The most useful EPCOT tips start with the park’s layout: EPCOT has two entrances, a main gate by Spaceship Earth and the International Gateway on the World Showcase side, and the one you use shapes your whole day. Pick the right door, ride the big four early, then save World Showcase, festival booths and the Luminous fireworks for the afternoon and evening.

We checked Disney’s official pages (the live Canadian English versions) in October 2026. Hours, festivals and ride lists change often, so confirm in the My Disney Experience app before you go.

Quick answer: On the October to early December 2026 dates we checked, Disney’s calendar listed EPCOT from 9:00 AM to 9:00 PM with Early Entry from 8:30 AM; Luminous The Symphony of Us was at 9:00 PM through November 26 and 9:15 PM from November 27. Arrive by Skyliner, boat or on foot at International Gateway if you can, ride Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind, Test Track, Frozen Ever After or Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure first, and book dining 60 days out.

EPCOT tips before you go: a planning timeline

A smooth EPCOT day starts weeks before you arrive. Disney says date-based tickets no longer need a theme park reservation (other admission types may), so the bookings that matter are meals, Lightning Lane and, for festival fans, concert dining packages.

How to get to EPCOT: two entrances

EPCOT’s main entrance faces the parking lot, the bus stops and the EPCOT Monorail station. International Gateway, the back entrance on the World Showcase side, serves the Disney Skyliner, the FriendShip boats and the walkways from the hotels around Crescent Lake.

  • Parking: at the time of writing, standard theme park parking is $35 a day and preferred parking $50, $55 or $60, tax included. One fee covers all four parks that day, and standard parking is included for Disney Resort hotel guests.
  • Monorail: Disney says the EPCOT Monorail starts 30 minutes before EPCOT opens and stops 2 hours after it closes, with express service from the Transportation and Ticket Center (TTC).
  • Skyliner: the gondolas start one hour before Early Entry begins at EPCOT or Hollywood Studios and stop 90 minutes after those parks close. Disney says the Skyliner will close for refurbishment from January 24 to 30, 2027, with free buses instead.
  • Boats: hours vary with water and weather conditions, and strollers must be folded.

The Skyliner station at International Gateway also links EPCOT with Hollywood Studios, which makes a two-park day easy; our Hollywood Studios tips cover the other end of the line. For every hotel within walking or boat distance, see our guide to hotels near EPCOT.

Early Entry and rope drop: ride the headliners first

Guests of Disney Resort hotels and 15 other hotels get 30 minutes in any Disney theme park before opening, every day of their stay, including check-in and check-out days; Disney says the benefit continues through 2027. You need valid admission plus a MagicBand, Disney MagicMobile pass or Key to the World Card.

Disney plans eight EPCOT attractions for Early Entry: Frozen Ever After, Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind, Mission: SPACE, Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure, Soarin’ (listed under its older name, Soarin’ Around the World), Spaceship Earth, Test Track and The Seas with Nemo & Friends. Disney says the line-up can change without notice.

Your first ride depends on your entrance:

  • Main entrance: Cosmic Rewind and Test Track are both in World Discovery, each about 0.3 mile on foot from Spaceship Earth by our route check. Cosmic Rewind is EPCOT’s only Single Pass ride, so riding it standby early can save you a purchase.
  • International Gateway: Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure, in the France pavilion, is about 0.3 mile (roughly 6 to 7 minutes) from the gate by our route check. Frozen Ever After, in Norway, is about half a mile on foot from either entrance, so it works as a second stop.
  • Without Early Entry: expect hotel guests to have had a 30-minute head start on all eight. Spaceship Earth, a 16-minute ride, is a calmer opener.

Extended Evening Hours

On select nights, guests of Disney Deluxe and Deluxe Villa resorts, the Walt Disney World Swan, Dolphin and Swan Reserve, and Shades of Green can stay after EPCOT closes. Disney’s EPCOT list has 10 attractions, including Cosmic Rewind, Frozen Ever After, Remy’s, Test Track, Soarin’, Spaceship Earth and Journey of Water, Inspired by Moana. On those nights the Skyliner closes one hour after the park, and in that last hour it runs only between International Gateway and Disney’s Riviera Resort.

Lightning Lane at EPCOT

Lightning Lane passes let you skip the standby line at selected rides for a fee that varies by date. At EPCOT, Multi Pass lets you take at most one pick from the top group, with the other two, or all three, from the second group.

PassWhat it covers at EPCOTHow it works
Multi Pass top groupFrozen Ever After, Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure, Test TrackUp to 1 of the first 3 picks
Multi Pass second group8 experiences, incl. Soarin’ Across America and Spaceship EarthAdd more picks during the day
Single PassGuardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic RewindSeparate paid pass, one ride

Guests of Disney Resort hotels, the Swan, Dolphin, Swan Reserve and Shades of Green can buy 7 days before check-in for their whole stay (up to 14 days); everyone else buys 3 days ahead. A simple plan: ride Cosmic Rewind standby at Early Entry if you have it, spend your top Multi Pass pick on whichever of Frozen Ever After, Remy’s or Test Track you couldn’t reach first, and add Soarin’ Across America from the second group. Our Disney Lightning Lane guide explains each pass in detail.

World Showcase tips

World Showcase circles the lagoon with pavilions from 11 countries, and it’s where most of EPCOT’s dining, shopping and festival booths are. It’s a long walk around, so plan it as one loop rather than crossing back and forth.

  • Pick one direction: walk the loop clockwise or counterclockwise and stick to it; from International Gateway, France is your first stop.
  • Use the boats: Disney lists FriendShip launch points inside EPCOT at Mexico, Germany, Canada, Morocco and International Gateway.
  • Two gentle rides: Frozen Ever After in Norway and Gran Fiesta Tour Starring The Three Caballeros, a boat ride through the Mexico pavilion, have no height limit.
  • Sit-down meals: Disney highlights Le Cellier Steakhouse (Canada), Rose & Crown Dining Room (United Kingdom), Spice Road Table (Morocco) and Biergarten Restaurant (Germany); Rose & Crown and Spice Road Table sit by the lagoon.
  • For adults: GEO-82, a lounge inside Spaceship Earth, is for guests 21 and older.

EPCOT festivals by season: 2026 and 2027 dates

EPCOT runs four festivals a year, and Disney says each is included with valid EPCOT admission (a park reservation may be required, depending on ticket type). Food and drink at the booths cost extra.

FestivalDatesWhat to expect
Food & Wine FestivalAug 27 to Nov 21, 2026Global Marketplaces, Eat to the Beat concerts
Festival of the HolidaysNov 27 to Dec 30, 2026Holiday traditions from around the world
Festival of the ArtsJan 15 to Mar 1, 2027Art displays, food studios, Broadway concerts
Flower & Garden FestivalMar 10 to May 31, 2027Topiaries, gardens, Outdoor Kitchens

Disney says 2027 offerings are subject to change; the Festival of the Arts and Flower & Garden highlights above come from its 2026 events. During Festival of the Holidays, Living with the Land becomes Living with the Land – Glimmering Greenhouses (November 27 to December 30, 2026). Going in January? Our Orlando in January guide covers that month’s weather, crowds and other 2027 events.

A simple festival plan: ride in the morning, then graze your way around World Showcase in the afternoon. For a quieter night, Disney After Hours at EPCOT is a separate-ticket event from 9:30 PM to 12:30 AM on select 2027 nights from January 21 to August 19, with entry from 7:00 PM, lower wait times at some popular attractions and snacks included.

Luminous The Symphony of Us: EPCOT’s fireworks

Luminous The Symphony of Us is EPCOT’s nighttime show of fireworks, fountains, music and lights over World Showcase Lagoon. On the dates we checked from October 8 to November 26, 2026, Disney’s calendar listed it at 9:00 PM, the same time the park closed; on the dates we checked from November 27 (the first day of Festival of the Holidays) to December 7, the last date the calendar showed, it was at 9:15 PM, after the 9:00 PM close.

  • Watch from the lagoon’s edge: the show takes place over World Showcase Lagoon, so pick a spot along the promenade well before showtime.
  • Stand near your exit: if you’re heading to the Skyliner, a boat or a Crescent Lake hotel, watch near France and International Gateway; if you drove or took the monorail, pick a spot on the side of the lagoon closest to Spaceship Earth.
  • Check your shuttle: non-Disney hotel buses keep their own schedules, so confirm the last return before the show starts.

Dining reservations, Mobile Order and snacks

Table-service bookings open 60 days ahead at about 6:00 AM Eastern, and guests of Disney Resort hotels can book their whole stay (up to 10 nights) at once. You need valid park admission to dine in the park.

  • Character meals: Garden Grill Restaurant (Chip ‘n’ Dale and friends) and Akershus Royal Banquet Hall (Disney princesses) are EPCOT’s character dining options on Disney’s park page.
  • Splurge: Space 220 Restaurant in World Discovery has its “220 miles above the Earth” views.
  • Mobile Order: order and pay in the My Disney Experience app at quick-service spots, then tap “I’m Here, Prepare My Order” when you arrive.
  • Your own food: outside food and non-alcoholic drinks are allowed if they aren’t in glass and don’t need heating or refrigeration; tell security when you enter.

Rider Switch, height limits and kids

EPCOT’s thrill rides have modest height limits, according to Disney’s attraction pages:

  • 40 inches: Test Track, Soarin’ Across America and Mission: SPACE Green Mission (the gentler one, without the spinning centrifuge).
  • 42 inches: Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind.
  • 44 inches: Mission: SPACE Orange Mission, the more intense centrifuge version.
  • Any height: Frozen Ever After, Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure, Spaceship Earth, The Seas with Nemo & Friends, Living with the Land and Journey of Water, Inspired by Moana.

Disney’s Rider Switch page lists five EPCOT attractions: Frozen Ever After, Cosmic Rewind, Mission: SPACE, Soarin’ and Test Track. Tell the Cast Member at the entrance with your whole group; one party rides while the other waits, then up to two people from the waiting party board. For every ride in all four parks, see our Disney World height requirements guide.

Hotels that make EPCOT days easier

Disney’s BoardWalk Inn, Beach Club and Yacht Club are a short stroll from International Gateway, and Riviera, Caribbean Beach, Pop Century and Art of Animation connect by Skyliner, but you book those through Disney, not Booking.com. Both hotels below are on Disney’s Early Entry list.

Walt Disney World Swan

The Swan is roughly 0.65 to 0.85 mile, about 15 to 20 minutes on foot depending on where you start, from International Gateway by our route check, along the lakeside walkways. Its water taxis run to EPCOT, Hollywood Studios and Disney’s BoardWalk about every 20 to 25 minutes, starting an hour before the parks open. You also get Extended Evening Hours, the 7-day Lightning Lane window and free standard theme park parking. At the time of writing, the resort’s FAQ listed a mandatory $50-a-day resort service package and hotel self-parking at $40 a day, each plus tax. Torn between the three towers? Drury Plaza Hotel Orlando – Disney Springs Area

Drury Plaza is the value pick, about 5.5 miles by road from EPCOT’s main parking lot. It has Early Entry, no resort fee, free hot breakfast from 6:00 to 10:00 AM and a free, first-come shuttle to all four parks. For the week of October 5, 2026, the first EPCOT departure was 7:10 AM and the last return from EPCOT’s Lane 36 left at 10:20 PM, after Luminous. At the time of writing, the hotel’s own FAQ lists self-parking at $25 a day plus tax, while the Drury Hotels brand page lists $28 a night, so confirm the rate when you book.

Frequently asked questions

Which EPCOT entrance should you use?

Use the one closest to how you arrive. Cars, buses and the EPCOT Monorail serve the main entrance near Spaceship Earth and World Discovery. The Skyliner, FriendShip boats and walkways from the BoardWalk, Beach Club, Yacht Club, Swan and Dolphin serve International Gateway on the World Showcase side, which is quicker for Remy’s and the France pavilion.

What should you ride first at EPCOT?

From the main entrance, start with Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind or Test Track in World Discovery. From International Gateway, start with Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure in France. All four headliners, including Frozen Ever After, are on Disney’s Early Entry list, so hotel guests with that perk should be at the gate when it begins (8:30 AM on the dates we checked).

What time are the EPCOT fireworks?

Disney’s calendar listed Luminous The Symphony of Us at 9:00 PM, matching a 9:00 PM park closing, on the October and November 2026 dates we checked up to November 26, then at 9:15 PM from November 27 into December. Show times can change with park hours, special events or weather, so check the calendar or the My Disney Experience app for your date, and arrive early for a lagoon-side spot.

When are the EPCOT festivals in 2026 and 2027?

Disney lists the Food & Wine Festival from August 27 to November 21, 2026, the Festival of the Holidays from November 27 to December 30, 2026, the Festival of the Arts from January 15 to March 1, 2027, and the Flower & Garden Festival from March 10 to May 31, 2027. Each is included with valid EPCOT admission.

Can you walk to EPCOT from a hotel?

Yes. Disney’s BoardWalk Inn, Beach Club and Yacht Club are a short walk from International Gateway, and the Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin connect by lakeside walkways, roughly 0.65 to 0.85 mile from the Swan by our route check. The Swan is the walkable hotel we link on Booking.com, since Disney-owned resorts are booked through Disney.

Is Lightning Lane worth it at EPCOT?

It’s less essential than at Magic Kingdom because EPCOT’s list is shorter: three top-group rides, eight others and one Single Pass ride, Cosmic Rewind. With Early Entry, you can often ride one or two headliners standby first. Without it, or with only one EPCOT day, a Multi Pass for Frozen Ever After, Remy’s or Test Track can help.

Bottom line

These EPCOT tips come down to entrances and timing: pick International Gateway if you can, ride the headliners early, save World Showcase and festival booths for later and stay for Luminous at closing. If you want to walk in and out, the Walt Disney World Swan is the easiest base on Booking.com. For more park-by-park planning, read our Magic Kingdom tips.
