The hotels near Animal Kingdom sit on Walt Disney World’s quieter southwest side, where Disney’s own Animal Kingdom Lodge, Coronado Springs and All-Star resorts share the map with a handful of off-site hotels about 4 to 8 miles from the park’s parking area by road. Staying here turns the morning run to Avatar Flight of Passage or Expedition Everest into a short drive or bus ride.

Disney-owned resorts come with perks such as Early Theme Park Entry but aren’t sold on Booking.com. The seven off-site hotels that follow, from Flamingo Crossings at Disney’s western entrance to US-192 and Celebration, are grouped by area and checked for road distance, shuttles, parking and resort fees. For the rest of the resort, see our hub of the best hotels near Disney World.

Quick answer: For the shortest drive, Margaritaville and Embassy Suites Sunset Walk, off US-192, are about 4 to 4.5 miles by road from the Animal Kingdom parking area and include Island H2O Water Park access with their resort charges through October 31, 2026. For free hot breakfast and no listed resort fee, book SpringHill Suites or Residence Inn at Flamingo Crossings, about 5 miles away, with free reservation-only Disney shuttles. Choose The Grove for two- and three-bedroom condos, Gaylord Palms for a full resort, or Delta Hotels Orlando Celebration for pools and a free Disney shuttle. If Disney perks matter most, book Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge, just west of the park.

Where Animal Kingdom is, and what “near” really means

Disney’s Animal Kingdom is in the southwest corner of Walt Disney World, in what Disney calls the Animal Kingdom Resort Area. Off-site, three approaches matter: Western Way, which links the park area with State Road 429 and Disney’s western entrance at Flamingo Crossings; US-192 to the south, past Margaritaville and Sunset Walk; and World Drive or Osceola Parkway from the east, toward Celebration and Kissimmee.

Disney’s road network winds around the property, so straight-line figures mislead: one hotel below lists Animal Kingdom at 1.7 miles, but by road it’s about 4.5. Our distances are road routes to the Animal Kingdom parking lot entrance, just past the toll plaza, measured with OSRM (OpenStreetMap routing) in October 2026 on public roads only, rounded and without traffic. Shorter routes on the map use Disney’s private backstage roads, which guests can’t drive.

If you drive, add Disney’s theme park parking fee, $35 a day for standard parking at the time of writing (details in the FAQ below).

Disney resorts closest to Animal Kingdom

Disney groups five resort hotels in its Animal Kingdom Resort Area: Animal Kingdom Lodge (with the Animal Kingdom Villas at Jambo House and Kidani Village), Coronado Springs and the three All-Star resorts. Disney sells them directly, so they’re not on Booking.com.

Disney describes a horseshoe-shaped lodge inspired by an African kraal, overlooking four savannas home to more than 200 hoofed animals and birds, and you can book savanna-view rooms. Rooms and suites sleep up to four adults (eight with club-level service), and the villas at Jambo House and Kidani Village run from studios to three-bedroom villas for up to 12, the larger ones with full kitchens and a washer and dryer. Disney’s planning blog highlights Jiko, the Boma buffet and Sanaa at Kidani Village.

Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort

Coronado Springs sits on Lago Dorado lake. Its Gran Destino Tower has more than 500 rooms, including 50 suites, plus the rooftop Toledo restaurant, and the Dig Site pool is built around a 50-foot Mayan pyramid. Valet parking costs $42 plus tax per night here, as at Disney’s Deluxe resorts.

Disney’s All-Star Sports, Music and Movies resorts

The three All-Star resorts have oversized themed icons, food courts and two pools each, from the surfboard-lined pool at Sports to the guitar-shaped pool at Music. Rooms sleep up to four adults; All-Star Music adds Family Suites for up to six.

What a Disney Resort hotel gets you:

  • Early Theme Park Entry: 30 minutes before regular opening at every Disney theme park, every day of your stay. At Animal Kingdom, Disney lists Avatar Flight of Passage, Expedition Everest, Na’vi River Journey and Zootopia: Better Zoogether! among the attractions planned to operate early.
  • Free buses: resort buses to the parks start 45 minutes before opening and run until an hour after closing.
  • Free parking: overnight self-parking is free, and standard theme park parking is included during your stay.
  • Extended Evening Hours: for Deluxe and Deluxe Villa guests, including Animal Kingdom Lodge and both villa sections, on select nights at select parks.

None of the off-site hotels below is on Disney’s Early Theme Park Entry list. If that head start matters, see our list of non-Disney hotels with Early Theme Park Entry, and weigh the cost with our guide to whether a Disney resort is worth it.

How we chose the off-site hotels

We kept non-Disney hotels within about 8 miles of the Animal Kingdom parking area by road whose official pages describe a Walt Disney World shuttle, then compared:

  • Location: measured road distance, not “minutes from Disney” claims.
  • Verified amenities: rooms, kitchens, pools and breakfast, from hotel sites and Disney’s Good Neighbor Hotel listings.
  • Value: what’s included and what costs extra (resort fees, parking, pets).
  • Transport: how each Disney shuttle is booked and paid for.

Marriott and Hilton block direct access, so we read archived copies of their official pages and give the capture month; Disney’s site redirected us to its Brazilian Portuguese version, so we also checked archived copies of its US English pages from 2026. We don’t publish scores. Rates vary by season, availability and how far ahead you book.

Large pool, thatched-roof bar and colorful suite buildings at Embassy Suites Orlando Sunset Walk

This all-suite Hilton at 3151 Sunset Walk Drive in Kissimmee sits in the Sunset Walk dining and entertainment district off US-192, beside Margaritaville. Disney’s Good Neighbor listing describes 276 studios and one- and two-bedroom suites, a free cooked-to-order breakfast and an outdoor pool; Hilton adds a complimentary evening reception. Hilton lists Animal Kingdom at 1.7 miles, apparently a straight-line figure; by road it’s about 4.5 miles, around 11 minutes, via US-192, Sherberth Road and Osceola Parkway.

  • Why stay: suites, a made-to-order breakfast and Sunset Walk restaurants a short stroll away.

  • Good to know: the resort charge covers Island H2O access (its 2026 season ends October 31), internet and park transportation, but Hilton didn’t state the amount. Self-parking was $15 a day in February 2026, though Hilton’s August 2025 hotel information page listed it as complimentary, so confirm. Pets up to 45 pounds for a $125 non-refundable fee.

Aerial view of lagoon-style pools and hotel buildings beside a lake, Margaritaville Resort Orlando

Margaritaville, at 8000 Fins Up Circle, combines a 265-room hotel, rentable cottages with one to eight bedrooms, three pools and a hot tub, with Sunset Walk next door. With the paid full resort fee, guests get Island H2O Water Park admission every day of their stay through October 31, 2026, the end of the park’s season. The Animal Kingdom parking area is about 4 miles by road, roughly 11 minutes, via US-192, Sherberth Road and Osceola Parkway. Our Margaritaville Resort Orlando review compares rooms and cottages.

The resort’s page may still show its January 7 schedule (9:05 AM, back 5:15 PM). Strollers aren’t allowed on board.
  • Good to know: at the time of writing, the resort fee is $48 plus tax per room, per night. The resort’s FAQ lists self-parking at $20 plus tax and valet at $45 plus tax per night, but Disney’s Good Neighbor listing calls self-parking complimentary, so confirm. Minimum check-in age 21.

Curved outdoor pool with yellow umbrellas and palm trees at Delta Hotels Orlando Celebration

Delta Hotels Orlando Celebration, at 2900 Parkway Boulevard in Kissimmee, sits across the street from the town of Celebration on 20 acres of gardens. Disney’s Good Neighbor listing counts 718 rooms and two outdoor pools, and Marriott adds a water slide, the Rum Shack tiki bar and a hot breakfast buffet at The Pointe. The Animal Kingdom parking area is about 5 miles by road, roughly 12 minutes via US-192, World Drive and Osceola Parkway. How to choose a hotel near Animal Kingdom

  • Want Disney perks? Book Animal Kingdom Lodge, Coronado Springs or an All-Star resort for Early Theme Park Entry and free buses.
  • Want the shortest drive? Margaritaville, Embassy Suites Sunset Walk and Gaylord Palms are about 4 to 4.5 miles from the Animal Kingdom lot by road; the Flamingo Crossings hotels, about 5 miles away, add free breakfast with no resort fee listed.
  • Need space? The Grove’s condos sleep up to eight, Residence Inn has two-bedroom suites for six, and Margaritaville’s cottages go up to eight bedrooms.
  • Want a water park? Gaylord Palms and The Grove have their own; Island H2O, included at Margaritaville and Embassy Suites, ends its 2026 season on October 31.

Frequently asked questions

What hotels are closest to Disney’s Animal Kingdom?

Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge and its villas sit just west of the park, and Coronado Springs and the three All-Star resorts are also in Disney’s Animal Kingdom Resort Area, linked by Disney buses. Off-site, Margaritaville and Embassy Suites Sunset Walk, off US-192, are closest by road, about 4 to 4.5 miles from the parking area, followed by Gaylord Palms and the Flamingo Crossings hotels, about 4.5 and 5 miles away.

Do off-site hotels near Animal Kingdom get Early Theme Park Entry?

None of the off-site hotels in this guide do. Disney limits its 30-minute Early Theme Park Entry to Disney Resort hotels and a short list of partner hotels, such as the Swan, Dolphin and Swan Reserve, Four Seasons and several hotels around Disney Springs and Bonnet Creek. A Good Neighbor or Gateway label means a hotel shuttle and ticket help, not Disney’s resort perks.

How much does it cost to park at Animal Kingdom?

Disney lists standard theme park parking at $35 a day and preferred parking at $50, $55 or $60 depending on the date, with taxes included. One payment works at all four theme parks that day, but a space isn’t guaranteed if you leave and return. Parking is included for Disney Resort hotel guests; off-site guests pay Disney’s fee on top of any hotel parking charge.

How do you get from Animal Kingdom Lodge to Animal Kingdom?

Take Disney’s complimentary resort bus. Disney says buses between its resort hotels and theme parks start 45 minutes before park opening and run until an hour after closing. Guests at Coronado Springs and the All-Star resorts use the same system. If you’d rather drive, standard theme park parking is included for Disney Resort hotel guests during their stay.

Is Flamingo Crossings close to Animal Kingdom?

Fairly close. The Flamingo Crossings Town Center hotels, at Disney’s western entrance off State Road 429, are about 5 miles from the Animal Kingdom parking area by road, roughly 12 minutes without traffic, because guests must loop around via Buena Vista Drive and Osceola Parkway. SpringHill Suites and Residence Inn both include a free hot breakfast and run free, reservation-only Disney shuttles, and the Town Center has a Target, Starbucks and casual restaurants.

Do hotel shuttles go to Animal Kingdom?

Many do, but on fixed, limited schedules. Margaritaville’s shuttle operator listed one Animal Kingdom departure at 9:15 AM and a 5:45 PM return for late October and mid-November 2026, The Grove’s 7:25 AM bus drops off there but returns only from EPCOT and Hollywood Studios, and Gaylord Palms serves all four Disney theme parks. Ask for current times before you book, and plan to drive for an early or late park day.

Bottom line

For easy Animal Kingdom mornings without Disney prices, book SpringHill Suites or Residence Inn at Flamingo Crossings, about 5 miles from the parking area with breakfast and a free shuttle included. Choose Margaritaville or Embassy Suites Sunset Walk for the shortest drive and a water park through October, The Grove for condo space, Gaylord Palms for a full resort, or Delta Hotels Orlando Celebration for big pools and a free Disney shuttle. If Early Theme Park Entry matters most, stay at Animal Kingdom Lodge or another Disney resort in the area.
