop if you want a lightsaber | Disney highly recommends booking ahead |
| Before your pass window | Link everyone’s tickets in the app | Needed to buy passes for the party |
| 7 or 3 days before | Buy Lightning Lane passes | Sales open at 7:00 AM Eastern |
| The week before | Check hours, shows and event nights | Jollywood Nights close early |
Disney Resort hotel guests can book dining for their whole stay (up to 10 nights) on day 60; everyone else books 60 days ahead of each meal.
How to get to Hollywood Studios: Skyliner, boats, walkways and parking
If you stay at a Skyliner resort or near EPCOT, you can reach Hollywood Studios without a car or bus. Drivers park in the lot outside the gate, and Disney’s courtesy trams run from the lot to the main entrance.
| How you arrive | Where from | Good to know |
|---|---|---|
| Disney Skyliner gondola | Art of Animation, Pop Century, Caribbean Beach, Riviera, EPCOT International Gateway | Closed January 24 to 30, 2027 |
| FriendShip boat | BoardWalk, Yacht and Beach Club, Swan and Dolphin launches | Hours vary with weather |
| Walkway | Swan, Dolphin and Swan Reserve | About 1 mile on foot |
| Disney Resort bus | Other Disney Resort hotels | Starts 45 minutes before opening |
| Your own car | Anywhere | $35 standard parking |

- Skyliner hours: gondolas start one hour before Early Entry begins at EPCOT or Hollywood Studios and stop 90 minutes after those parks close; buses replace them during the January 2027 refurbishment.
- Boats: the Swan and Dolphin says its water taxi runs about every 20 to 25 minutes, but not in bad weather. Strollers must be folded on boats and buses.
- Walking: the Swan and Dolphin says walkways lead to the entrances of EPCOT and Hollywood Studios. Our OSRM walking route from the Swan to the Hollywood Studios gate is about 1.1 miles, roughly 25 minutes.
- Parking: at the time of writing, standard parking is $35 a day and preferred $50 to $60, tax included, valid at all four parks that day; it’s included for Disney Resort hotel guests.

Early Theme Park Entry and rope drop at Hollywood Studios
Early Theme Park Entry gives guests of Disney Resort hotels and 15 other select hotels 30 minutes in any Disney theme park before opening, every day of their stay, through 2027. On October 8 and 14, 2026, Disney’s calendar showed it at Hollywood Studios from 8:30 to 9:00 AM.
Disney’s Early Entry list for this park covers every major ride: Alien Swirling Saucers, Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway, Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run, Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets, Slinky Dog Dash, Star Tours, Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance, The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror and Toy Story Mania! (subject to change).
- With Early Entry: start with Rise of the Resistance, whose line you can otherwise skip only with a paid Single Pass or Premier Pass, or with Slinky Dog Dash if your kids are at least 38 inches. They’re in different lands, so pick one.
- Without Early Entry: unlike at Magic Kingdom, every big ride here has been running for 30 minutes by official opening, so Lightning Lane is more useful if your hotel isn’t on the list.
- Extended Evening Hours: for guests of Disney Deluxe and Deluxe Villa resorts, the Swan, Dolphin, Swan Reserve and Shades of Green, on select nights; Disney’s calendar listed Hollywood Studios from 9:00 to 11:00 PM on October 14, 2026.
Check each ride’s minimum in our Disney World height requirements guide.
Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge tips
Galaxy’s Edge is set in Black Spire Outpost and holds two Star Wars rides plus two build-your-own experiences.

- Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance: Disney calls it a massive attraction with multiple ride systems. Riders must be at least 40 inches (102 cm) and transfer from a wheelchair or ECV, and Disney warns that expectant mothers should not ride.
- Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run: an interactive motion simulator from 38 inches (97 cm), with up to six crew per cockpit as pilots, gunners and engineers.
- Savi’s Workshop – Handbuilt Lightsabers: $274.99 per lightsaber plus tax at the time of writing, paid when you book, with the full price charged for cancellations within 24 hours. Disney recommends it for ages 5 and up.
- Droid Depot: build a BB- or R-series droid for $129.99 plus tax (ages 3 and up recommended).
- Oga’s Cantina: a cantina Disney calls a notorious local watering hole, with drinks for all ages. On October 8, 2026, it listed lunch from 10:00 AM and dinner until 9:00 PM; the Disney Dining Plan isn’t accepted.
Toy Story Land tips
Toy Story Land is themed to Andy’s backyard, and its three rides cover three height bands:
- Slinky Dog Dash: a family coaster from 38 inches (97 cm), and one of the four top-group Multi Pass picks.
- Alien Swirling Saucers: a gentle spinning ride from 32 inches (81 cm).
- Toy Story Mania!: no height minimum; you wear 3D glasses and shoot at targets across five games from a moving tram.
For food, Woody’s Lunch Box is a walk-up window that takes Mobile Order, and Roundup Rodeo BBQ is a family-style, western-themed restaurant in the same land. The Toys also meet guests here.
Sunset Boulevard: Tower of Terror and the Muppets coaster
Sunset Boulevard is home to the only two rides here that Disney tags with big drops, both indoors.

- The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror: from 40 inches (102 cm). Disney warns of sudden, fast drops in a dark, enclosed space that may frighten some guests.
- Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets: from 48 inches (122 cm), the park’s tallest minimum. You ride a limousine through Hollywood with three inversions (two rollover loops and a corkscrew) to music from The Electric Mayhem.
Rider Switch, which lets adults take turns while one waits with a child, works at seven rides here: Alien Swirling Saucers, Smugglers Run, Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster, Slinky Dog Dash, Star Tours, Rise of the Resistance and Tower of Terror.
Lightning Lane at Hollywood Studios
Lightning Lane passes let you skip the standby line at selected rides and shows for a fee:
| Pass | What it covers here | How it works |
|---|---|---|
| Single Pass | Rise of the Resistance | One ride, up to 2 Single Passes per day |
| Multi Pass, top group | Runaway Railway, Smugglers Run, Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster, Slinky Dog Dash | Up to 1 of your first 3 picks |
| Multi Pass, second group | 9 rides and shows, incl. Tower of Terror and Toy Story Mania! | The rest, then more one at a time |
| Premier Pass | One entry to every available Lightning Lane | No windows, limited quantities |
The second group also includes Alien Swirling Saucers, Star Tours and five shows, such as the Indiana Jones Epic Stunt Spectacular. Guests of Disney Resort hotels, the Swan, Dolphin, Swan Reserve and Shades of Green can buy 7 days before check-in for their stay (up to 14 days); everyone else buys 3 days ahead. Prices vary by date and appear in the app.
A simple plan: ride Rise of the Resistance standby during Early Entry if you have it (or buy the Single Pass if you don’t), use your top Multi Pass pick on Slinky Dog Dash or Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster, and fill the second group with Tower of Terror, Toy Story Mania! and a show. Our Disney Lightning Lane guide explains each pass.
Fantasmic!, Wonderful World of Animation and daytime shows
Fantasmic!
Fantasmic! is a 29-minute open-air show in an amphitheater on Sunset Boulevard, with stunts, pyrotechnics, water and music, in which Disney Villains turn Mickey’s dream into a nightmare. Disney’s tips:
- You can enter as early as 90 minutes before each show; have your whole party together.
- Guests in the first couple of rows may get wet.
- It’s an outdoor show and can be cancelled in bad weather.
- On October 8 and 14, 2026, it played at 8:00 and 9:30 PM; on November 10 only at 9:30 PM.
The Fantasmic! Dining Package adds a meal and a voucher for a reserved seating area. Adult prices (ages 10 and up) run from $62 at 50’s Prime Time Cafe or Sci-Fi Dine-In Theater to $84 at The Hollywood Brown Derby, and kids’ prices from $23 to $52 (Hollywood & Vine lunch or dinner), plus tax and gratuity. Arrive at least 25 minutes before showtime; the meal goes ahead even if the show is cancelled.
Wonderful World of Animation
This 12-minute projection show turns the facade of the Chinese Theatre on Hollywood Boulevard into a tribute to more than 90 years of Disney and Pixar animation. It was scheduled at 9:00 PM on October 8 and 14, 2026.
Daytime shows and The Magic of Disney Animation
Daytime shows include the new Disney Jr. Mickey Mouse Clubhouse Live!, the Indiana Jones Epic Stunt Spectacular, Beauty and the Beast Live on Stage, the Frozen Sing-Along, The Little Mermaid – A Musical Adventure and Disney Villains: Unfairly Ever After. The new Magic of Disney Animation in Animation Courtyard adds Olaf Draws, a drawing class.
Jollywood Nights and other special events
Disney Jollywood Nights is the park’s separately ticketed holiday party, a 5-hour event from 7:30 PM to 12:30 AM on select nights:
- 2026: November 7, 14, 16, 21, 23 and 28; December 5, 7, 12, 14, 19, 21 and 23.
- 2027: January 3 and 5.
- Tickets: $169 to $199 plus tax, depending on the date, with $10 off for kids 3 to 9, at the time of writing. Ticket holders can enter from 5:30 PM, and no separate day ticket is needed.
- Highlights: Disney Holidays in Hollywood, hosted by Kermit the Frog and Miss Piggy, a Nightmare Before Christmas sing-along, more than 20 character experiences and PhotoPass downloads.
Party nights affect day guests. On November 7, 2026, Disney’s calendar showed regular park hours ending at 7:00 PM and Fantasmic! at 6:30 PM, so pick another date if the nighttime shows matter to you. For the rest of the season, see our guide to Christmas in Orlando.
Disney After Hours, a limited-capacity ticketed event, returns on select nights from January 16 to August 25, 2027, at $159 to $199 plus tax. Construction also continues on Monstropolis, a Monsters, Inc. land: Disney says parts will open in 2027 while work continues on its door coaster.
Hotels that make Hollywood Studios days easier
Disney’s own Skyliner and boat resorts are booked through Disney, not Booking.com. Both hotels below are on Disney’s Early Entry list; distances are OSRM routes without traffic.
Walt Disney World Swan Reserve

The Swan Reserve, at 1255 Epcot Resorts Boulevard, is a 14-story tower with 349 rooms, including 149 suites. The Hollywood Studios gate is about 1 mile on foot by our OSRM route, and the resort’s water taxi leaves from the dock between the Swan and Dolphin, a short walk away. Guests get Early Entry, Extended Evening Hours, the 7-day Lightning Lane window and free standard theme park parking.
At the time of writing, Disney’s parking page listed hotel self-parking for registered guests of the three hotels at $40 a day plus tax, and the resort’s FAQ listed a mandatory $50-a-day resort service package plus tax without naming the Swan Reserve separately, so confirm both when you book. Our Swan vs Dolphin vs Swan Reserve comparison covers rooms and pools.

Holiday Inn Orlando – Disney Springs Area

This Holiday Inn on Hotel Plaza Boulevard is about 6 miles by road from Hollywood Studios parking, and the hotel says Disney Springs is a short walk. Its hourly bus serves all four Disney parks, but you must reserve seats for your whole party, up to 48 hours ahead. You get Early Entry but buy Lightning Lane 3 days ahead.
At the time of writing, the hotel’s site lists a $39 nightly resort fee plus 12.5% tax, which covers the park shuttle, and parking at $27 (standard) or $31 (preferred) plus tax; an older IHG page listed $25. Our Holiday Inn Orlando Disney Springs review covers rooms and fees.

Frequently asked questions
What should you ride first at Hollywood Studios?
Start with Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance if it’s your top ride, because its only line-skipping options are the paid Single Pass and Premier Pass. With kids of at least 38 inches, Slinky Dog Dash is the alternative. Both are on Disney’s Early Entry list, so guests of qualifying hotels can ride either before official opening.
How do you get to Hollywood Studios without a car?
Take the Disney Skyliner from Art of Animation, Pop Century, Caribbean Beach, Riviera or EPCOT’s International Gateway, or the FriendShip boat from the BoardWalk, Yacht and Beach Club, Swan and Dolphin; the Swan and Dolphin also have walkways. Other Disney Resort hotels have buses, and some off-site hotels, such as the Holiday Inn above, run shuttles.
Is Lightning Lane worth it at Hollywood Studios?
It helps most if your hotel doesn’t have Early Entry, because every major ride here gets a 30-minute head start for those guests. Multi Pass covers one top-group ride, such as Slinky Dog Dash, plus rides and shows from the second group; Rise of the Resistance needs a Single Pass.
How early should you get to Fantasmic!?
Disney opens the amphitheater up to 90 minutes before each show and advises arriving early, with your whole party together, to get a seat. To skip the wait, the Fantasmic! Dining Package includes a voucher for a reserved section, where you should arrive at least 25 minutes before showtime.
Can you do Hollywood Studios in one day?
Yes, if you plan it, and Early Entry or Lightning Lane makes it easier. Ride Rise of the Resistance or Slinky Dog Dash early, use shows as afternoon breaks and stay for Fantasmic! or Wonderful World of Animation. Check the calendar first: on Jollywood Nights dates the park closes early for day guests.
What are the dates for Disney Jollywood Nights 2026?
Disney lists November 7, 14, 16, 21, 23 and 28 and December 5, 7, 12, 14, 19, 21 and 23, 2026, plus January 3 and 5, 2027. The party runs from 7:30 PM to 12:30 AM, ticket holders can enter from 5:30 PM, and tickets cost $169 to $199 plus tax at the time of writing.
Bottom line
These Hollywood Studios tips come down to the first and last hours: ride Rise of the Resistance or Slinky Dog Dash early, buy Lightning Lane when your window opens, check the calendar for Jollywood Nights and plan Fantasmic! around Disney’s showtimes. To walk or ride a boat to the gate with Disney’s evening perks, book the Walt Disney World Swan Reserve.
