Orange Lake Resort is a sprawling villa resort on US-192 on the west side of Walt Disney World, and it suits big families and groups who will drive, want a kitchen and plan to spend real time at the pools. Its full name is Holiday Inn Club Vacations at Orange Lake Resort, and it’s a timeshare company’s flagship, which shapes fees, room assignments and sales offers.

We checked the resort’s pages and FAQ, its IHG listing and Disney’s perk rules in October 2026, and measured road distances to the parks. Here’s what it costs beyond the room rate.

Quick answer: Book Orange Lake Resort if you want a one- to four-bedroom villa, a 1,200-foot lazy river and golf on site, and you’ll have a car. Budget for the $45-per-night resort fee (it covers parking for two vehicles, Wi-Fi and the waterslides) plus a $115 deposit, at the time of writing. Skip it if you need a free park shuttle or Disney perks: neither comes with the stay.

Orange Lake Resort at a glance

  • Area and address: 8505 W. Irlo Bronson Memorial Hwy (US-192), 34747, west of Walt Disney World, split into West, North, East and River Island villages.
  • Distances: about 5 road miles to Animal Kingdom parking, about 10 to Magic Kingdom’s lot and about 18 to Universal.
  • Rooms and who they sleep: 2,478 units, from 430-square-foot studios (up to 5 guests) to four-bedroom villas (up to 16).
  • Pools and water features: seven outdoor pools heated year-round, a 1,200-foot lazy river and waterslides.
  • Breakfast and restaurants: breakfast isn’t included; Breezes serves it daily, and there’s a steakhouse, a pizzeria that delivers and pool bars.
  • Parking: included in the resort fee, two vehicles per reservation, RVs and trailers covered.
  • Resort fee: $45 per accommodation per night plus a $115 deposit per stay, at the time of writing; rates also exclude 12.5% tax.
  • Park perks: no Disney Early Theme Park Entry and no complimentary theme park shuttle.
  • Best for: multigenerational groups and families with a car who want villa space, pools and golf.

Location and distances to the parks

The resort’s FAQ says Orange Lake shares a border with Disney’s Animal Kingdom, and its attractions list puts the Disney theme parks 3.1 miles away. The drive to each park’s parking lot is longer. We ran OSRM routes from the resort’s map point; times assume no traffic, and your village and lot entrance shift them a little.

The FAQ’s “about a 10-minute drive” to the Magic Kingdom entrance looks optimistic, since you park at the Transportation and Ticket Center and still ride the monorail or ferry. Animal Kingdom and Hollywood Studios are the easy drives. If Animal Kingdom is your main park, also see our guide to hotels near Animal Kingdom.

Villages and rooms

The resort puts the whole property at 1,100 acres, while IHG’s listing says 1,450. River Island is the newest village, 12 acres built around the lazy river. The FAQ says River Island must be booked specifically; paid upgrades into it exist, but the resort says they’re rarely available.

The studio has two queen beds and a sleeper sofa, and one-bedrooms pair a king with a sleeper sofa. Standard two-bedroom villas add a second bedroom with two queens, plus a washer and dryer and a spa tub. Three-bedroom pages say “sleeps up to 12,” but the resort’s East and North Village unit descriptions say 11, so confirm if you’re 11 or 12. Four-bedroom villas, only in River Island, list two kings, three queens and two sleeper sofas.

Clubhouse rooms have a kitchenette with a stovetop, microwave and mini-fridge. The studio’s description also says kitchenette, but its amenity list says “equipped kitchen,” so confirm if you’ll cook. Studios get washer and dryer access rather than an in-room machine. River Island’s Signature Collection units add an espresso machine, a personal concierge and a gated pool deck. To compare big units elsewhere, see our guide to 2- and 3-bedroom suites near Disney World.

At the time of writing, the resort’s website says enhancements are underway in a limited area of the Main Clubhouse. All amenities remain open, but guests staying there may notice daytime construction.

Pools, lazy river and recreation

The resort counts seven outdoor pools in four areas, and its FAQ says all are heated year-round to an average of 82°F.

  • River Island: the 1,200-foot lazy river, which connects to a pool at each end, plus a zero-entry pool, two hot tubs and two waterslides for riders 48 inches and taller. Open 7 a.m. to 10 p.m.; the slides run from 10 a.m. to 5 or 7 p.m. (one seasonally).
  • Splash Lagoon (North Village): the pick for little kids, with a wading pool up to 4 feet 3 inches deep, an interactive fountain and a slide. In October 2026 the resort’s website warned that the main pool at Splash Lagoon was partially closed for renovations, so check before you plan a pool day there.
  • Water’s Edge Beach Club (West Village): two pools, including the Stage Pool with activities like bingo, open until 11 p.m.
  • East Village: two quieter pools near the fitness center.

The lazy river is covered by the resort fee, but tubes aren’t. At the time of writing, the pool page lists all-day tubes for $9 at Island Traders or Island Golf, while the main page names Splash Shack or Island Golf, so ask on arrival. Bring towels from your villa. Cabanas cost extra (the price varies by season), and the resort’s main page counts 39 while its pool page says 19.

Golf, the lake and dry-land fun

Golfers get two 18-hole and two 9-hole courses. The Legends, an Arnold Palmer Signature design in East Village, is the featured course; The Reserve and the 9-hole Crane’s Bend are in West Village; and Legends Walk is a lighted par-3 course in North Village. There’s also a Toptracer range and a golf academy. The courses are open to the public.

On the lake, Luxe Watersports rents jet skis (drivers 16 and older), pontoon boats, kayaks and paddleboards. On land you’ll find two 36-hole mini golf courses, three arcades, a rock wall, a playground and activities such as karaoke and bingo.

Dining and breakfast

Breakfast isn’t included. Use your villa kitchen or go to Breezes Restaurant & Bar in West Village, which serves breakfast from 8 to 11 a.m. daily. The Marketplace sells coffee, food to go and sundries.

  • Stone & Current (River Island): the new steak and seafood restaurant, dinner 5 to 10 p.m., weekend brunch 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., resort casual (no swimwear or flip-flops).
  • Paisan Pizzeria (North Village): pizza, wings and salads from 11 a.m., with delivery to your door until 10:30 p.m.
  • Casual and poolside: Tradewinds Bar & Grill with nightly entertainment, Anchors, BBQ Shack, Breezy Treats, The Palmer Lounge and the River Island pool bars.

Hours were current at the time of writing and change by season.

Orange Lake Resort parking, resort fee and deposit

The FAQ says rates don’t include the $45-per-night resort fee or 12.5% tax, and adds a $115 deposit per stay. The fee is charged per accommodation, so two villas mean two fees. It covers Wi-Fi, parking, RV and trailer parking, boarding pass printing, the internal shuttle, in-room safes, water aerobics, fitness centers, sports courts, the lazy river, barbecue grills and the waterslides. Tubes, cabanas, golf and lake rentals are extra.

Guests self-park, with a two-vehicle maximum per reservation. IHG’s listing calls parking “complimentary,” but the resort’s FAQ says it’s included in the resort fee, so treat it as prepaid. That’s why it carries a caveat in our guide to Orlando hotels with free parking.

Check-in is 4 p.m., check-out is 10 a.m., and IHG lists a minimum check-in age of 21. Pets aren’t allowed (service animals are), and the FAQ warns of a $500 cleaning fee for violations.

Transport to the theme parks

Plan on driving. IHG’s FAQ says there’s no complimentary local area shuttle. The resort’s shuttle is an internal loop with 22 stops, running about every 20 minutes from 8 a.m. to midnight between the villages.

At Disney, standard theme park parking was $35 a day including tax at last check, and one payment covers all four parks that day. Universal’s standard parking was also $35 including tax at last check. Rideshare is the alternative; fares vary with demand.

No Disney perks come with the stay: Orange Lake isn’t on Disney’s Early Theme Park Entry list. The “Holiday Inn Orlando” on that list is a different hotel.

Amenities: fitness, Wi-Fi and what’s missing

There are three fitness centers, plus courts for basketball, tennis, racquetball, pickleball and volleyball. Wi-Fi is included in the resort fee, and you can rent a golf cart at the West Village Bellstand. We found no spa, and while IHG mentions a kids’ center, the resort describes no supervised kids’ club.

The timeshare side

Orange Lake is a working timeshare resort. The brand’s website footer says its material is used to solicit timeshare sales, and its discounted Orlando packages require a two-hour sales presentation during your stay. We found no official statement that a regular room-only booking requires one, so if you’re invited to a tour, check your booking’s terms first.

The Holiday Inn name is licensed: the brand says its resorts are independently owned and operated, not by IHG, although IHG lists the resort on its site.

Who Orange Lake Resort suits

It fits multigenerational trips, families with small children who want a shallow pool and a separate bedroom for naps, golfers, and groups arriving in two cars. It’s a weaker fit if you won’t have a car, want Disney perks or prefer a compact hotel with a spa. For other styles, see our list of the best family-friendly hotels in Orlando.

Pros

  • Apartment-style villas up to four bedrooms, most with a washer and dryer.
  • A 1,200-foot lazy river, seven heated pools and a shallow kids’ pool.
  • Parking for two vehicles, RVs and trailers covered by the resort fee.
  • Four golf courses, two mini golf courses and lake rentals on site.
  • About 15 minutes by road to Animal Kingdom parking, without traffic.

Limitations to know

  • A $45 nightly resort fee plus a $115 deposit, at the time of writing.
  • No complimentary theme park shuttle and no Early Theme Park Entry.
  • Early 10 a.m. check-out and 4 p.m. check-in.
  • Lazy river tubes cost extra, and River Island must be booked specifically.
  • A huge property, so other villages can mean the shuttle or your car.
  • Timeshare sales are part of the business.

What to check before you book

  • Village and unit: confirm River Island or another village, and studio, Clubhouse room or villa.
  • Kitchen and beds: Clubhouse rooms and some one-bedrooms have kitchenettes, studio listings conflict (kitchenette or kitchen), and three-bedrooms are listed for 11 or 12.
  • Fees: see whether your Booking.com total shows the resort fee as payable at the property, and ask when the $115 deposit is charged and whether and when it’s refunded, since the FAQ doesn’t say.
  • Resident offers: Florida and Georgia residents may see resort-fee waivers or discounts on the brand and IHG sites.
  • Construction: ask whether your building is near the Main Clubhouse work.

Frequently asked questions

How much is the resort fee at Orange Lake Resort?

At the time of writing, the resort’s FAQ lists a $45 resort fee per accommodation, per night, plus a $115 deposit per stay, and rates exclude 12.5% tax. The fee covers parking for up to two vehicles, Wi-Fi, the lazy river, waterslides, fitness centers and the internal shuttle. Tubes, cabanas and golf cost extra, so confirm before you book.

How far is Orange Lake Resort from Disney World?

The resort lists the Disney theme parks 3.1 miles away and says it borders Disney’s Animal Kingdom. By road, OSRM gives about 5 miles (roughly 15 minutes) to Animal Kingdom parking and about 10 miles (roughly 20 minutes) to Magic Kingdom’s Transportation and Ticket Center, without traffic. Hollywood Studios and EPCOT fall in between.

Does Orange Lake Resort have a shuttle to Disney?

No complimentary theme park shuttle is offered. IHG’s FAQ says there’s no complimentary local area shuttle, and the resort shuttle only loops inside the property, with 22 stops across the four villages from 8 a.m. to midnight. Most guests drive; standard parking at Disney’s theme parks was $35 a day, tax included, at last check.

Do you have to attend a timeshare presentation at Orange Lake Resort?

The brand’s discounted Orlando vacation packages require a two-hour timeshare sales presentation during your stay. We found no official statement that a regular room-only reservation, such as one made on Booking.com, requires one. Because the resort is an active timeshare sales site, check the terms of your own booking before agreeing to a tour.

Can you request River Island at Orange Lake Resort?

Not as a free request. The resort’s FAQ says River Island must be booked specifically. You can pay for an upgrade if one is available, but the resort says that rarely happens because of demand. If the lazy river is your main reason for coming, book a River Island unit from the start.

Are the pools heated at Orange Lake Resort?

Yes. The resort’s FAQ says all of its pools are heated year-round to an average of 82°F. Most pool areas open from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m., and Water’s Edge Beach Club stays open until 11 p.m. River Island’s waterslides keep shorter hours and require riders to be at least 48 inches tall.

Bottom line

Orange Lake Resort makes sense when you want villa space, a long lazy river and golf in one gated resort and you’re happy to drive to the parks. Factor in the $45 nightly resort fee and the $115 deposit, book River Island directly if the river matters most, and keep the timeshare context in mind. Rates vary by season, availability and how far ahead you book.
