The Marriott hotels near Universal Orlando that sit closest to the gates cluster just east and south of the resort, around Major Boulevard, Vineland Road and the north ends of International Drive and Universal Boulevard, 1.3 to 1.8 road miles from Universal’s garages, and five of them run free Universal shuttles. None of Universal’s own resorts is a Marriott, so this is where Bonvoy fans stay, from a renovated Courtyard with two-bedroom suites to boutique hotels near ICON Park and a resort across from SeaWorld.

We compared eight picks on the walk or drive to Universal and Epic Universe, the shuttle, breakfast, parking and fees, using Marriott’s pages (live in October 2026 or archived copies, with the month), Universal’s own pages and each hotel’s Booking.com listing. Distances are our road routes to each park’s parking toll plaza. Bonvoy points and elite perks don’t apply to Booking.com stays, and rates vary by season, availability and how far ahead you book.

Quick answer: For the shortest walk and the biggest rooms, book the Courtyard by Marriott across Universal Orlando, about a mile on foot from CityWalk, with two-bedroom suites for up to 10. For free breakfast and free parking, pick the Residence Inn (full kitchens) or the Fairfield (simple rooms and suites) a few blocks north. Hotel Landy is the stylish pick with a shuttle and no resort fee, Element and Castle Hotel are the closest drives to Epic Universe, and Renaissance Orlando at SeaWorld is the full resort with a Universal and Epic shuttle in its resort fee.

How we chose these Marriott hotels near Universal Orlando

We looked at Marriott Bonvoy hotels within about 7 road miles of Universal’s garages or Epic Universe’s lot and picked eight that pass four tests:

  • Location: a short drive, walk or shuttle ride to the Universal parks, measured on public roads with OpenStreetMap routing.
  • Verified amenities: room sizes, occupancy, pools and breakfast as listed on Marriott’s pages.
  • Value: free breakfast, parking charges and resort fees, checked against Booking.com’s price breakdown for a sample November 2026 night.
  • Transport: whether the hotel runs a Universal shuttle, and how it works.

We haven’t stayed at these hotels, and we don’t score them or quote room rates. Our best hotels near Universal Studios Orlando guide covers the on-site resorts and other brands, and if you’re splitting the trip, our guide to Marriott hotels near Disney World covers the Disney side of town.

1. Courtyard by Marriott across Universal Orlando

The newest name here is the former Holiday Inn & Suites Across From Universal Orlando, at 5916 Caravan Court, converted to a Courtyard with 390 rooms, including 134 one- and two-bedroom suites (Lodging magazine, April 2026). Our walking route to the middle of CityWalk is about 1 mile, roughly 20 to 25 minutes. Standard rooms are 351 square feet with two queens for four or a king. One-bedroom suites have 720 square feet with a sofa bed (Marriott lists four to six guests depending on the bed setup), and two-bedroom suites have 1,053 square feet, two bathrooms and room for 8 to 10.

Downstairs are The Bistro (Starbucks coffee, breakfast and dinner), The Crate 24-hour market, a game room and a 24-hour gym; the heated outdoor pool and kids’ splash pad were listed as open 6:30 a.m. to 11 p.m.

  • Why stay: the shortest walk to Universal of any Marriott here, plus real two-bedroom suites.
  • Getting there / to the parks: as a Universal Orlando Partner Hotel, it offers a free scheduled shuttle to Universal Orlando (Marriott says it is “provided courtesy of Universal Resorts”) plus a coupon book with discounts; by car it’s about 1.6 miles to Universal’s garages and 4.2 to Epic Universe’s lot.
  • Good to know: self-parking $30 a day at last check (July 2026); no free breakfast; no resort fee on Marriott’s page or Booking.com’s sample price; check-in age 21; no pets; no rollaway beds.

Best for: families of five to ten who want a suite and a walk, not a drive, to CityWalk.

2. Residence Inn by Marriott Near Universal Orlando

This all-suite Residence Inn at 5614 Major Boulevard (Booking.com lists 5616) suits longer stays: every suite has a full kitchen with a refrigerator, stovetop, microwave and dishwasher. The 938-square-foot two-bedroom suite adds a second bathroom, but Marriott still lists it for five.

How to choose a Marriott hotel near Universal

Walk, shuttle or drive?

The Courtyard, Fairfield, Residence Inn and Four Points are about 1 to 1.3 miles from CityWalk on foot, along busy roads. The partner shuttles save the walk and the parking fee but run on fixed or limited schedules, so check the first departure against park opening. If you drive, Universal’s regular self-parking is $35 a day including tax, and a same-day parking receipt gets you back in at the other location, so one fee covers Epic Universe’s lot and the main garages on the same day.

Planning Epic Universe days

Epic Universe has its own parking lot at 1001 Epic Boulevard, south of the original parks. Castle Hotel, Element, Four Points and Hotel Landy are the closest drives (about 2.6 to 3.4 miles), and only the Renaissance’s shuttle page names Epic Universe; ask the partner hotels whether their Universal shuttle stops there. Our guide to hotels near Epic Universe compares the on-site options.

Add breakfast, parking and fees before you compare

Over five nights with a car, parking alone is $0 at the Residence Inn and Fairfield, $100 at the Four Points, $120 at Element, $150 at the Courtyard and $175 at Hotel Landy or Castle Hotel. At the Renaissance, the $48 resort fee plus $44 parking adds $92 a night before tax. Add breakfast for a family where it isn’t included, and the Residence Inn, Fairfield and Element can come out ahead on total cost.

Bonvoy points, Universal perks and Booking.com

Marriott’s Bonvoy program rules treat rooms booked through online travel channels, naming Booking.com, as non-qualifying: no points, no elite benefits and no elite night credit, and several of these hotels tie free in-room internet to direct bookings by members. Universal perks are separate: its Early Park Admission terms admit Universal hotel guests by key card, while everyone else needs a ticket that states the benefit, and none of these hotels includes Universal Express. If those perks matter most, our guide to where to stay in Orlando compares on-site and off-site areas.

Frequently asked questions

Which Marriott hotel is closest to Universal Orlando?

It depends on how you go. On foot, the Courtyard by Marriott across Universal Orlando is closest, about 1 mile (20 to 25 minutes) to CityWalk by our route. By car, the Four Points by Sheraton Orlando International Drive is closest, about 1.3 miles to Universal’s garage toll plaza. The Fairfield Near Universal calls itself the closest Marriott on its own page (March 2026 capture), and it’s only slightly farther.

Do Marriott hotels near Universal have a free shuttle?

Five run free Universal shuttles: the Courtyard across Universal, Residence Inn Near Universal, Fairfield Near Universal and Hotel Landy, which call themselves Universal Partner Hotels, plus the Four Points I-Drive. Only the Four Points lists times on Marriott’s site (four morning departures, three evening returns). The Renaissance at SeaWorld includes four seats a day in its resort fee. Element and Castle Hotel list none. Reserve and confirm seats at check-in.

Which Marriott hotels near Universal include free breakfast?

Three of our eight: the Residence Inn Near Universal (hot buffet), the Fairfield Near Universal (hot breakfast, 6:30 to 9:30 a.m.) and Element Universal Blvd. (continental with hot items). Nearby, TownePlace Suites Near Universal and City Express I-Drive also list free breakfast. The Courtyard, Four Points, Hotel Landy, Castle Hotel and Renaissance sell breakfast separately, and some Booking.com rates bundle it in.

Is there a Marriott hotel near Epic Universe?

Yes. Castle Hotel, Autograph Collection is the closest drive at about 2.6 miles to Epic Universe’s parking toll plaza, followed by Element Universal Blvd. (about 3 miles), Four Points I-Drive (3.3) and Hotel Landy (3.4). Renaissance Orlando at SeaWorld, about 3.5 miles away, is the only one whose shuttle lists Epic Universe. None of these hotels is a practical walk to Epic’s entrance.

Do these Marriott hotels get Universal Early Park Admission or Express Pass?

Not with a room booking alone. Universal’s terms give Early Park Admission to its own hotel guests by key card; others need a ticket that states the benefit. None of these Marriott hotels includes Universal Express Pass. What the partner hotels do offer is free shuttles, discounts or coupon books and, at Hotel Landy, a lobby Vacation Planning Center.

Can I earn Marriott Bonvoy points if I book on Booking.com?

No. Marriott’s Bonvoy program rules treat rooms booked through online travel channels, including Booking.com, as non-qualifying rates that earn no points or miles, carry no elite benefits and add no elite night credit. Resort fees and parking charges apply either way. Compare the full total on both sites, including fees and taxes, before deciding whether the points are worth more than the price difference.

Bottom line

The best Marriott hotels near Universal Orlando depend on whether you want to walk, ride or drive. Families who need space should start with the Courtyard’s two-bedroom suites, budget trips suit the Residence Inn or Fairfield with free breakfast and parking, Hotel Landy and Castle Hotel suit couples, and the Renaissance is the resort pick for SeaWorld and Epic Universe days. Confirm shuttles and fees, then check your dates for Courtyard by Marriott across Universal Orlando on Booking.com.
