The cheap hotels near Universal Studios Orlando that save you the most are the ones that strip out the add-ons: no resort fee, free or capped parking, a free breakfast and a free scheduled shuttle to the parks. All 14 picks sit within about 4 road miles of Universal’s parking garages, most within 2, and we checked every fee, shuttle rule and breakfast policy on the hotels’ own pages in October 2026.

Two things matter more than the headline rate: parking, because Universal charged $35 a day, tax included, at its garages at last check, so a shuttle you actually use is worth real money; and the fine print, because a $45 resort fee or $26-a-night hotel parking can turn a cheap rate into an average one. The table below puts every add-on side by side.

We don’t quote room rates, which change daily. For the whole area, including the three hotels with free Express, see our guide to the best hotels near Universal Studios Orlando.

Quick answer: For the lowest add-on costs off-site, book the Rosen Inn Closest to Universal (no resort fee, $10-a-night parking capped at $50, free Universal and Epic Universe shuttles) or the Holiday Inn Express & Suites Nearest Universal Orlando (free hot breakfast, free parking, free shuttle, no resort fee). Drury Inn & Suites adds a free evening Kickback with drinks. For Early Park Admission, Endless Summer is Universal’s lowest price level and Cabana Bay adds walking paths.

How we chose these cheap hotels near Universal Studios Orlando

No review scores, star ratings or paid placements. Every hotel had to pass four tests:

  • Location: within about 4 road miles of Universal’s parking garages by OSRM routing on OpenStreetMap data; hotels’ own figures are often shorter.
  • Verified add-ons: resort fee, parking, breakfast and shuttle rules come from each hotel’s official page, live or a dated archived copy where Hyatt, IHG, Best Western and Choice block direct access.
  • Transport: a free or fee-included Universal shuttle, a realistic walk, or Universal’s own buses. The off-site shuttles run on schedules and need reservations, and none lists Early Park Admission runs.
  • Value: budget and mid-range brands where the extras are free or capped. Rates vary by season, availability and how far ahead you book.

Fees were checked in October 2026 and can change; Orange County adds 12.5% hotel tax to rates and resort fees.

Road miles below are OSRM routes to the toll plazas at Universal’s parking garages and at Epic Universe’s guest parking; walks are foot routes to the middle of CityWalk at about 2.8 mph.

1. Rosen Inn Closest to Universal

This 315-room Rosen Inn at 6327 International Drive has the fewest strings attached: its pages say no resort fee, free Wi-Fi, and gated self-parking at $10 per car per night, tax included, capped at five nights ($50) per stay. Every room has a mini-fridge, microwave, coffee maker and safe. The hotel quotes 1.1 miles to Universal; by road it’s about 1.5 miles to the garage toll plaza and 3.7 miles to Epic Universe’s. There’s one seasonally heated pool, a game room and a paid breakfast buffet where children 5 and under eat free with a paying adult.

  • Why stay: no resort fee, cheap capped parking and a free scheduled shuttle keep the real nightly cost close to the rate you see.
  • Getting there / to the parks: free scheduled shuttles to Universal, Epic Universe, SeaWorld and Aquatica (the last two via a transfer at Universal), reserved in person at the lobby Vacation Planning Center from a day ahead, first come, first served. They don’t run for special events or Early Park Admission; Disney shuttles cost extra.
  • Good to know: double rooms sleep up to five, kings three. Up to two dogs cost $15 plus tax per dog per night. Check-in is 4 p.m. See our Rosen Inn comparison.

Best for: Universal and Epic Universe trips on a tight budget, with or without a car.

This IHG hotel at 5605 Major Boulevard has the clearest all-in deal near Universal. Rooms have a mini fridge, microwave and safe; suites add a living area with a sleeper sofa, and there’s a heated outdoor pool. By road it’s about 1.7 miles to Universal’s garage toll plaza; IHG calls the parks walkable, and our foot route to the middle of CityWalk came to about 1.3 miles, roughly 28 minutes across Kirkman Road.

  • Why stay: breakfast, parking and park transport are all included, with no resort fee.
  • Getting there / to the parks: the free scheduled shuttle serves every Universal park, Epic Universe included; reserve seats at the Universal Vacation Planning Center in the lobby. Epic Universe’s toll plaza is about 4.8 miles by road.

3. Drury Inn & Suites near Universal Orlando Resort

If included food is the priority, Drury’s 238-room hotel at 7301 West Sand Lake Road offers the most: a free hot breakfast (6 to 9:30 a.m. weekdays, 7 to 10 a.m. weekends), then the free 5:30 Kickback: hot food plus beer, wine, mixed drinks and soft drinks from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Parking and Wi-Fi are free. Rooms come as kings, double queens and two-room suites with a sofa sleeper, all with a microwave and refrigerator, plus an outdoor pool and whirlpool. • Why stay: two meals a day, parking, Wi-Fi and a free shuttle for the room rate.
  • Getting there / to the parks: free scheduled shuttles to all the Universal parks, Epic Universe included; reserve at the Universal Ticket Center in the lobby.

4. La Quinta Inn & Suites by Wyndham Orlando Universal area

At 5621 Major Boulevard, near the Holiday Inn Express, this La Quinta keeps things simple. Wyndham’s page lists a free Bright Side Breakfast of eggs, waffles and more, free parking, an outdoor pool, pet-friendly rooms with a mini-refrigerator, microwave and coffee maker, and a “complimentary local area shuttle”. Wyndham puts Universal Studios Florida a mile away; by road it’s about 1.7 miles to the garage toll plaza, the walk to the middle of CityWalk is about 1.4 miles (roughly half an hour), and Epic Universe’s toll plaza is about 4.8 miles.

  • Why stay: free breakfast and free parking a few minutes from the garages, usually at La Quinta prices.
  • Getting there / to the parks: Wyndham’s page says only “local area shuttle” with no schedule, while the Booking.com listing promises a free Universal shuttle; ask the hotel for current times and whether it serves Epic Universe.
  • Good to know: Wyndham lists free Wi-Fi for Wyndham Rewards members, so check whether it’s in your rate. The pet fee wasn’t published on the page we checked; confirm it with the hotel.

Best for: drivers who want a cheap, no-fuss base with breakfast included.

5. Best Western Plus Universal Inn

At 5618 Vineland Road, a block north of Major Boulevard, this renovated Best Western Plus lists free breakfast, free parking, an outdoor pool and a fitness center on its page (archived May 2026), plus a local shuttle described as “transportation to Universal only”. The page still calls Epic Universe “soon-to-be-open”, so treat its distances with care. Our road route to the garage toll plaza is about 1.7 miles, the walk to the middle of CityWalk about 1.2 miles (26 minutes), and Epic Universe’s toll plaza about 4.6 miles.

  • Why stay: free breakfast, free parking and a Universal shuttle at budget prices, in renovated rooms.
  • Getting there / to the parks: the page doesn’t call the shuttle free (the Booking.com listing does), so ask about cost, times and reservations. No Epic Universe, SeaWorld or Disney shuttle is listed.
  • Good to know: the listing describes the breakfast as both “free” and “continental”, so expect a lighter spread than at the Holiday Inn Express. Pets are not accepted. Check-in is 3 p.m., check-out 11 a.m.

Best for: couples and small families chasing the lowest total cost who don’t need a hot breakfast.

6. Comfort Suites Near Universal Orlando Resort

This all-suite Choice hotel at 5617 Major Boulevard sits between the Holiday Inn Express and La Quinta, about 1.6 miles by road from Universal’s garage toll plaza. Choice’s page (archived January 2026) calls it a Universal Partner Hotel with “scheduled shuttle service to Universal Studios Florida”, a hot breakfast each morning, free parking, an outdoor pool and an outdoor whirlpool. The walk to the middle of CityWalk is about 1.4 miles, roughly 30 minutes, and Epic Universe’s toll plaza is about 4.5 miles by road.

  • Why stay: suites with free hot breakfast and free parking.
  • Getting there / to the parks: a free scheduled Universal shuttle, first come, first served with advance registration; the page gives no times, so confirm them and whether it covers Epic Universe.

7. Hyatt House across from Universal Orlando Resort

Hyatt House, at 5940 Caravan Court, is the pick for longer stays. Hyatt’s page (archived November 2025) says many of its 168 rooms have a full kitchen and a separate living room, breakfast is complimentary and a 24-hour market sells groceries. It’s a Universal Partner Hotel with a complimentary Universal shuttle and the shortest walk of the off-site picks: about 1.1 miles to the middle of CityWalk, roughly 24 minutes across Kirkman Road. By road it’s about 1.5 miles to the garage toll plaza and 4.5 to Epic Universe’s.

  • Why stay: a kitchen, free breakfast and a walkable location can replace a lot of park and restaurant meals over a week.
  • Getting there / to the parks: walk, or take the complimentary scheduled Universal shuttle; ask for current times at check-in.
  • Good to know: parking isn’t free: Hyatt’s hotel information page listed self-parking at $22 in a January 2025 capture, and the hotel’s Booking.com listing gave $25 a day in October 2026 and says no pets are allowed; confirm both. Our guide to hotels within walking distance of Universal covers the other walkable options.

Best for: families staying a week who will cook some meals and walk to CityWalk.

8. Hyatt Place across from Universal Orlando Resort

Next door at 5976 Caravan Court, Hyatt Place has 150 rooms built around a sofa-sleeper “Cozy Corner”, a heated outdoor pool and a 24-hour fitness center. Hyatt’s page (archived May 2026) describes free scheduled transportation to Universal Orlando Resort, SeaWorld and Aquatica “based on availability”. The catch is breakfast: book a rate that includes it or add it at check-in, because only World of Hyatt members paying an eligible rate get it free, a perk that doesn’t apply to Booking.com reservations. By road it’s about 1.5 miles to the garage toll plaza, and the walk to the middle of CityWalk is about 1.2 miles, roughly 25 minutes.

  • Why stay: a modern, walkable base with a heated pool and shuttles to Universal, SeaWorld and Aquatica.
  • Getting there / to the parks: walk, or reserve the free scheduled shuttle. Hyatt lists Epic Universe at 2.42 miles; our route to its toll plaza is about 4.1 miles.
  • Good to know: self-parking was $22 a day in a September 2025 capture of Hyatt’s hotel information page and $25 a day on the hotel’s Booking.com listing in October 2026. Up to two dogs (50 pounds each, 75 combined) cost $100 per stay for 1 to 6 nights or $200 for 7 to 30 nights.

Best for: couples who want to walk to CityWalk and don’t need breakfast included.

9. Rosen Inn International

Rosen Inn International, at 7600 International Drive just north of Sand Lake Road, has the same no-resort-fee, $10-a-night parking deal as its sister hotel, with more for kids: two seasonally heated pools, a children’s pool, a playground and a game room. Cribs are free on request and a rollaway costs $20 plus tax a night. The hotel quotes 2.3 miles to Universal; our road route to the garage toll plaza is about 1.9 miles, and 3.6 miles to Epic Universe’s. The Fountain View Cafe’s breakfast buffet (6:30 to 10:30 a.m.) feeds one child 5 and under free per paying adult.

  • Why stay: no resort fee, free Wi-Fi, parking capped at $50 per car per stay, and pools and a playground for young kids.
  • Getting there / to the parks: the same free scheduled shuttles as its sister hotel, reserved in person up to 24 hours ahead; Fabulous Buses sells a paid Disney shuttle.

10. Rosen Inn at Pointe Orlando

The third Rosen Inn, at 9000 International Drive, is the farthest from Universal here, about 3.3 miles by road to the garage toll plaza, but the closest of the three to Epic Universe’s, about 2.9 miles, and it faces Pointe Orlando’s restaurants, bars and cinema. Fees match the other Rosen Inns: no resort fee, free Wi-Fi and $10-a-night parking capped at $50 per car. There are three outdoor pools (two seasonally heated), a playground, a game room and a fitness center, and the breakfast buffet has the same Kids Eat Free deal.

  • Why stay: low fixed costs, dinner across the street and the shortest Rosen drive to Epic Universe.
  • Getting there / to the parks: free scheduled shuttles to Universal, Epic Universe, SeaWorld and Aquatica, reserved in person 24 hours before departure. Fabulous Buses runs a paid Disney shuttle to Magic Kingdom or EPCOT ($15 per guest round trip at the time of writing).
  • Good to know: double rooms sleep five and kings three; rollaways are $20 plus tax, dogs $15 per dog per night (two max). Check-in is 4 p.m.

Best for: budget travelers splitting time between Universal, Epic Universe and the convention center, with dinner on foot.

11. Avanti International Resort

Avanti, at 8738 International Drive near ICON Park, is the most resort-like stay here, with low-rise buildings around a big heated zero-entry pool with a kids’ water playscape. It charges a resort fee of $18 plus tax per room per night, but its FAQ says the fee covers Wi-Fi, self-parking, the fitness center and scheduled shuttles to Universal Orlando Resort, Walt Disney World theme parks, SeaWorld and Aquatica. By road it’s about 2.8 miles to both Universal’s garage toll plaza and Epic Universe’s. Rooms sleep two adults and two children at most. Our Avanti International Resort review covers the shuttle timetables in detail.

  • Why stay: one small fee buys parking, Wi-Fi and rides to all three resort areas, plus a big zero-entry pool.
  • Getting there / to the parks: the Universal and Epic Universe shuttle is reserved in person; Disney and SeaWorld runs are booked through the operator and leave mid-morning, so drive for a Disney rope drop.
  • Good to know: the guest checking in must be 21 or older, breakfast at the Cafe & Marketplace costs extra, one pet up to 30 pounds is allowed for a $50 fee with vaccination records, and RVs aren’t permitted in the lot.

Best for: couples and families of four who want a resort pool and shuttles to Universal, Disney and SeaWorld for one fee.

Check availability at Avanti International Resort

12. CoCo Key Hotel and Water Resort

CoCo Key, at 7400 International Drive, is cheap only if you would have paid for a water park anyway. Its 391 rooms carry a daily resort fee of $45 plus tax, the highest here, but it includes up to four tickets to the 54,000-square-foot water park (half under a canopy), Wi-Fi, the resort pool and hot tub, the fitness center and scheduled shuttles to Universal and Walt Disney World. On stays of seven nights or more the hotel says the fee and the $15-a-day parking are waived. By road it’s about 1.8 miles to Universal’s garage toll plaza and 3.5 to Epic Universe’s. Rooms run from two queens to kings with bunk beds; our CoCo Key Hotel and Water Resort review has the details.

  • Why stay: a water park at the hotel for non-park days, handy while Volcano Bay is closed (October 26, 2026 until on or before April 1, 2027).
  • Getting there / to the parks: at the time of writing the transportation page listed runs at 7:10, 8:35, 10 and 11:25 a.m. (returns 5:15 to 8:30 p.m.) and a 9:50 a.m. Epic Universe run (back 6:15 p.m.), but its layout doesn’t make clear which park each time serves; Disney is one EPCOT run (9:50 a.m., back 5:45 p.m.). Reserve in person at the lobby Vacation Planning Center, open 7 to 11 a.m., first come, first served.
  • Good to know: the shuttle isn’t valid for special events or Early Park Admission, breakfast is a paid buffet, check-in is 4 p.m., and the front desk hands out free I-RIDE Trolley passes.

Best for: families who want slide days between park days, especially on week-long stays.

13. Universal Endless Summer Resort: Dockside and Surfside Inn and Suites

Universal’s two Endless Summer hotels, Dockside at 7125 Universal Boulevard and Surfside across the road at 7000, are the only hotels at Universal’s lowest price level, with the on-site perks: Early Park Admission up to an hour before opening at select attractions (valid ticket required) and free buses to every park. Standard rooms are 313 square feet with two queens for up to four; 440-square-foot two-bedroom suites sleep six with three queens and a kitchenette. What you don’t get: a walking path, free Express or free parking (self-parking is $26 plus tax a night, and each adult beyond two costs $15). Dockside is bigger and livelier, with two pools, sand beaches and a splash area; Surfside has one surfboard-shaped pool. Our Endless Summer Resort guide compares the pair.

  • Why stay: Early Park Admission and a suite for six at Universal’s lowest price level.
  • Getting there / to the parks: free shuttle buses only; Universal lists no walking path from either hotel.
  • Good to know: breakfast isn’t included (each hotel has a food court) and you must be 21 to book. Universal’s site advertised 25% off Dockside and Surfside on stays of five nights or more for travel September 8 to December 25, 2026 and January 3 to March 15, 2027, booked through Universal; Booking.com rates are set separately. Our cheapest Universal Orlando hotels guide has the full on-site comparison.

Best for: families of five or six who want on-site perks and don’t mind the bus.

14. Universal Cabana Bay Beach Resort

Cabana Bay, at 6550 Adventure Way, is the step up within Universal’s value tier: usually a little pricier than Endless Summer, with walking paths to the original parks and more to do. Universal lists 300-square-foot standard rooms with two queens for four, 430-square-foot Family Suites for six (two queens, a pull-out sofa, a privacy partition and a kitchenette) and Volcano Bay View 2-Bedroom Suites for eight. Two pool courtyards have a lazy river, a waterslide and a sand beach, and Galaxy Bowl charges separately. The walk to the middle of CityWalk takes roughly 20 to 30 minutes depending on your building. Our Cabana Bay Beach Resort review covers the rooms in detail.

  • Why stay: Early Park Admission, suites for six and the choice to walk, without Signature Collection prices.
  • Getting there / to the parks: walking paths to the CityWalk hub plus free buses, about every 15 minutes according to Universal, to CityWalk and Epic Universe; the Volcano Bay path closes with the park from October 26, 2026.
  • Good to know: self-parking is $26 plus tax a night and each adult beyond two costs $20. No pets, no Express. Universal’s site listed Cabana Bay in the 30% tier of the same five-night promotion.

Best for: families of five to eight who want on-site perks, pools and walking paths at a value price.

How to choose a cheap hotel near Universal Studios

  • Add up the fixed extras first. Resort fee, parking and 12.5% hotel tax decide your real nightly cost. Only Avanti ($18) and CoCo Key ($45) charge a resort fee here, and Universal’s hotels charge $26 plus tax for parking. Our list of Orlando hotels with no resort fees has more.
  • Decide whether you’ll have a car. Drivers should favor free parking and budget for the $35-a-day garages. Without a car, pick a hotel whose shuttle rules are in writing: Rosen and CoCo Key publish timetables, and Drury and the Holiday Inn Express say theirs serve Epic Universe.
  • Read the shuttle fine print. Partner-hotel shuttles run on fixed schedules and need reservations, often in person a day ahead; Rosen, CoCo Key and Avanti say theirs don’t run for Early Park Admission or special events such as Halloween Horror Nights. Our guide to Orlando hotels with free shuttles to Universal compares more.
  • Count heads. For five or six people, one Endless Summer, Cabana Bay or Drury suite usually beats two rooms; Rosen doubles take five, while Avanti rooms top out at two adults and two children.
  • Weigh Early Park Admission. Only Universal’s hotels include it; for October and November 2026 Universal listed it at Islands of Adventure and Epic Universe. If an hour’s head start matters, Endless Summer can be worth a slightly higher rate; our Early Park Admission guide explains the rules.
  • Going to Epic Universe most days? Its toll plaza is about 2.8 to 4.8 road miles from these hotels, and Epic shuttle times vary (the Rosen Inns list three or four morning runs), so check yours; see our guide to hotels near Epic Universe.

Before you book: deals, water parks and airport transfers

CoCo Key’s site says it’s offering free water park admission to Universal hotel guests while Volcano Bay is closed; check the terms if you’re at Endless Summer or Cabana Bay this winter. For cheap stays near Disney and SeaWorld too, see our roundup of cheap hotels in Orlando, and since none of these hotels lists a free airport shuttle, our guide to getting from Orlando airport to Universal compares the transfers.

Frequently asked questions

What is the cheapest hotel near Universal Studios Orlando?

The Rosen Inn Closest to Universal has the lowest add-on costs: no resort fee, free Wi-Fi, $10-a-night parking capped at $50 per stay and free scheduled shuttles to Universal and Epic Universe. The Holiday Inn Express & Suites Nearest Universal Orlando includes breakfast, parking and a shuttle. Rates change daily, so compare both.

Which cheap hotels near Universal have no resort fee?

The three Rosen Inns say they charge none, and the Holiday Inn Express promises “no surprise resort fees”. Drury, La Quinta, Best Western, Comfort Suites and both Hyatts showed none when we checked. Avanti ($18 plus tax) includes parking and shuttles in its fee, and CoCo Key’s ($45 plus tax) includes shuttles and water park tickets; Universal’s hotels list none but charge for parking.

Do cheap hotels near Universal Studios offer free shuttles?

Most do, but they run on schedules and need reservations. The Rosen Inns, Drury, the Holiday Inn Express, Comfort Suites and both Hyatts describe free scheduled Universal shuttles, La Quinta a free local shuttle and Best Western a Universal-only shuttle; Avanti and CoCo Key fold theirs into a resort fee. None lists Early Park Admission runs, so plan on a rideshare or your own car for rope drop.

Is it cheaper to stay on-site at Universal or at a nearby hotel?

It depends on your group. Endless Summer’s Dockside and Surfside are Universal’s lowest price level, with Early Park Admission and two-bedroom suites for six, but you pay $26 plus tax a night to park and breakfast costs extra. A family of four with a car can pay less off-site with free parking and breakfast. Add every fee before deciding.

Can you walk to Universal Studios from a budget hotel?

From the Major Boulevard and Caravan Court hotels, yes, if you’re up for it: our foot routes to the middle of CityWalk measured about 1.1 miles (24 minutes) from Hyatt House, 1.2 from Hyatt Place and Best Western, and 1.3 to 1.4 from the Holiday Inn Express, Comfort Suites and La Quinta. Cabana Bay has proper walking paths; Endless Summer doesn’t.

How much does parking cost at hotels near Universal Studios?

At last check the Holiday Inn Express, Drury, La Quinta, Best Western Plus and Comfort Suites listed free parking. The Rosen Inns charge $10 a night, tax included, capped at $50 per car per stay; CoCo Key charges $15 a day, both Hyatts list $25 a day on Booking.com (October 2026), Avanti includes parking in its $18 fee, and Universal’s value hotels charge $26 plus tax.

Bottom line

The cheap hotels near Universal Studios Orlando to beat are the Rosen Inn Closest to Universal and the Holiday Inn Express & Suites Nearest Universal Orlando, with Drury for included dinner and Hyatt House for a kitchen you can walk from. Choose Endless Summer or Cabana Bay when Early Park Admission or a suite for six matters more than free parking. Check current rates at Rosen Inn Closest to Universal.
