The best hotels with water parks near Universal are CoCo Key Hotel and Water Resort, with its own 54,000-square-foot water park about 2 road miles from Universal’s garages, and Universal’s own hotels, whose pools add big slides, a lazy river and paths or free buses to Volcano Bay. Westgate Lakes and JW Marriott Orlando Grande Lakes add a wave pool, a slide tower and lazy rivers.
This is the Universal-area companion to our guide to Orlando hotels with water parks and waterslides. We checked every slide, entry rule and fee on official pages in October 2026 and measured road distances with OSRM, an open routing engine.
Timing matters this winter: Universal says Volcano Bay closes for maintenance on October 26, 2026, with reopening planned on or before April 1, 2027. In that window, your hotel pool is your water park.
Quick answer: For a real water park at your hotel, book CoCo Key: its $45-plus-tax resort fee includes up to four water park tickets per room and free scheduled Universal shuttles. To stay on Universal property, Cabana Bay has a dive-tower slide and the only lazy river at a Universal hotel, plus a walking path to Volcano Bay; Hard Rock pairs a 260-foot slide with free Universal Express. For a full resort water park, choose JW Marriott Orlando Grande Lakes, about 8 road miles away, and for a wave pool, Westgate Lakes (its water park costs $25 a day).

How we chose these hotels with water parks near Universal
- Verified water features: a water park, waterslide or lazy river on the hotel’s own pages (Universal’s and Loews’ for the on-site hotels).
- Close to Universal: on Universal’s property or within about 8 road miles of its garages, with a walk, bus or shuttle to the parks.
- What entry costs: free for guests, covered by the resort fee or sold separately, plus parking.
- No scores: we don’t rank by review ratings.
We left out hotels whose official pages list pools but no slide, lazy river or water play area. If a gentle float matters more than slides, see our list of Orlando hotels with lazy rivers.

1. CoCo Key Hotel and Water Resort

CoCo Key is the closest full hotel water park to Universal that we found. Its 54,000-square-foot park, about half under a canopy, has 14 slides and rides, two pools and splash zones, including the Boomerango double-tube ride, the near-vertical Over the Falls and Parrot’s Perch, a play structure with slides and water cannons for younger kids. The 391-room hotel also has an arcade and three restaurants.
Entry is part of the deal. CoCo Key’s daily resort fee of $45 plus tax includes up to four water park tickets per room (its two-room Family Standard lists eight passes), Wi-Fi and the scheduled theme park shuttles. The fee and the $15 daily parking charge are waived on stays of seven nights or more, per the hotel’s FAQ.
- Why stay: slide days between park days, a short walk from your room.
- Getting there / to the parks: as a Universal Partner Hotel, CoCo Key runs free scheduled shuttles to Universal’s parks. Book in person at the lobby’s Vacation Planning Center (7 to 11 a.m.) 24 hours ahead; seats are first come, first served, and the buses don’t serve Early Park Admission. One daily Disney run leaves for EPCOT at 9:50 a.m. and picks up at EPCOT at 5:45 p.m. for the trip back. Epic Universe is about 3.5 miles by road.
- Good to know: the hotel’s day-pass terms list 48-inch minimums for Boomerango and Cyclone, 42 inches for Surfer’s Splash and 40 inches for the Parrot’s Perch slides and Top of the Falls. Below 59°F only the Lagoon pool runs, and the park closes at 55°F or for nearby lightning.
Best for: budget-minded families who want a sure water park day, especially while Volcano Bay is closed. Our CoCo Key Orlando review covers the rooms and dining.

2. Universal Cabana Bay Beach Resort

Cabana Bay is the family pool hotel on Universal’s property, with two big sand-beach pools: the Cabana Courtyard pool with a dive-tower-themed waterslide and an interactive water play area for kids, and the Lazy River Courtyard pool with a winding lazy river. Loews says lazy river tubes are sold, not lent. Galaxy Bowl adds 10 lanes of bowling (fees apply).
Universal lists 300-square-foot Standard Rooms with two queens and 430-square-foot Family Suites that sleep up to six, with a kitchenette, a sliding privacy partition and a compartmentalized bathroom.
- Why stay: the only lazy river at a Universal hotel, a walking path straight to Volcano Bay and Universal hotel perks such as Early Park Admission.
- Getting there / to the parks: walking paths lead to CityWalk for Universal Studios Florida and Islands of Adventure, and Universal’s FAQ says free buses come about every 15 minutes, including to Epic Universe.
- Good to know: no resort fee is listed and overnight self-parking is $26 plus tax. Universal Express isn’t included. The pools are heated, but Universal closes waterslides when it’s below 60°F.
Best for: Universal-focused families who want a slide and a lazy river without paying for a deluxe hotel. Read our Universal Cabana Bay Beach Resort guide for the suites.
3. Universal’s Hard Rock Hotel

Hard Rock’s pool is built around one big feature: a 260-foot slide. Universal lists a 12,000-square-foot pool with an underwater sound system, two hot tubs, a real sand beach and a volleyball court. Cabanas cost extra, and standard rooms run 375 to 500 square feet.
Guests also get free Universal Express Unlimited at Universal Studios Florida and Islands of Adventure for the whole stay, per Universal’s hotel FAQ. It doesn’t work at Epic Universe or Volcano Bay.
- Why stay: a big slide plus free Express, close to Universal Studios Florida.
- Getting there / to the parks: walking paths to CityWalk, a free water taxi and shuttle buses, and a dedicated bus route to Volcano Bay.
- Good to know: overnight self-parking is $36 and valet $45 per night, plus tax, and no resort fee is listed. Pool-sharing rules let you try Cabana Bay’s lazy river too.
Best for: families who will use Express on busy days and want a slide waiting back at the hotel. See our Hard Rock Hotel Orlando review.
4. Loews Sapphire Falls Resort

Loews calls Sapphire Falls’ pool the largest at Universal Orlando Resort. Universal lists it at 16,000 square feet with a sand beach, a waterslide, a children’s play area, a hot tub, cabanas for rent and a fire pit, and Loews adds pop-up jets in the kids’ area. Unlike Hard Rock, Portofino Bay and Royal Pacific, Sapphire Falls doesn’t include Universal Express.
- Why stay: the biggest pool on Universal’s property, a slide, and grounds with waterfalls and water views.
- Getting there / to the parks: a free water taxi and shuttle buses run to CityWalk. For Volcano Bay, Universal’s page for the hotel lists both a dedicated bus route and a walking path; Loews says the path is unavailable while the water park is closed.
- Good to know: overnight self-parking is $36 and valet $45, plus tax. Universal’s heated pools still close their slides below 60°F.
Best for: pool-first families who don’t need Express. Our Loews Sapphire Falls Resort guide covers rooms and dining.
5. Loews Portofino Bay Hotel

Portofino Bay spreads its water across three pools. The Beach Pool is the family one, with a Roman aqueduct-themed waterslide, a sandy beach, an adjacent children’s pool, two hot tubs and three beach cabanas. The Villa Pool adds private cabana rentals and upgraded loungers, and the Hillside Pool on the east wing is the quiet choice.
Like Hard Rock, Portofino Bay includes free Universal Express Unlimited at Universal Studios Florida and Islands of Adventure for registered guests, according to Universal.
- Why stay: a slide for the kids, two calmer pools for adults and free Express, in an Italian harbor setting.
- Getting there / to the parks: a free water taxi or walking path to CityWalk, shuttle buses, and a dedicated bus route to Volcano Bay.
- Good to know: overnight self-parking is $36 and valet $45 per night, plus tax; no resort fee is listed.
Best for: multigenerational trips that want both a family pool and a quiet one. Read our Loews Portofino Bay Hotel review.
6. Universal Aventura Hotel

Aventura’s own pool is modest: one pool with a kids’ splash zone and a fire pit. It earns its place because it sits next door to Cabana Bay and belongs to the same pool-sharing group, so your kids can use Cabana Bay’s dive-tower slide and lazy river, and because Universal lists a walking path from the hotel straight to Volcano Bay. Universal’s hotel page says that path is the only way to reach Volcano Bay from Aventura.
- Why stay: a walk to Volcano Bay, pool-hopping to Cabana Bay and a rooftop bar.
- Getting there / to the parks: free shuttle buses to CityWalk and Epic Universe, which Universal’s FAQ puts at about every 15 minutes, plus walking paths to CityWalk and the parks.
- Good to know: overnight self-parking is $30 plus tax per night, no resort fee is listed and Universal Express isn’t included.
Best for: couples and small families who want Volcano Bay on foot and borrow a bigger pool next door. See our Universal Aventura Hotel guide.
7. Westgate Lakes Resort & Spa

Westgate Lakes, a lakefront villa resort, is the wave-pool pick. Its pirate-themed Treasure Cove water park holds 161,000 gallons and has dual 30-foot waterslides, a 41,000-gallon wave pool, the Castaway Creek lazy river, a splash pad and private cabanas. The resort also lists seven heated outdoor pools, and its villas have kitchenettes or full kitchens.
The catch is the ticket. Westgate says Treasure Cove admission isn’t included for most guests: a single day is $25 (children under 3 free), and 3-day and 5-day passes cost $40 and $65 at the water park’s ticket counter, at the time of writing; a Booking.com rate includes entry only if it says so.
- Why stay: a wave pool and lazy river next to villas with kitchens, plus a free Universal shuttle.
- Getting there / to the parks: registered guests can reserve the free shuttle up to 48 hours ahead via a QR code at the front desk (first come, first served); Westgate’s FAQ lists Universal Studios Florida, Islands of Adventure, CityWalk and Epic Universe, though Booking.com’s notes say it runs only to Universal’s transportation hub. By road it’s about 4 to 6 miles to Universal’s garages, depending on direction, and about 5 to Epic Universe.
- Good to know: the resort fee is $29.99 plus tax per night, Booking.com lists free on-site parking, check-out is at 10 a.m. and you must be 21 to check in.
Best for: groups who want space and a kitchen and don’t mind buying water park days. Read our Westgate Lakes Resort review.
8. Hilton Orlando

The Hilton Orlando on Destination Parkway publishes the length of its lazy river: 892 feet, with complimentary tubes. Around it: a zero-entry main pool the hotel keeps temperature-controlled year-round, a waterslide (48-inch minimum) that runs on a limited daily schedule, a splash pad, rentable cabanas and an enclosed pool for adults 18 and older.
Hilton says it’s less than a mile from Epic Universe; by road it’s about 2 miles to Epic’s parking toll plaza and about 4.5 to 5.5 miles to Universal’s main garages.
- Why stay: a long lazy river with free tubes, a slide and shuttles to both Universal and Disney.
- Getting there / to the parks: as a Universal Partner Hotel, it offers complimentary Universal transportation, booked in person at the Universal Vacation Planning Desk in the lobby; its Universal page says all four parks, its transportation page three, so ask about Epic Universe. Reserved Magic Kingdom and EPCOT shuttles are in the resort charge.
- Good to know: the resort charge is $47 plus tax per night and covers in-room Wi-Fi, the Disney shuttle, two daily I-Ride Trolley passes and equipment rental. Self-parking is $38 and valet $50 per night, plus tax.
Best for: families splitting a trip between Universal, Epic Universe and Disney who want one resort pool to come back to. See our Hilton Orlando review.
9. Hyatt Regency Orlando

Hyatt Regency Orlando’s water feature is the Grotto Pool, which SeaWorld’s hotel-partner page describes as a 10,000-square-foot, heated, zero-entry pool with cascading waterfalls, a 100-foot-long water slide, a children’s splash pool and private cabanas. The nearly Olympic-size Terrace Pool is the quieter place for laps. Neither page lists a lazy river.
- Why stay: a real slide pool at a big International Drive hotel with five restaurants and a spa.
- Getting there / to the parks: Hyatt’s homepage (August 2026 capture) describes it as a Universal Partner Hotel with transportation to Universal’s parks, SeaWorld and Aquatica based on regular park hours, while its Universal page mentions “all three” Universal parks, so ask about Epic Universe; you reserve in person at the lobby’s Vacation Planning Center. By road it’s about 3.5 to 5 miles to Universal’s garages and 2.5 miles to Epic Universe.
- Good to know: Hyatt listed a $48 daily resort fee in August 2026, and Booking.com lists on-site parking at US$45 a day.
Best for: convention-week families who want a slide pool next to the Orange County Convention Center. Our Hyatt Regency Orlando review has the details.
10. JW Marriott Orlando Grande Lakes

Grande Lakes Waterpark, shared with The Ritz-Carlton next door, is the resort-scale option in this guide. Its Headwaters Slide Tower has three heated slides with 48-, 42- and 40-inch minimums, a quarter-mile, 670,000-gallon lazy river winds through the middle, and Splash Cove is a zero-entry area for young kids. The resort lists the JW pool and lazy river from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. and the slides from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
The trade-off is distance: it’s about 8 miles by road to Universal’s main garages and about 4.5 to 5 to Epic Universe (the resort says 2.3 miles, closer to a straight line).
- Why stay: the longest lazy river published by any hotel in this guide, heated slides and a quiet golf-course setting.
- Getting there / to the parks: the resort fee covers shuttle transportation to SeaWorld, Walt Disney World and Universal Orlando, with 24-hour advance reservations.
- Good to know: the resort fee is $55 plus tax per night and includes two floats for the JW lazy river pool. Self-parking is $42 plus tax (JW only) and valet $58 plus tax.
Best for: families who want a resort water park first and Universal or Epic Universe second. Read our JW Marriott Orlando Grande Lakes review.
Volcano Bay and Universal hotel guests: what you get
Volcano Bay is Universal’s water theme park, built around Krakatau, a 200-foot volcano, with raft rides, body slides, a wave pool and a lazy river. A hotel stay doesn’t include admission, and hotel Express doesn’t work there. What the on-site hotels do add:
- Walking paths: Universal lists paths straight to Volcano Bay from Cabana Bay, Aventura and Sapphire Falls. Loews says these paths are unavailable during the closure.
- Buses: Hard Rock, Portofino Bay, Royal Pacific and Sapphire Falls have a dedicated bus route, and Universal’s other hotels list free buses there too, except Cabana Bay and Aventura (path only).
- Early Park Admission: Universal lists up to 30 minutes of early entry at Volcano Bay from October 5 to October 25, 2026, for Universal hotel guests and some other groups, on Krakatau Aqua Coaster, Honu ika Moana, Ko’okiri Body Plunge, Waturi Wave Pool and the Kala and Tai Nui Serpentine Body Slides.
- Pool-hopping: Universal’s hotel FAQ lets guests of Hard Rock, Portofino Bay, Loews Royal Pacific Resort, Sapphire Falls, Cabana Bay and Aventura use one another’s pools. Royal Pacific’s lagoon pool has a children’s water play area but no full-size waterslide. Universal’s other hotels keep their pools for their own guests.
While Volcano Bay is closed, CoCo Key’s homepage advertises free water park admission for guests staying at a Universal Orlando Resort hotel; its online store lists a free single-day entry but doesn’t say who qualifies, so call before you go. SeaWorld’s Aquatica, toward the south end of International Drive, keeps its own seasonal schedule. Our Orlando water parks guide compares the theme-park water parks and their seasons.
Slide heights, heating and cold-weather rules
Heights and heating are listed only where the hotel publishes them; where a page is silent, ask the front desk.
| Hotel | Slide minimum | Heated water | Cold or hours rule |
|---|---|---|---|
| CoCo Key | 40 to 48 in by ride | Resort pools heated; park not stated | Lagoon pool only below 59°F; closed at 55°F |
| Universal hotels | Not published | Yes (hotel FAQ) | Slides close below 60°F, pools below 50°F |
| Westgate Lakes | Not published | 7 resort pools heated | Treasure Cove weather permitting |
| Hilton Orlando | 48 in | Main pool year-round | Slide on a limited daily schedule |
| Hyatt Regency Orlando | Not published | Grotto Pool heated | Ask for slide hours |
| JW Grande Lakes | 40, 42 or 48 in | Slides heated | Slides 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. |
Universal’s FAQ adds that the whole pool deck closes below 45°F, so a cold snap in January can shut even heated pools for a day.
Also near Universal: a smaller splash zone
Renaissance Orlando at SeaWorld, across from SeaWorld and about 6 to 6.5 road miles from Universal’s garages (3.5 to Epic Universe), has the R Aqua Zone, which Marriott lists as an outdoor water park with a water slide and a children’s pool, open 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Its Booking.com listing mentions water slides and a toddler play area, a USD 48 resort fee that covers daily shuttles to Walt Disney World, Universal and SeaWorld, and US$44 daily parking. It’s a splash zone rather than a water park.
Check rates at Renaissance Orlando at SeaWorld
Universal’s other hotels have pools, some with kids’ splash or play areas, but list no waterslide or lazy river. For more ways to stay near the parks by budget, see our best hotels near Universal Studios Orlando.

Frequently asked questions
Is there a hotel with a water park near Universal Studios?
Yes. CoCo Key Hotel and Water Resort on International Drive is about 2 to 2.7 road miles from Universal’s garages and has a 54,000-square-foot water park with 14 slides and rides; its $45-plus-tax resort fee includes four passes per room. Westgate Lakes has a wave pool and slides for $25 a day, and JW Marriott Grande Lakes, about 8 miles away, has a resort water park.
Which Universal hotel has a lazy river?
Only Universal Cabana Bay Beach Resort, whose Lazy River Courtyard pool has a winding river; Loews says tubes are sold rather than lent. Guests of Hard Rock, Portofino Bay, Royal Pacific, Sapphire Falls and Aventura can use it too, because Universal’s hotel FAQ lets those six hotels share pools.
Can you walk to Volcano Bay from a Universal hotel?
Yes, from Cabana Bay, Aventura and Sapphire Falls, which Universal lists with walking paths straight to the water park (Sapphire Falls also has a dedicated bus). Hard Rock, Portofino Bay and Royal Pacific guests take a dedicated bus. Volcano Bay closes for maintenance on October 26, 2026, with reopening planned on or before April 1, 2027, and Loews says the paths close with it.
Is Volcano Bay included with a Universal hotel stay?
No. You need a ticket that includes Volcano Bay, and the free Express Unlimited at Hard Rock, Portofino Bay and Royal Pacific doesn’t work there. Universal hotel guests do get Early Park Admission, which Universal lists at Volcano Bay for up to 30 minutes from October 5 to 25, 2026, plus free buses or walking paths.
Are the pools at Universal hotels heated in winter?
Yes. Universal’s hotel FAQ says its hotel pools are heated, but waterslides close when the temperature is below 60°F, pools below 50°F and the whole pool deck below 45°F. Off property, CoCo Key runs only its Lagoon pool below 59°F, while JW Marriott Grande Lakes says its three slides are heated.
Can you use a hotel water park near Universal without staying there?
At CoCo Key, yes: it sells water park day passes online, with prices that vary by date, and children under 36 inches get in free. Universal’s hotel pools are for registered guests under its pool-sharing rules, and Westgate Lakes lists Treasure Cove prices as guest rates, so ask before you plan a visit.
Bottom line
For a water park at your hotel near Universal, CoCo Key is the easiest answer: real slides, passes in the resort fee and a free Universal shuttle. To stay on site, Cabana Bay gives you a slide, the only Universal lazy river and a walk to Volcano Bay, and Hard Rock adds a 260-foot slide to free Express. Check Volcano Bay’s closure dates before you choose.
