The best runDisney hotels are the ones on Disney’s race-weekend transportation list: Disney Resort hotels, Shades of Green and the Walt Disney World Swan, Dolphin and Swan Reserve. Their guests ride free buses to the EPCOT start area from as early as 2:30 a.m. and to the expo at ESPN Wide World of Sports. Everyone else drives or ride-shares to EPCOT in the dark, so a short, simple route matters more than the pool.

This guide covers all four Walt Disney World race weekends of the 2026-27 season, using runDisney’s event pages and its digital guide for the 2026 Wine & Dine weekend (checked October 14, 2026). Guides for the 2027 weekends come out closer to each event, so treat the Wine & Dine details as the pattern and confirm yours.

Quick answer: To skip the 3 a.m. drive, book the Walt Disney World Dolphin, Swan or Swan Reserve, the race-bus hotels anyone can book on Booking.com, about 2 to 2.5 miles by road from the EPCOT race lots. To cut fees, stay at Drury Plaza or the Hilton Orlando Buena Vista Palace near Disney Springs and drive about 11 minutes; the 2026 Wine & Dine guide makes race-morning parking at EPCOT free before 7:30 a.m. Either way, arrive by the day before your first race, because bibs are only handed out at the expo.

The 2026 Wine & Dine guide starts and finishes every race in the EPCOT parking lots, with the first runners away at 4:30 or 5 a.m. The 2027 race pages list only “Walt Disney World Resort” as the location.

2026-27 runDisney race weekends and start times

Every race on all four weekends was listed as sold out when we checked on October 14, 2026; only the Wine & Dine Post-Race Party still showed tickets. If you don’t have a bib, runDisney’s planning pages list official travel providers and charities for each weekend.

Times are for the first start group; 5K groups start from 4:30 to 7:30 a.m. on the race pages (about 8 a.m. for the last 2026 Wine & Dine group). Wherever you stay, you must collect your bib at the runDisney Health & Fitness Expo at least one day before your first race, with a government-issued photo ID, a signed digital waiver and your Check-in Pass. There’s no race-morning pickup.

Which hotels get runDisney race-day transportation

runDisney’s FAQ is blunt: Disney transportation to its events is only for guests of a hotel at Walt Disney World Resort, Shades of Green or the Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin. The 2026 Wine & Dine guide names the resorts served: the Disney Resorts Collection hotels, Shades of Green (a military resort with its own eligibility rules), the Swan, the Dolphin and the Swan Reserve.

That leaves out the other 11 hotels on Disney’s Early Theme Park Entry list, including the eight Disney Springs Resort Area hotels and Signia; our list of non-Disney hotels with Early Theme Park Entry explains that park-day perk. runDisney tells everyone else to check with their hotel or book a private car.

This is the bus schedule in the 2026 Wine & Dine event guide:

  • 5K: continuous service from 2:30 to 10 a.m. between the resorts and the EPCOT bus loop.
  • 10K: 3 to 5 a.m. to the start, then 6:30 to 9 a.m. back from the finish.
  • Half marathon: 2:30 to 5 a.m. to the start, then 6:30 to 10:30 a.m. back.
  • Expo: 8:15 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. on day one, 11:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. on day two, 10:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on day three.

For the 10K and half, service to the start ends at 5 a.m., so set your alarm by that, not by your start time. Minnie Van service connected by Lyft, booked in the Lyft app while on Disney property, also runs private rides to the start area from as early as 2:30 a.m.

Driving to the race: EPCOT parking, rideshare and road closures

For the 2026 Wine & Dine races, guests not staying at a listed resort must park at EPCOT, free before 7:30 a.m. The lot opens at 2:30 a.m. for the 5K and half marathon and 3 a.m. for the 10K. Runners and spectators for the 10K and half should be at the lot by 4 a.m., and 5K runners about an hour before their projected start.

The event lots are Crush, Dory, HeiHei, Moana and Wall-E; note your row, because they look identical in the dark. Rideshare drop-off for the 5K and 10K is a dedicated zone the guide places next to the HeiHei lot (its FAQs call it the EPCOT Rideshare Loop). On half-marathon morning, drop-offs use the rideshare loop until 4 a.m., then the Charter lot from 4:30 a.m.

Roads close too. For the 2026 half marathon the guide lists 16 closures between 3 and 10:30 a.m., including Buena Vista Drive East between Osceola Parkway and Cypress Drive (4 to 9:30 a.m.) and Epcot Center Drive West between Vacation Club Way and World Drive (4:30 to 9 a.m.). Most start between 3:45 and 4:30 a.m., so aim to be parked well before 4 a.m. and check your weekend’s closure list.

The runDisney expo at ESPN Wide World of Sports

All four weekends hold the expo at ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex. The 2026 Wine & Dine map uses AdventHealth Arena (official merchandise), the Athletic Center (race shirts and exhibitors) and the State Farm Field House (bibs). On day one, a virtual queue in the My Disney Experience app controls entry to the merchandise shop, and you must be within about 45 miles of Walt Disney World to join.

Parking at the complex is limited, especially on day one; when it fills, drivers are sent to an off-site lot with free buses. Disney’s Art of Animation, Pop Century and Caribbean Beach resorts are about 1.5 to 2.2 miles from the complex by road, and our guide to hotels near ESPN Wide World of Sports covers off-site options.

Best runDisney hotels by need

Walt Disney World Dolphin: race buses and rooms for five

The Dolphin is the largest of three Marriott-managed hotels in the middle of Walt Disney World, and its guests ride runDisney’s race and expo buses. On park days its buses leave about every 20 to 25 minutes for Magic Kingdom, Animal Kingdom and Disney Springs, and walkways lead to EPCOT and Hollywood Studios.

  • Why stay: standard rooms are listed for two adults and three children (two and two at the Swan and Swan Reserve), and the resort’s FAQ prices a third, fourth and fifth adult at $35 plus tax a night, so confirm before booking five adults.
  • Getting there / to the races: runDisney race and expo buses; by car, about 2.4 miles to the EPCOT lot and 3.5 to ESPN.
  • Good to know: a mandatory $50-plus-tax daily resort service package for two guests and $40-plus-tax self-parking at the time of writing; Early Entry, Extended Evening Hours and free standard theme park parking are included.

Best for: running groups and families; our Walt Disney World Dolphin review covers the rooms.

Walt Disney World Swan Reserve: the newest building, a 2-mile drive

The Swan Reserve, added in 2021 on Epcot Resorts Boulevard, is the newest of the three and shares their runDisney buses, Disney perks and fees. At about 2 miles, it and the Swan have the shortest drives to the EPCOT lot in this guide.

  • Getting there / to the races: runDisney buses; by car, about 2 miles to the EPCOT lot and 3.1 to ESPN.
  • Good to know: the same $50 package and $40 self-parking, plus tax; a third or fourth adult is $35 plus tax a night.

Best for: couples and small groups. Our Walt Disney World Swan review and Swan vs Dolphin vs Swan Reserve comparison help you choose between the three.

Hilton Orlando Buena Vista Palace: one of the closest Disney Springs-area hotels

Of the eight Disney Springs Resort Area hotels, the Buena Vista Palace, at 1900 Buena Vista Drive, is among the closest to the EPCOT lot in our routing: about 3.9 miles via Disney Vacation Club Way and Epcot Center Drive, roughly 11 minutes (most of the others are about 4 to 6 miles). Disney Springs is a 5- to 7-minute walk for dinner the night before.

  • Why stay: Early Entry, the Float Lagoon and restaurants within walking distance.
  • Getting there / to the races: drive or ride-share. The hourly park shuttle needs a reservation and its first run leaves 90 minutes before a park opens, so it won’t make a race start. ESPN is about 5.3 miles away.
  • Good to know: a $41-plus-tax daily resort charge including the park shuttle and Float Lagoon access; self-parking $38 and valet $48 a night plus tax, at the time of writing.

Best for: runners who’ll drive; see our Hilton Orlando Buena Vista Palace review or the area’s other hotels in our Disney Springs hotels guide.

Drury Plaza Hotel Orlando: no resort fee and breakfast after the race

Drury Plaza, at 2000 Hotel Plaza Boulevard, is the value pick among the Early Entry hotels near the course: no resort fee, $28-a-night parking ($25 plus tax in the hotel’s FAQ), a free hot breakfast from 6 to 10 a.m. and the free 5:30 Kickback with hot food and drinks from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Breakfast opens too late for pre-race fuel, so bring your own; faster 10K and half finishers may be back before it ends.

  • Why stay: the lowest fixed costs of any Early Entry hotel here, half a mile from Disney Springs.
  • Getting there / to the races: about 4.7 miles to the EPCOT lot via Bonnet Creek Parkway and Epcot Center Drive, about 11 minutes, and 5.5 to ESPN. The free hourly park shuttle starts about 90 minutes before opening, so it won’t help on race morning.
  • Good to know: parking is self-park only, rollaways are $15 a day plus tax, and early check-in is $50.

Best for: budget-minded runners who’ll drive; our Drury Plaza Hotel Orlando review has the room details.

Signia by Hilton Orlando Bonnet Creek: a lazy river for the day after

Signia is the big family resort in the private Bonnet Creek enclave, with Early Entry, a lazy river and a 24-hour fitness center for a treadmill shakeout. Its $50-plus-tax resort charge covers two bottles of water a day, four lazy-river tubes, a free kids’-menu dinner for children 12 and under with each adult entrée, and the park shuttle, which runs during regular park hours only.

  • Getting there / to the races: about 4.5 miles to the EPCOT lot on public roads (Chelonia Parkway, Buena Vista Drive and World Drive), roughly 13 minutes, and 4.1 to ESPN. The 2026 half-marathon closure list includes Buena Vista Drive East from 4 a.m. and Overpass Road West at Bonnet Creek from 3 a.m.
  • Good to know: self-parking $40 and valet $60 a day plus tax, at the time of writing.

Best for: families turning race weekend into a vacation; our Signia by Hilton Orlando Bonnet Creek review has the shuttle timetable.

Hyatt Regency Orlando International Airport: for late arrivals

If you land the night before the expo, or fly out the morning after your last race, the Hyatt Regency inside Orlando International Airport saves a late drive. Its 445 rooms are in the Terminal A/B building above the checkpoint for Gates 70-129, about 21 miles or 33 minutes without traffic from EPCOT and ESPN.

  • Getting there / to the races: rental car or rideshare; it’s too far for race mornings.
  • Good to know: MCO lists $19 a night self-parking or $28 valet for registered guests; the pages we checked showed no resort fee, so confirm the total. No Disney perks.

Best for: a first or last night; see our Hyatt Regency Orlando International Airport review.

Disney Resort hotels: book with Disney

Disney’s own resorts are on the race-bus list but aren’t sold on Booking.com. runDisney’s planning page pitches Walt Disney Travel Company packages with “Magical Extras” such as complimentary transportation to runDisney events. Compare them with off-site options in our guide to hotels near EPCOT.

How many nights to book for a runDisney weekend

Count back from your first race: you need to reach the expo at least the day before.

  • Dopey Challenge or Marathon Weekend 5K: the 5K is Thursday, January 7, so arrive by Wednesday, January 6 (expo 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.).
  • Princess or Springtime Surprise 5K: the expo opens Thursday, February 25 or April 8, from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., for Friday’s 5K.
  • Sunday race only: bibs can be collected until the expo closes at 3 p.m. on Saturday, so a Saturday-evening arrival is too late.
  • Wine & Dine Post-Race Party: it runs from 10 p.m. to 1 a.m. on Sunday night at EPCOT, so keep your room until Monday.

The weekends also overlap EPCOT festivals: Food & Wine runs through November 21, 2026; Festival of the Arts runs January 15 to March 1, 2027, after Marathon Weekend but during Princess weekend; and Flower & Garden runs March 10 to May 31, 2027. Our guides to Orlando in January, Orlando in February and Orlando in April cover the rest of those weeks.

Frequently asked questions

Do you have to stay at a Disney hotel for a runDisney race?

No. Any hotel works, and runDisney says you don’t need a theme park ticket to race. The difference is transport: only guests of Disney Resort hotels, Shades of Green and the Walt Disney World Swan, Dolphin and Swan Reserve get runDisney’s buses. Everyone else drives or ride-shares to EPCOT, where the 2026 Wine & Dine guide makes race-morning parking free before 7:30 a.m.

Which non-Disney hotels have runDisney transportation?

The Walt Disney World Swan, Dolphin and Swan Reserve, plus Shades of Green, a military resort with its own eligibility rules. The other 11 hotels on Disney’s Early Theme Park Entry list, such as the Disney Springs-area hotels and Signia, aren’t on runDisney’s list of resorts served, so plan your own ride.

Where do you park for a runDisney race?

At EPCOT. For the 2026 Wine & Dine weekend, runDisney tells guests not staying at a listed resort to park at EPCOT for every race, with free parking before 7:30 a.m. The lot opens at 2:30 a.m. for the 5K and half and at 3 a.m. for the 10K.

What time should you get to EPCOT on race morning?

For the 2026 Wine & Dine 10K and half marathon, runDisney asks runners and spectators to be at the EPCOT parking lot by 4 a.m., and 5K runners about an hour before their projected start. Road closures begin as early as 3 a.m., most between 3:45 and 4:30 a.m., so leave with a margin.

Where is the runDisney expo, and do you have to go?

Yes, you have to go. The runDisney Health & Fitness Expo is at ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex, and it’s the only place to collect your bib, at least one day before your first race. Bring a government-issued photo ID, your signed digital waiver and your Check-in Pass. Parking there is limited, especially on the first day, so consider a rideshare.

Bottom line

For a runDisney weekend, transport beats everything else. The Walt Disney World Dolphin, Swan and Swan Reserve are the race-bus hotels anyone can book on Booking.com, the easiest choice for a 3 a.m. start. To save, drive about 11 minutes from Drury Plaza or the Hilton Orlando Buena Vista Palace and park at EPCOT before 4 a.m.
