Orlando hotels with EV charging are easier to find than they used to be, but the details vary. Some list a single “charging station”, a few spell out their Tesla and universal plugs, and only a handful publish what charging costs. If you are driving an electric car to Disney World or Universal, those details decide whether you wake up to a full battery.

We kept only hotels whose own website, brand page or booking engine lists EV charging on site, checked in October 2026 (archived copies are dated), with charger counts, plug types and prices where stated. We also cover chargers at Disney’s parking lots, Universal’s Epic Universe and Orlando International Airport (MCO).

Quick answer: The clearest setups are at DoubleTree by Hilton at the Entrance to Universal Orlando (six Tesla and two universal chargers), Omni Orlando Resort at ChampionsGate (six charger spaces), Caribe Royale Orlando (four stations) and Embassy Suites Lake Buena Vista South (two Tesla, one non-Tesla). Rosen Plaza publishes its price, $0.35 per kWh, and Lake Nona Wave lists free charging on direct bookings. Disney’s park lots charge $0.35 per kWh; Universal offers charging only in Epic Universe’s Prime parking.

How we chose these EV charging hotels

  • An official statement: the hotel’s own site, brand page or booking engine lists EV charging on the property. Charging apps and reviews did not count.
  • Specifics when published: charger counts, plug types and prices are quoted as stated; where a hotel gives none, we say so.
  • Area spread: Universal and International Drive, the Disney area, Kissimmee, ChampionsGate, Lake Nona and the airport.
  • Fees and distances: parking and resort fees from the same official pages, plus rounded road distances from our route checks (OSRM, no traffic) to park parking lots or toll plazas.

None of the hotel pages we read takes charger reservations, so treat hotel chargers as first come, first served.

EV charging at Disney World and Universal

Disney’s parking page lists ChargePoint stations at each theme park and at Disney Springs, first come, first served; ask a Cast Member for directions when you arrive.

LocationCharger spacesWhere
Magic Kingdom51 at the front of the Medical lot, 4 at the front of the Zurg lot

Disney’s Hollywood Studios4Front of the Mickey lot
Disney Springs13Orange and Lime garages (5th floor), Grapefruit garage (3rd floor), Watermelon lot
Coronado Springs, Riviera, Wilderness Lodge6, 2 and 2General parking near the ADA spaces

Disney charges $0.35 per kWh with a $1.50 minimum, paid by credit card or ChargePoint card, and charging stops when the battery is full. The same page lists four Level 3 (DC fast) stations in front of Cirque du Soleil in the Watermelon lot at $0.40 per kWh, with a 20-minute grace period and then $0.30 a minute until the car is moved; since both descriptions cover that lot, check the price on the charger screen.

Standard theme park parking is $35 a day, tax included, unless your hotel includes it; Disney Springs self-parking is complimentary. Among Disney’s own hotels, chargers are listed only at Coronado Springs, Riviera and Wilderness Lodge.

Universal is more limited: its parking page puts EV charging only in Epic Universe’s Prime parking, subject to availability and for an additional fee. Prime self-parking was $50 to $60 including tax, against $35 for regular parking, and the on-site hotel pages and hotel FAQ we checked do not mention chargers.

Airport charging, rental EVs and tolls

MCO’s Parking Garages A, B and C all list EV charging (rows in the Hyatt entry above), and drive-up garage parking tops out at $24 per 24 hours. The airport’s rental car page lists on-airport counters for Alamo, Avis, Budget, Dollar, Enterprise, Hertz, National, Payless, Sixt and Thrifty but says nothing about electric models, so ask your rental company about EV classes and return rules. Our Orlando airport guide covers terminals and rides.

Driving electric does not change your tolls. The Central Florida Expressway Authority lists its E-PASS and Pay By Plate rates by number of axles, its roads are cashless, and E-PASS customers save up to 50% over Pay By Plate. Renting at MCO? Visitor Toll Pass is a free hangtag, reserved in its app with a $10 deposit, that pays the lowest toll rate on Florida toll roads; it works with the rental companies above, and you must decline the rental company’s own toll program. Our Orlando toll roads guide has the 2026 rates.

How to find a charger near your hotel

The U.S. Department of Energy’s Alternative Fuels Data Center station locator covers the United States and Canada and, by default, shows available, publicly accessible stations. Check it before you book, especially if a hotel lists only one station.

DOE’s guide also decodes the wording. Level 2 adds roughly 25 miles of range per hour, fine overnight, while DC fast charging (also called Level 3) adds about 100 to 200 miles or more in 30 minutes. Every Tesla comes with a J1772 adapter, so a Tesla can use a universal Level 2 charger, but Tesla’s Destination Chargers use the J3400 (NACS) plug, which DOE says is currently found only on Tesla vehicles. Other brands should look for the universal units.

Under section 366.94(4) of the Florida Statutes, it is unlawful to stop, stand or park a vehicle that cannot use an EV charging station in a space designated for charging, a noncriminal traffic infraction. Hotels set their own time limits, such as Rosen Plaza’s one-hour grace period.

How to choose an EV-friendly Orlando hotel

  • Cost certainty: Rosen Plaza publishes $0.35 per kWh, and Lake Nona Wave lists charging as complimentary on direct bookings. Elsewhere, ask at check-in.
  • Your park plan: for Universal, walk from the DoubleTree or ride Rosen Plaza’s free shuttle. For Disney, Caribe Royale, Orlando World Center Marriott, Gaylord Palms and Omni include shuttles in their resort fees, and Homewood Suites runs free ones, so the car charges while you ride.
  • The parking total: from included (Evermore, and Lake Nona Wave on direct bookings) to $40 a day plus tax (Gaylord Palms, Orlando World Center Marriott), before Disney’s $35 park parking. Our list of Orlando hotels with free parking shows where to skip that cost.
  • The area first: no base yet? Start with our guide to where to stay in Orlando, then filter for chargers.
  • No car at all: our guide to getting around Orlando without a car covers shuttles, buses and trains.

Frequently asked questions

Does Disney World have EV charging stations?

Yes. Disney’s parking page lists ChargePoint stations at all four theme parks (four or five spaces each) and 13 at Disney Springs, first come, first served, at $0.35 per kWh with a $1.50 minimum. Disney Springs also lists four Level 3 fast chargers in the Watermelon lot at $0.40 per kWh, then $0.30 a minute after a 20-minute grace period.

Can you charge an electric car at Universal Orlando?

Only at Epic Universe: Universal’s parking page puts EV charging in Prime parking, subject to availability, for an additional fee, and Prime self-parking was $50 to $60 including tax. The Universal hotel pages we checked do not list chargers, so the DoubleTree at the Entrance to Universal (eight chargers) or Rosen Plaza (published price) are safer overnight bets.

Which Orlando hotels have free EV charging?

Few say so. Lake Nona Wave Hotel’s booking engine lists complimentary EV charging in its “Anti-Resort Fee” on direct bookings. Most hotels here publish no price; the DoubleTree bills per kilowatt-hour and Rosen Plaza charges $0.35 per kWh. Parking fees usually still apply even when charging is free, so ask at check-in.

Are there EV chargers at Orlando International Airport?

Yes. MCO lists EV charging in Parking Garage A (Level 2, Row A), Garage B (Level 2, Row P) and Garage C (Levels 3 and 5), where drive-up parking tops out at $24 per 24 hours. The Hyatt Regency inside the terminal also lists EV charging, so ask the hotel where its guests can plug in.

Do electric cars pay tolls in Orlando?

Yes. The Central Florida Expressway Authority lists its toll rates by number of axles and payment method, not by fuel type, so a two-axle EV pays the same as any car. Its roads are cashless. A transponder such as E-PASS or SunPass, or the free Visitor Toll Pass for rental cars picked up at MCO, gets you the lowest rate.

Is it illegal to park in an EV charging spot in Florida?

If your vehicle cannot charge, yes. Section 366.94(4) of the Florida Statutes makes it unlawful to stop, stand or park a vehicle that is not capable of using an electric vehicle charging station in a space designated for charging; it is a noncriminal traffic infraction. Hotels and parks can also set their own time limits or idle fees.

Bottom line

If charging is a must, pick a hotel that states its setup: the DoubleTree at the Entrance to Universal for Teslas and Universal, Caribe Royale, Embassy Suites Lake Buena Vista South or Omni near Disney, Rosen Plaza for a published price and Lake Nona Wave for free charging on direct bookings. Keep Disney’s park chargers as a backup. Rates vary by season, availability and how far ahead you book.
