Disney World transportation is a free network of buses, monorails, Disney Skyliner gondolas, boats and walking paths that links Disney’s resort hotels with the four theme parks, the two water parks and Disney Springs. Disney says it starts 45 minutes before a theme park opens and runs until up to one hour after the park closes.

The network is built for Disney Resort hotel guests, but day visitors can use much of it. A few rules still surprise people, such as who can board a bus at Disney Springs and why a rideshare to Magic Kingdom ends with a ferry or monorail ride. Schedules change, so confirm them before you travel.

Quick answer: Disney’s buses, monorails, Skyliner and boats are free and mostly run from about 45 minutes before park opening until about one hour after closing. Disney says day visitors can ride them too, except the buses and boats from Disney Springs to Disney resorts, which need a resort stay or a resort dining or experience reservation. For Magic Kingdom, cars and rideshares stop at the Transportation and Ticket Center (TTC), and you finish by ferryboat or monorail.

Who can use Disney transportation?

Disney’s resort transportation page calls the service a benefit for guests of “select Disney Resort hotels.” Its help center goes further: it says all guests have complimentary access to the monorails, buses, boats and Disney Skyliner. It even suggests parking at one theme park and using the network to reach other parks, a resort restaurant or Disney Springs.

Disney Springs is the exception. Disney’s bus page says buses from Disney Springs to Disney Resort hotels are for resort guests or visitors with a valid dining or experience reservation at a resort, who may board up to 2 hours early. Staff may ask for a room key or reservation. The Sassagoula River Cruise boats follow the same rule.

Guests of the Walt Disney World Swan, Dolphin and Swan Reserve, three Marriott-run hotels inside Walt Disney World, use FriendShip boats, walkways and Disney-provided buses that stop at their front entrances. Our guide to whether it is worth staying at a Disney resort weighs transportation against off-site perks.

Disney buses: routes, hours and rules

Disney says bus service between its resort hotels and the theme parks begins 45 minutes before opening and ends one hour after closing.

  • Disney Springs hours: Disney’s pages disagree. The bus page, the main help-center answer and the Disney Springs website say buses run until one hour after Disney Springs closes. The resort transportation page says until 11:00 p.m., and one older help-center answer says until 12:30 a.m. Check the signs at your resort.
  • Water parks: on days when Typhoon Lagoon is open, you change buses at Disney Springs. For Blizzard Beach, you change at Animal Kingdom, except from Coronado Springs and the All-Star resorts, which have direct buses.
  • Rules: some routes need a transfer. Luggage and alcohol are not allowed, and strollers must be folded.
  • Help: use “Get Directions” in the My Disney Experience app, ask a Cast Member or call (407) 939-7433.

The Walt Disney World Monorail: three lines

The Resort Monorail stops at Magic Kingdom, Disney’s Contemporary Resort, Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa, Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort and the TTC. The Express Monorail runs between the TTC and Magic Kingdom, and the EPCOT Monorail between the TTC and EPCOT.

Disney says the Resort and Express monorails start 30 minutes before Magic Kingdom opens and stop one hour after it closes. The EPCOT Monorail starts 30 minutes before EPCOT opens and stops 2 hours after it closes. The monorail does not serve Hollywood Studios, Animal Kingdom or Disney Springs, and Magic Kingdom to EPCOT means changing trains at the TTC. Our Magic Kingdom tips cover timing at park opening.

The Disney Skyliner

The Skyliner gondolas connect Disney’s Hollywood Studios and EPCOT’s International Gateway with four resorts: Disney’s Art of Animation Resort, Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort, Disney’s Pop Century Resort and Disney’s Riviera Resort. Disney says the International Gateway station is a short stroll from Disney’s BoardWalk, Disney’s Yacht Club Resort, Disney’s Beach Club Resort and Disney’s BoardWalk Inn.

  • Hours: it opens one hour before Early Theme Park Entry begins at EPCOT or Hollywood Studios and closes 90 minutes after those parks close.
  • Extended Evening Hours at EPCOT: Disney says it closes one hour after Extended Evening Hours end, and only the International Gateway to Riviera route runs then.
  • Parking: after EPCOT closes, the Skyliner cannot take you to the EPCOT parking lot; Disney says to use a bus.
  • Refurbishment: closed January 24 to January 30, 2027, with free buses in its place.

Our EPCOT tips cover the International Gateway entrance.

Boats: ferryboats, water launches and FriendShip boats

Disney says most boat routes run every 15 to 30 minutes, with hours that vary with water and weather conditions. Luggage and alcohol are not allowed, and strollers must be folded.

  • Magic Kingdom: ferryboats link the TTC with the park. Water launches run to the park from Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa, Disney’s Polynesian Villas & Bungalows, Disney’s Wilderness Lodge and Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground.
  • EPCOT and Hollywood Studios: FriendShip boats serve both parks from Disney’s BoardWalk Villas, Disney’s Beach Club Villas, Disney’s Yacht Club Resort and the Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin. Disney also lists FriendShip launches inside EPCOT near the Mexico, Canada, Germany and Morocco pavilions.
  • Disney Springs: the Sassagoula River Cruise links Disney Springs with Disney’s Old Key West Resort, Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa and the two Port Orleans resorts, Riverside and French Quarter.

Walking paths to the parks

Disney says certain areas are linked by “well-lit, paved, low-grade walking paths.”

  • Magic Kingdom: Disney says you can walk to the main gate from the Contemporary’s main tower and Garden Wing, and that a walking path of less than one mile now links the Grand Floridian with the park.
  • EPCOT and Hollywood Studios: the Swan and Dolphin say their walkways lead to both parks. By our route check, the Dolphin is about 0.7 mile (about 15 minutes) from International Gateway and about 1.1 miles from Hollywood Studios. The Swan Reserve is about 0.9 mile from International Gateway.
  • Animal Kingdom: Disney lists no monorail, boat, Skyliner or walking link. You arrive by bus, car or rideshare.

Minnie Vans: still running, but not free

At the time of writing, Disney lists Minnie Van Service connected by Lyft for rides between select locations inside Walt Disney World. You open the Lyft app on Disney property, choose a Minnie Van and pay in the app. Disney says prices depend on distance, and Lyft shows a fare estimate first.

  • Vans: up to 6 guests, with 2 child safety seats that Cast Members can install. Accessible vans seat 5, carry 2 mobility devices and one free car seat, and any guest can order one.
  • Airport: guests of Disney Deluxe and Deluxe Villa resorts and Club Level rooms can book a Minnie Van to or from Orlando International Airport at (407) 828-3500, from 60 days to 2 days ahead. Disney publishes no fare.

Magic Kingdom and the Transportation and Ticket Center

At Magic Kingdom, drivers do not reach the gate directly. Disney’s courtesy trams take you from the parking lot to the TTC, where you board a ferryboat or the Express Monorail to the park entrance. The EPCOT Monorail also leaves from the TTC.

  • Parking: Disney charges $35 a day for standard parking, $50, $55 or $60 for preferred and $40 for oversized vehicles, tax included. One payment covers all four theme parks that day, and Disney Resort hotel guests get standard parking included.
  • Rideshares: the Swan and Dolphin’s transportation page says ordinary rideshare cars drop guests at the front of the TTC. The monorail or ferryboat transfer can add 45 minutes to over an hour, depending on crowds. Minnie Vans may use the Disney bus depot near the park entrance instead.
  • Hotel shuttles: ask where yours stops. The Swan and Dolphin buses, for example, drop Magic Kingdom guests at the TTC.

Our guide to Orlando theme park parking compares Disney’s lots with the other parks.

Park hopping: how to get between the parks

Disney’s help center suggests these routes. For your exact trip, use “Get Directions” in the My Disney Experience app.

BetweenDisney’s suggested routeNotes
Magic Kingdom and EPCOTMonorailChange trains at the TTC
EPCOT and Hollywood StudiosFriendShip boat or SkylinerBoth use International Gateway
Animal Kingdom and any other parkBusNo monorail, boat or Skyliner

The last row comes from the Disney Springs website, which says bus service from the theme parks to Disney Springs is not available. Disney’s help center still suggests parking at a theme park and using the network to shop at Disney Springs, so ask a Cast Member for the current route.

Disney Springs: free parking, but not a park shuttle hub

Disney Springs has free standard self-parking, and Disney says its garages open at 9:00 a.m. on regular days. Disney’s buses from Disney Springs serve Disney Resort hotels (and Typhoon Lagoon when it is open), not the theme parks. Only resort guests or people with a resort reservation can board the resort buses. The Disney Springs website lists two rideshare drop-off points: the Marketplace Loop and the West Side Bus and Rideshare Loop. Our Disney Springs guide covers the garages, and our list of Disney Springs hotels shows which ones you can walk from.

Orlando airport to Disney World: no more Magical Express

Disney’s Magical Express, the free airport bus for Disney Resort guests, ended with arrivals from January 1, 2022. Disney’s airport FAQ now lists Minnie Van airport service, rental cars, Lyft and Mears private transportation.

For a shared shuttle, Mears Connect lists $16 per adult and $13 per child ages 3 to 9; children under 3 ride free. With its privilege fee recovery charge, the one-way trip from the airport costs $17.60 and $14.30, and Mears adds a 6% fuel surcharge “until further notice.” Our guide to getting from Orlando airport to Disney World compares every option.

Staying off-site: shuttles, rideshare and the bus

Many off-site hotels run free or fee-covered park shuttles, but schedules vary, many need reservations and some skip a park. Ask for the last return time before you book; our list of hotels near Disney World with a free shuttle compares them. Rideshare is the most flexible option, and LYNX public buses also reach Disney Springs; see our guide to getting around Orlando without a car. Splitting your trip with Universal? Non-Disney hotels that make Disney transportation easier

These five hotels are not Disney-owned, so you can book them on Booking.com. The Swan, Dolphin and Swan Reserve sit in Disney’s EPCOT Resort Area; the Hilton and Wyndham sit next to Disney Springs, with scheduled park shuttles. All five are on Disney’s Early Theme Park Entry list: 30 minutes of early entry at all four theme parks. Our Swan vs Dolphin vs Swan Reserve comparison helps you choose among the first three. Rates vary by season, availability and how far ahead you book.

Walt Disney World Dolphin

The resort’s transportation FAQ says water taxis leave the dock between the Swan and Dolphin about every 20 to 25 minutes for Disney’s BoardWalk, EPCOT and Hollywood Studios, starting one hour before the parks open, but not in bad weather. Buses leave about every 20 to 25 minutes for Magic Kingdom (via the TTC), Animal Kingdom and Disney Springs (its Disney benefits page says 20 to 30) and run until 45 minutes after the parks close and up to 90 minutes after Disney Springs closes. Budget the mandatory $50 + tax daily resort service package. Disney lists hotel self-parking at $40 + tax a day, and the resort says standard theme park parking is complimentary. Read our Walt Disney World Dolphin review.

Walt Disney World Swan

The Swan shares the same dock, buses, walkways and $50 + tax daily package, and its walk to International Gateway is about the same as the Dolphin’s. Our Walt Disney World Swan review covers its rooms and balconies.

Walt Disney World Swan Reserve

The Swan Reserve stands across Epcot Resorts Boulevard from the Swan. The resort’s FAQ says buses also leave from its front entrance. For boats, you walk about 5 minutes to the Swan and Dolphin dock. Our Walt Disney World Swan Reserve review has the details.

Hilton Orlando Lake Buena Vista

This 814-room Hilton is linked to Disney Springs by a pedestrian skybridge. Its park shuttle is booked through the operator, Fabulous Buses: buses leave hourly at 30 minutes past the hour, and you can reserve up to 48 hours ahead (required for Magic Kingdom, recommended for the other parks). For sample dates in November 2026, the operator’s calendar showed the first Magic Kingdom bus at 6:30 a.m., and its page says return buses run until 60 minutes after the parks close. Hilton’s page (June 2026 capture) says the daily resort charge includes the Disney shuttle but does not show the amount; self-parking was $38 a night and valet $48 plus 6.5% tax. See our Hilton Orlando Lake Buena Vista review.

Wyndham Lake Buena Vista

The Wyndham’s FAQ says Disney Springs is a short walk across a pedestrian bridge next to its front entrance. Hourly shuttles serve all four theme parks from 90 minutes before opening until 90 minutes after closing, and reservations are required. There is no shuttle to the water parks, runDisney events or after-hours events. The operator, Fabulous Buses, lists the Magic Kingdom stop at the TTC. Its calendar showed the first Magic Kingdom bus at 7:00 a.m. for sample dates in November 2026. The resort fee is $36 + tax a night, and self-parking costs $30 + tax a night. Our Wyndham Lake Buena Vista review covers the pools and rooms.

Frequently asked questions

Can you use Disney transportation if you are not staying at a Disney resort?

Yes, with limits. Disney’s help center says all guests have free access to the monorails, buses, boats and Disney Skyliner, and suggests parking at one theme park and riding to others. The main exception is Disney Springs: buses and boats from there to Disney resorts are only for resort guests or visitors with a resort dining or experience reservation.

What time does Disney transportation start and stop?

Disney says resort transportation begins 45 minutes before a theme park opens and runs until one hour after it closes. The Resort and Express monorails start 30 minutes before Magic Kingdom opens, and the EPCOT Monorail runs until 2 hours after EPCOT closes. The Skyliner opens one hour before Early Theme Park Entry and closes 90 minutes after EPCOT or Hollywood Studios close.

Does the monorail go to every Disney park?

No. The monorail serves Magic Kingdom, EPCOT, the TTC and three resorts: the Contemporary, Grand Floridian and Polynesian. For Hollywood Studios, use the Skyliner, a FriendShip boat, a walkway from the EPCOT-area hotels or a bus. Animal Kingdom is reached by bus, car or rideshare. To go from Magic Kingdom to EPCOT, change monorails at the TTC.

Are Minnie Vans still available at Disney World?

Yes. At the time of writing, Disney still lists Minnie Van Service connected by Lyft. You request a van in the Lyft app while on Disney property and pay a fare based on distance. Vans carry up to 6 guests with 2 child seats. Guests of Disney Deluxe and Deluxe Villa resorts and Club Level rooms can also book a Minnie Van to or from the airport by phone.

Is there free transportation from Orlando airport to Disney World?

No. Disney’s Magical Express ended with arrivals from January 1, 2022, and Disney’s free buses run only inside Walt Disney World. Mears Connect’s shared shuttle costs $17.60 per adult and $14.30 per child ages 3 to 9 one way from the airport, plus a 6% fuel surcharge at the time of writing. Rideshare, taxis and rental cars are the other main options.

Bottom line

Disney World transportation works best when you stay where it starts: a Disney Resort hotel, or the Swan, Dolphin or Swan Reserve with their boats and walkways. Day visitors can ride between parks too, but should plan for the TTC at Magic Kingdom and the bus rules at Disney Springs. For boats and walks at a Booking.com rate, the Dolphin and Swan sit next to the FriendShip dock. See current rates at the Walt Disney World Dolphin.
