Hotels near Universal Orlando with airport shuttle service are fewer than booking filters suggest: we found no hotel in the Universal and International Drive area that runs a free van to Orlando International Airport (MCO). What does exist is Universal’s SuperStar Shuttle, a paid shared ride that serves only Universal’s 11 on-site hotels. A few off-site hotels also name a paid shuttle or transfer company on their official pages.
We read Universal’s shuttle page, the airport’s ground-transportation pages and each hotel’s own site in October 2026. Below are 8 hotels with a real airport link, what the ride costs and what the hotel charges on top.
Quick answer: For a true airport shuttle, stay at a Universal hotel and book the SuperStar Shuttle: $23 per adult and $21 per child (ages 3 to 9) one way, or $39 and $36 round trip, tax included, at the time of writing. Universal Cabana Bay Beach Resort and Dockside Inn and Suites are the lower-priced stops with suites for six. Off-site, Hilton Orlando lists a paid Mears shared shuttle, while Avanti International Resort and Castle Hotel point you to paid transfer companies. For two or more travelers, also price a taxi or rideshare, which charges per vehicle.

Why hotels near Universal rarely have a free airport shuttle
The airport’s list of hotels that offer complimentary transportation to and from MCO names 24 hotels, all within about 9 miles of the terminals and most of them in the airport hotel district. None is near Universal or on International Drive, although the airport says its list is not complete. The airport’s rate table shows the hotel shuttle as “N/A” for the International Drive area. Mears Connect, the 24-hour shuttle that many Disney visitors use, serves Walt Disney World resorts and other Disney-area hotels only.
That leaves Universal’s SuperStar Shuttle for on-site guests and paid options for everyone else. If a free van matters more than location, look at the Orlando hotels with a free airport shuttle. Staying near Disney instead? Our guide to hotels near Disney World with airport shuttle covers the Mears Connect stops.
How we chose these hotels
- A verified airport link: the hotel is a stop on Universal’s SuperStar Shuttle, or its official page names a specific airport shuttle or transfer company.
- Location: every hotel is on Universal property or within about 3 miles by road of Epic Universe or Universal’s main garages.
- Park transport: seven of the eight have free transportation to Universal’s parks.
- Honest numbers: fares, fees and parking come from official pages at the time of writing. Road distances are OSRM routes from MCO Terminals A and B in light traffic; Terminal C adds about a mile.

Universal’s SuperStar Shuttle: fares and how it works
The SuperStar Shuttle is a shared ride between MCO and Universal’s on-site hotels. Universal’s travel-advisor page lists all 11 hotels, including the three next to Epic Universe, but the fine print on the same page still names only eight. All five Universal hotels below mention the shuttle on their own pages, but confirm when you book.
- Fares: adults $23 one way or $39 round trip; children 3 to 9 $21 or $36; children 2 and under ride free. Prices include tax and are listed for travel through December 31, 2026.
- Booking: book at least 24 hours before your flight. Universal’s hotel FAQ gives 1-800-823-4733 to buy the shuttle and 1-866-604-7557 (8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.) to add or change flight details. If you booked your room on Booking.com, say so when you call.
- Where to go: at Terminal A or B, collect your bags on Level 2, then find the Hotel Transportation Desk on Level 1, where a Universal representative meets flights landing from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. At Terminal C, collect bags on Level 6 and check in at the Mears Connect desk on Level 1. Guests landing before 7 a.m. or after 8 p.m. get instructions in advance.
- The ride: vehicles hold up to 25 passengers and may stop at other Universal hotels. Universal estimates about 30 minutes each way.
- Limits: there is no service to or from Orlando Sanford International Airport. If you travel with a child 5 or younger, say that you need a car seat when you give your flight details.
Our guide to getting from Orlando airport to Universal compares the SuperStar Shuttle with rideshare, taxis, rental cars and LYNX buses in more detail.
Universal hotels on the SuperStar Shuttle route
These five on-site hotels are SuperStar stops, with free transportation to the theme parks and CityWalk plus Early Park Admission (valid park ticket required; select attractions). Check-in is at 4 p.m., but Universal’s FAQ says early arrivals can check in, leave their bags with luggage services and go to the parks. After the 11 a.m. check-out, you can store bags until your shuttle.

Cabana Bay, at 6550 Adventure Way, is built for families. It has a retro 1950s and 1960s beach-motel style, two large pools, a winding river and a bowling alley. Bowling costs extra. Its Family Suites sleep up to six, with two queen beds, a sofa bed, a sliding partition and a kitchenette with a mini-fridge, a microwave and a sink (no stove is listed).
- Why stay: Suites for six at one of Universal’s lower-priced hotels, with walking paths to CityWalk, Universal Studios Florida and Islands of Adventure.
- Getting there / to the parks: About 14.5 to 17 miles from MCO, depending on the route, or roughly 30 minutes without traffic. Free shuttle buses also run to the CityWalk hub. Universal Volcano Bay, next door, is closed for maintenance until on or before April 1, 2027.

Dockside, at 7125 Universal Boulevard, is one of Universal’s lower-priced hotels and still a SuperStar stop. Its 2-bedroom suites sleep up to six, with a kitchenette, a picnic-style table and a bathroom with separate bath and vanity areas. There are two pools with sand beaches and the Pier 8 Market food court. Its sister hotel across the street, Surfside Inn and Suites, is also on the SuperStar route.
- Why stay: Two bedrooms for up to six plus Universal’s on-site perks, without the price of a hotel next to CityWalk.

- Good to know: Overnight self-parking is $26 plus tax per night. Universal does not list the kitchenette appliances. Booking.com’s description mentions a small refrigerator, a wet bar and a coffeemaker. Neither page lists a microwave or a stove.
Best for: Budget-minded families who want a suite and a fixed-price shuttle. Our Universal Endless Summer Resort guide compares Dockside and Surfside side by side.
3. Universal Terra Luna Resort

Terra Luna, at 5500 Epic Boulevard, sits next to Epic Universe. It is among the quickest SuperStar stops to reach by road: about 13 miles and roughly 25 minutes from MCO, mostly on the SR 528 toll road to the Universal Boulevard exit. Booking.com’s “9.3 mi” is closer to a straight-line figure. All 750 rooms have two queen beds for up to four people in 315 square feet, and the hotel has a zero-entry pool with a hot tub.
- Why stay: An Epic Universe base with Early Park Admission and one of the shortest airport transfers on the route.
- Getting there / to the parks: Universal lists free shuttles to all of its theme parks and CityWalk. It does not list a walking path from Terra Luna to Epic Universe, so plan on the shuttle bus for park days.
- Good to know: Overnight self-parking is $30 plus tax per night. There are no suites or kitchenettes, so a family of five needs two rooms.
Best for: Couples and families of up to four who plan several Epic Universe days. Read our Universal Terra Luna Resort review.
4. Loews Portofino Bay Hotel

Portofino Bay, at 5601 Universal Boulevard, recreates an Italian seaside village around a harbor, with water taxis to CityWalk. Besides the SuperStar Shuttle, you can book a private car from MCO through Destination MCO with the hotel concierge (fees apply). Loews says your chauffeur waits with a name sign on the second floor of the airport, next to the escalators closest to your baggage claim carousel.
- Why stay: Free Universal Express Unlimited at Universal Studios Florida and Islands of Adventure, but not at Epic Universe or Volcano Bay (valid park ticket required). Your room key works as the pass from the moment it is issued until the parks close on check-out day.
- Getting there / to the parks: About 14 to 14.5 miles from MCO, roughly 30 minutes. Water taxis and shuttle buses run to the CityWalk hub, and walking paths connect the hotel to CityWalk and the two original parks.
- Good to know: Overnight self-parking is $36 and valet $45, each plus tax per night. Loews publishes no fare for the private car, so ask for a quote that includes tolls and gratuity.
Best for: Couples and families who want Express from arrival day and a private car option. Read our Loews Portofino Bay Hotel review.
5. Loews Sapphire Falls Resort

Sapphire Falls, at 6601 Adventure Way, is a Caribbean-themed Loews hotel set around a lagoon with rock waterfalls. It has the same two airport choices as Portofino Bay: the SuperStar Shuttle, or a Destination MCO private car arranged with the concierge (fees apply). Unlike Portofino Bay, it does not include Universal Express, so compare the two rates for your dates.
- Why stay: A water taxi and shuttle buses to the CityWalk hub, plus walking paths to CityWalk and the other Universal hotels.
- Getting there / to the parks: About 14.5 to 17 miles from MCO, depending on the route, roughly 30 minutes without traffic. A walking path also leads to Volcano Bay, which is closed until on or before April 1, 2027.
- Good to know: Overnight self-parking is $36 and valet $45, each plus tax per night. Early Park Admission is included; Express is not.
Best for: Families who want water-taxi access to CityWalk and a private car option without paying for Express. Read our Loews Sapphire Falls Resort guide.

The SuperStar Shuttle also serves Universal’s six other on-site hotels. Our guide to the best hotels near Universal Studios Orlando compares them by budget.
Off-site hotels near Universal that name an airport option (paid)
None of the off-site hotels we checked runs its own airport van, but these three name a specific service on their official pages. All three are also Universal Partner Hotels. Universal Parks & Resorts Vacations sells a meet-and-greet transfer to partner hotels, run by Quick Transportation in taxi sedans or vans for up to 7 passengers. Universal’s travel-advisor pages present it only as an add-on to Universal vacation packages.
6. Hilton Orlando

Hilton Orlando, at 6001 Destination Parkway near the convention center, is the only off-site hotel here whose page names a shared airport shuttle. Hilton’s transportation page puts the airport 13 miles away and lists three ways in: a taxi, the on-site Hertz desk, or a Mears “non-exclusive” shared shuttle that also stops at other hotels, all for a fee. Mears Connect, Mears’ scheduled airport shuttle, lists only Disney-area hotels, so ask the concierge which Mears service to book and what it costs.
- Why stay: Two pools, a lazy river and a waterslide, a free Universal shuttle and Epic Universe’s parking about 2 miles away by road.
- Getting there / to the parks: About 12.5 to 13 miles from MCO, roughly 23 minutes. The Universal shuttle needs a reservation, made in person at the Universal Vacation Planning Desk in the lobby. Scheduled shuttles to Magic Kingdom and EPCOT are included in the resort charge, also with reservations.
- Good to know: The daily resort charge was $47 plus tax at the time of writing. It covers in-room Wi-Fi, the Disney shuttle, two daily I-RIDE Trolley passes and a 15% dining discount (with exclusions). Self-parking was $38 and valet $50 per night, plus tax.
Best for: Families who want a pool resort near Epic Universe and a shared airport ride. Read our Hilton Orlando review.
7. Avanti International Resort

Avanti International Resort, at 8738 International Drive, is a resort-style hotel a short walk from ICON Park. Its FAQ says the hotel does not provide airport transportation, but the front desk will arrange a taxi. The FAQ also names Platinum Transportation (407-492-8888), which runs “meet and greet” transfers for arriving guests. Platinum’s own site advertises airport transfers without fixed fares, so ask for a quote.
- Why stay: An $18 resort fee that covers self-parking, Wi-Fi and the scheduled park shuttles, including the Universal and Epic Universe shuttle.
- Getting there / to the parks: About 14 miles from MCO, roughly 25 minutes. Reserve the Universal shuttle in person, up to 24 hours ahead. SSS Luxury Transportation runs the Walt Disney World and SeaWorld shuttles, which you reserve at least 3 hours ahead. Luggage is not allowed on those shuttles.
- Good to know: The resort fee was $18 plus tax per room per night at the time of writing. Early check-in before 1 p.m. costs $25, or $35 before 11 a.m., when a room is available; if it is not, the hotel stores your luggage. The two free I-RIDE Trolley passes are for direct bookings only.
Best for: Budget-minded travelers who will pay for one airport ride and then use the free shuttle every day. See our Avanti International Resort review.
8. Castle Hotel, Autograph Collection

Castle Hotel, a boutique Marriott with white turrets at 8602 Universal Boulevard, is about 0.4 miles on foot from ICON Park. Its airport option has a published price. Marriott’s page (May 2026 copy) says the hotel does not provide shuttle service and lists Mears Transportation at $135 one way, with a reservation required. Marriott does not say whether that fare is for a shared ride or a private car, so ask when you book.
- Why stay: A stylish base near ICON Park, about 2.6 to 2.7 miles by road from the parking at Epic Universe and Universal’s main garages.
- Getting there / to the parks: About 13.5 to 14 miles from MCO, roughly 25 minutes; Marriott lists 13.6 miles. Marriott lists no theme park shuttle, so plan on a rideshare or your own car.
- Good to know: The person who checks in must be 21 or older. Self-parking was $35 and valet $45 a day at last check, and no resort fee was shown. Marriott Bonvoy benefits apply only to direct bookings.
Best for: Couples and adult groups who want an airport transfer with a published fare. Read our Castle Hotel Orlando review.
Hotels near Universal with no airport shuttle
Most other off-site hotels near Universal that we have reviewed, including those within walking distance of the parks, list no airport shuttle. The hotels in our guide to hotels near Universal with a free shuttle run park shuttles, not airport runs.
Two big International Drive hotels show a conflict worth knowing. Rosen Centre Hotel and Rosen Plaza Hotel both “strongly suggest” rideshare for the airport on their own transportation pages. Their Booking.com descriptions, however, say they offer airport and theme park transfers for a surcharge, so ask the hotel before you count on it. Both run a free daily Universal shuttle that you sign up for at the concierge desk at least 24 hours ahead.
Your options from MCO: what each airport transfer costs
| Option | Published cost (October 2026) | Where at MCO | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|
| SuperStar Shuttle | $23 adult, $21 child 3-9 one way, tax included | Level 1 desk (A and B); Mears Connect desk (C) | Universal hotel guests |
| Shared shuttle van | Per person; ask the attendant | Level 1: A19-A21, B76-B78, C200-C204 | Solo travelers off-site |
| Taxi | Metered; airport estimate $38-$45 | Level 1: A22-A25, B30-B34; Level 6 at C | Groups of up to 9 |
| Uber or Lyft | App quote, rises with demand | Level 2 at A and B; Level 6 at C | Families, late arrivals |
| Private car | Quoted per vehicle | Driver meets you at baggage claim | Door-to-door, car seats |
| LYNX Link 311 | $2 a ride, $4.50 day pass | Level 1, A38-A41 | Light packers to Epic Universe |
The taxi figure comes from the airport’s undated approximate-rate table for the International Drive area, the closest zone it lists to Universal. Taxis must run the meter, so the fare can differ. The same table lists shuttle-van fares, but they are undated and not labeled one way or round trip, so ask the attendant for the current fare. Rideshare apps also pick up on the Level 3 departures curb at Terminals A and B from 9 p.m. to 2 a.m. LYNX Link 311 stops at the Epic Universe transfer center on 14 weekday trips from the airport (13 on weekends), leaving between 7:35 a.m. and 8:55 p.m., with rides of about 32 to 44 minutes.
What the airport trip costs by party size (official fares only)
| Your party | SuperStar, round trip | Taxi, round trip (airport estimate) |
|---|---|---|
| 1 adult | $39 | $76-$90 |
| 2 adults | $78 | $76-$90 |
| 2 adults, 2 children (3-9) | $150 | $76-$90 |
| 4 adults | $156 | $76-$90 |
| 4 adults, 2 children (3-9) | $228 | $76-$90 (one cab) |
SuperStar totals are Universal’s published round-trip fares multiplied by your party, tax included. The taxi column doubles the airport’s $38 to $45 one-way estimate and excludes the tip. For one traveler, SuperStar costs less than the taxi estimate. For two adults, SuperStar and a taxi cost about the same. From three people, the airport taxi estimate is lower than SuperStar, and a taxi goes straight to your hotel. SuperStar gives you a greeter at the airport and a fixed price.
How to choose a hotel near Universal with an airport shuttle
- Count heads first. One or two travelers at a Universal hotel: book the SuperStar Shuttle. Three or more: compare a taxi or rideshare, which you pay per vehicle.
- Decide on-site or off-site. Only Universal’s own hotels get the SuperStar Shuttle and Early Park Admission. Off-site, judge the hotel on its park shuttle and fees.
- Time your flights. SuperStar greeters cover arrivals from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m., and you must book at least 24 hours ahead. Landing near midnight with tired children? A first night at an airport hotel with a free van can be calmer. Our Orlando airport guide shows which airlines use each terminal.
- Plan car seats. Florida law requires a child restraint for children 5 and younger; hired taxis and buses are exempt, but the parent is still responsible. Mention a car seat when you book SuperStar or a private car.
- Do the parking math. If you rent a car, add $26 to $36 plus tax per night at Universal hotels, or $35 to $38 at Castle Hotel and Hilton Orlando. Avanti includes self-parking in its resort fee.
Frequently asked questions
Do any hotels near Universal Orlando have a free airport shuttle?
Not among the hotels we checked. Universal’s SuperStar Shuttle is paid, and the off-site hotels near Universal point you to taxis, rideshare, paid shuttles or private cars. The airport’s list of hotels with complimentary airport transportation includes only hotels within about 9 miles of the terminals, mostly in the airport hotel district.
How much is Universal’s SuperStar Shuttle from Orlando airport?
At the time of writing, adults paid $23 one way or $39 round trip, and children 3 to 9 paid $21 or $36, tax included. Children 2 and under ride free. The fares are listed for travel through December 31, 2026, and you must book at least 24 hours before your flight.
Can I use the SuperStar Shuttle if I stay at an off-site hotel?
No. The SuperStar Shuttle runs only between Orlando International Airport and Universal’s on-site hotels. Universal Parks & Resorts Vacations presents its meet-and-greet transfer to partner hotels only as an add-on to its vacation packages. With an off-site room booked on Booking.com, plan on a taxi, rideshare, shared van or private car.
Does Mears Connect go to Universal hotels?
No. Mears Connect lists Walt Disney World resorts, the Disney Springs area hotels and some other Disney-area hotels, but no hotel near Universal. Mears says it offers private car service to hotels that are not on its list. Hilton Orlando’s page also mentions a paid Mears shared shuttle, so ask the hotel which service it means.
What is the cheapest way from Orlando airport to a hotel near Universal for a family of four?
For two adults and two children aged 3 to 9, SuperStar costs $150 round trip. The airport’s taxi estimate for the International Drive area works out to $76 to $90 round trip, plus tip. On those published numbers, a taxi costs less for a family of four and goes straight to your hotel. Rideshare apps quote their own price.
Bottom line
The honest answer to “hotels near Universal Orlando with airport shuttle” is Universal’s own hotels on the paid SuperStar Shuttle, plus a few off-site hotels that point you to a paid shuttle or car. For a family, Universal Cabana Bay Beach Resort pairs the shuttle with suites for six and free park transport. For two or more people, price a taxi or rideshare before you book the shuttle.
