Getting from Orlando airport to International Drive takes about 25 to 30 minutes by car in light traffic: most of I-Drive’s hotels sit 13 to 17 road miles west of Orlando International Airport (MCO), reached on the SR 528 toll road, the Beachline Expressway. You can take an Uber, Lyft or taxi, book a private car, rent a car or ride a $2 LYNX bus.
Don’t count on a free hotel van, though: no I-Drive hotel is on the airport’s list of complimentary shuttles, and the two big shared shuttles at MCO, Mears Connect and Universal’s SuperStar Shuttle, don’t serve I-Drive hotels. Fares and schedules below come from the airport, LYNX, the Central Florida Expressway Authority (CFX) and the hotels’ own pages, checked in October 2026; confirm them before you fly.
Quick answer: For most travelers, Uber or Lyft is the easiest way from MCO to International Drive: about 25 to 30 minutes door to door, with one price for the whole car. A taxi works the same way; the airport’s undated rate guide lists about $38 to $45 for the I-Drive area, though the meter sets the fare. Traveling light on a budget? LYNX Link 42 runs from the airport down I-Drive for $2, but it takes about 50 to 90 minutes. Rent a car only if you’ll leave I-Drive: the SR 528 toll is $2.24 with a transponder or Visitor Toll Pass, and parking at the three hotels we suggest runs from $10 to $40 plus tax a night.

How far is International Drive from the airport?
International Drive is a long corridor, so the answer depends on where your hotel is. We ran these road routes on OSRM from the Terminal A and B curb in October 2026:
| From MCO to | Road distance | Drive, light traffic |
|---|---|---|
| Convention center (south I-Drive) | About 13 mi | About 23-25 min |
| Pointe Orlando area | About 14 mi | About 26 min |
| ICON Park (central I-Drive) | About 13-14 mi | About 25-26 min |
| North I-Drive (Premium Outlets) | About 13-14 mi | About 30 min |
| Far south (Vineland Premium Outlets) | About 16.5 mi | About 30 min |
Terminal C adds about a mile and a couple of minutes. Hotel figures are often shorter: Rosen Centre says it’s 12 minutes from the airport and Rosen Inn at Pointe Orlando says 12 miles, while our routes came to about 13 and 14 road miles.
Uber, Lyft and taxis from MCO to I-Drive
A rideshare or taxi is the quickest door-to-door option, and because you pay per vehicle, it gets better value the more of you there are.
- Uber and Lyft pickups: at Terminals A and B, on the Level 2 arrivals curb around the clock, plus the Level 3 departures curb from 9 p.m. to 2 a.m. At Terminal C, on the Level 6 arrivals curb. There is no published fare: the app quotes a price before you book, and it can rise when demand is high.
- Taxis: on Level 1 at Terminal A (spaces A22-A25) and Terminal B (B30-B34), and on the Level 6 arrivals curb at Terminal C. Cabs carry up to nine people for the same fare, and they must run the meter; flat rates aren’t allowed.
- What a taxi costs: the airport’s approximate-rate table lists $38 to $45 to the International Drive area. It carries no date, and MCO itself warns that metered fares may vary, so treat it as a rough guide and add a tip.
Traveling with young kids? Florida law requires children 5 and younger to ride in a crash-tested child restraint. Hired vehicles such as taxis and car services are exempt, but the statute still makes the parent responsible, so bring a seat or book a car service that supplies one.
Is there a shuttle from Orlando airport to International Drive?
Not a free one, and not a shared one that most I-Drive visitors can use. Here is what we found:
- Hotel shuttles: MCO’s list of hotels offering complimentary airport transportation starts with the Hyatt Regency inside the terminal and lists hotels up to about 9 miles away, mostly in the airport hotel district; none is on International Drive. The airport’s rate table marks the hotel shuttle as “N/A” for the I-Drive area.
- What I-Drive hotels say: Rosen Inn at Pointe Orlando says airport shuttles “are available through local transportation companies and can be arranged for a fee,” and Rosen Centre’s transportation page recommends rideshare such as Lyft and Uber, although its Booking.com description mentions an airport transfer for a surcharge, so ask the hotel.
- Mears Connect: the 24-hour shared shuttle serves Walt Disney World’s resorts, the Disney Springs area hotels and some other Disney-area hotels, more than 40 in all. For hotels not on its list, Mears points you to its private car service.
- Universal’s SuperStar Shuttle: Universal’s travel-advisor page (archived April 2026) lists only its own on-site hotels, not I-Drive hotels. Our guide to getting from Orlando airport to Universal covers it.
- Shared vans: the airport’s undated rate table still shows a per-person “shuttle van” fare for the I-Drive area, and MCO says its concessionaire, Mears Destination Services, runs shuttle vans from Level 1. Mears Connect’s hotel list covers Disney-area hotels only, so ask the shuttle-van attendant whether a shared van serves your hotel.
Private car services fill the gap. Mears, the airport’s ground transportation concessionaire, runs Mears Luxe with sedans for up to four people, SUVs for five, vans and limousines for eight and executive vans for 13, and MCO lists many other permitted companies. Mears says it adds a 6% fuel surcharge to all reservations until further notice. Ask whether a quote includes the toll, tip and car seats.

LYNX buses from MCO to International Drive ($2)
LYNX city buses leave from the A side of the main terminal, Level 1, at spaces A38-A41. Arriving at Terminal C, ride the Terminal Link train to the main terminal first, or take the 24-hour shuttle bus from Level 1 (space C272) to Terminal B. A ride costs $2 and an all-day pass $4.50, exact fare only. Ask the driver for a transfer when you board: it’s valid for 90 minutes on a different Link.

- Link 42 (the I-Drive bus): it runs from the airport via the Sand Lake Road SunRail station and the Florida Mall to International Drive at Oak Ridge Road, by the Orlando International Premium Outlets, then south along I-Drive to the Destination Parkway SuperStop, with local stops along the way. On weekdays buses leave MCO from 5:05 a.m. to 12:05 a.m., mostly every 25 to 35 minutes and hourly late at night. The timetable gives about 47 to 65 minutes to I-Drive and Oak Ridge Road and 65 to 89 minutes to Destination Parkway. Weekend service starts at 5:35 a.m. on Saturdays and 5:30 a.m. on Sundays and holidays.
- Link 311 (the express): it runs from MCO via Sand Lake Road and the Florida Mall (some trips also stop at Epic Universe) to the Destination Parkway SuperStop near the convention center, then on to Disney Springs. Buses leave the airport about every 25 to 45 minutes from 4:50 a.m. on weekdays (5:05 a.m. on weekends) until 10:05 p.m., and reach Destination Parkway in about 30 to 53 minutes.
The fare is unbeatable, but you’ll wheel your bags from the stop to the lobby, and Link 42 detours via the Florida Mall and Oak Ridge Road before it reaches I-Drive. There’s no train option either: SunRail doesn’t stop at the airport (MCO points riders to the bus link from its Sand Lake Road station) and runs Monday to Friday only, and Brightline’s trains from the airport station run south to South Florida.
Renting a car: SR 528 tolls and I-Drive parking
Ten rental brands, from Alamo to Thrifty, operate on-airport at MCO. At Terminals A and B you collect the car in the garage (Level R1, R2 or P1, depending on the brand); at Terminal C, in parking levels C1 or C2. Leaving the airport, take the North exit to SR 528 West. For south I-Drive and the convention center, use the International Drive/SeaWorld exit; Rosen Centre’s directions put the hotel about a quarter mile along I-Drive from the end of that ramp.
The toll is small. CFX’s toll calculator gave these figures for a two-axle car on October 15, 2026:
| SR 528 West from the airport to | Transponder or Visitor Toll Pass | Pay by plate |
|---|---|---|
| International Dr or Orangewood Blvd exit | $2.24 | $2.54 |
| Boggy Creek Rd exit (for McCoy Rd and Sand Lake Rd) | $1.38 | $2.76 |
The return trip from the International Drive ramp to the airport costs the same $2.24 or $2.54. Don’t plan on paying cash: CFX has been converting its toll plazas to cashless collection.
The Visitor Toll Pass, available only at MCO, is free to reserve in its app. You pay a $10 deposit that goes toward your tolls, collect the hangtag from a machine near the rental counters (Level 1 at Terminals A and B, Level 4 at Terminal C), add your rental’s plate in the app and decline the rental company’s toll program so you aren’t billed twice. Drop it in an airport return box when you fly home, or you lose the deposit. Our guides to Orlando toll roads and renting a car in Orlando go deeper.
Then add hotel parking. At the three hotels suggested below, self-parking is $10 a night including tax (capped at $50 a stay) at Rosen Inn at Pointe Orlando, $16 a night at Fairfield Inn & Suites and $40 plus tax a night at Rosen Centre, at the time of writing. If you only need a car for a beach or Disney day, both Rosen hotels point guests to Enterprise, and Rosen Inn says Enterprise rentals are delivered to the hotel.
Allow extra time through 2027. MCO is replacing the Gate Link trams to Gates 70-129 from December 2025 to fall 2027 and asks travelers using rental cars or ground transportation to allow an extra 30 minutes in their pickup plans.
Do you need a car on International Drive?
Often not. The I-RIDE Trolley runs daily from 8 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. Its Red Line covers International Drive from the Orlando International Premium Outlets at the north end, past SeaWorld, to the Orlando Vineland Premium Outlets, about every 20 minutes; the Green Line follows Universal Boulevard about every 45 minutes. A ride is $2 ($1 for ages 3 to 9, free under 3, 25 cents for seniors 65 and up) in exact change, or buy a pass: $8 for one day, $10 for three, $12 for five and $18 for seven. Passes aren’t sold on board.
Many I-Drive hotels also run free or paid shuttles to the parks; our list of International Drive hotels with a Disney shuttle shows which are free, included in a fee or paid. A car pays off if you plan beach days, Kennedy Space Center or several Disney days.
Where to stay on International Drive by budget
For the shortest ride from the airport, stay near the convention center and the SR 528 exit. For walkable restaurants and attractions, look at the ICON Park and Pointe Orlando stretch. Our guides to the best hotels on International Drive, cheap hotels on International Drive, hotels near ICON Park and hotels near the Orange County Convention Center compare more options, and our where to stay in Orlando guide sets I-Drive against Disney and Universal. Three picks that make arrival day easy:
Budget: Rosen Inn at Pointe Orlando

This large Rosen Inn at 9000 International Drive sits across the road from Pointe Orlando’s restaurants and cinema and, the hotel says, less than a mile from the convention center. By road it’s about 14 miles from the airport. It’s the cheapest base here if you rent a car: parking is $10 a night including tax, capped at $50 per car per stay, and there’s no resort fee. Link 42 buses and I-RIDE stop 18 are nearby, and guests get a free scheduled Universal shuttle (reserve 24 hours ahead) plus a paid Disney shuttle run by Fabulous Buses.
There are three pools (two heated seasonally), a playground and an arcade. Every room has a mini-fridge and microwave, cribs are free on request, and at the Plaza Garden breakfast buffet one child eats free with each paying adult (5 and under per the dining page, under 5 per the FAQ). Check-in is at 4 p.m. Compare all four inns in our Rosen Inn guide.

Mid-range: Fairfield Inn & Suites Orlando International Drive/Convention Center

This Fairfield at 8214 Universal Boulevard sits next to ICON Park, so you can walk to The Wheel and the restaurants there after a long travel day. It’s about 13 to 14 road miles from the airport. Marriott lists a free hot breakfast daily from 6:30 to 9:30 a.m., an outdoor pool and the ICONic Sips bar, and calls the hotel a Universal Orlando Partner Hotel. Its Booking.com description mentions a complimentary Universal shuttle; ask the front desk for times.
Booking.com’s listing gives $16 a night for parking, one vehicle per reservation, plus a $100 damage deposit collected on arrival. Check-in is at 3 p.m. and check-out at noon.
Splurge: Rosen Centre Hotel

Rosen Centre, at 9840 International Drive, is connected to the Orange County Convention Center and is the quickest of the three to reach from MCO: about 13 miles and 23 minutes in our routing. It has 1,254 guest rooms and 80 suites, an Olympic-size outdoor pool and a spa, with no resort fee and free Wi-Fi in rooms. A complimentary Universal shuttle runs daily, first come, first served; sign up at the Concierge Desk, 24 hours ahead.

Self-parking is $40 and valet $53 a night, each plus tax, so it suits travelers arriving by rideshare more than drivers. Check-in is at 3 p.m. and check-out at 11 a.m. Read our full Rosen Centre review.

Frequently asked questions
How far is International Drive from Orlando airport?
About 13 to 17 road miles, depending on which part of I-Drive you’re heading to. The convention center end is closest, about 13 miles and 23 to 25 minutes from Terminals A and B in light traffic via SR 528. ICON Park is about 13 to 14 miles and the north end about 30 minutes away. Terminal C adds roughly a mile and a couple of minutes.
How much is an Uber or taxi from Orlando airport to International Drive?
Uber and Lyft don’t publish fixed fares: the app quotes a price before you book, and it rises at busy times. Taxis are metered, and the airport’s undated rate guide lists $38 to $45 to the International Drive area, plus tip. Both charge per vehicle, so a taxi carrying up to nine people costs the same as one carrying a single passenger.
Is there a shuttle from Orlando airport to International Drive?
Not a free one. MCO’s list of hotels with complimentary airport shuttles includes only airport-area hotels, Mears Connect serves Disney-area hotels and Universal’s SuperStar Shuttle serves Universal’s own hotels. For I-Drive, book a private car service such as Mears Luxe, take a rideshare or taxi, or ask your hotel which local company it recommends.
Is there a bus from Orlando airport to International Drive?
Yes. LYNX Link 42 runs from Terminal A’s Level 1 (spaces A38-A41) to International Drive at Oak Ridge Road and then south along I-Drive, for $2. Buses leave about every 30 minutes from early morning to around midnight and take roughly 50 to 90 minutes. Link 311 is faster to the Destination Parkway SuperStop near the convention center.
Do I need a car if I stay on International Drive?
Not necessarily. The I-RIDE Trolley covers International Drive daily from 8 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. for $2 a ride or $8 for a one-day pass, and many hotels run Universal or Disney shuttles. Rent a car for beach or Kennedy Space Center days; budget a $2.24 SR 528 toll with a pass and hotel parking of roughly $10 to $40 a night.
Bottom line
For most trips from Orlando airport to International Drive, a rideshare or taxi is the simplest choice: about 25 to 30 minutes and one fare for the whole group. Budget travelers with light bags can ride LYNX Link 42 for $2, and drivers pay a toll of about $2.24 with a pass. Stay near the convention center for the quickest transfer, or near ICON Park if you’d rather walk to dinner.
