The closest hotels near Magic Kingdom are Disney’s own: you can walk to the park from Disney’s Contemporary Resort or the Grand Floridian, both on the Resort monorail loop with the Polynesian Village, and Wilderness Lodge and Fort Wilderness have boats. Among hotels you can book on Booking.com, Four Seasons Resort Orlando and the Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin are the nearest by road, about 4 miles from Magic Kingdom’s parking area.

Cars, rideshares and most off-site hotel shuttles stop at the Transportation and Ticket Center (TTC), and you finish the trip by ferry or monorail. Below we compare the five Disney resorts with direct access, then rank 10 non-Disney hotels by road distance to the TTC. For park-day planning, see our Magic Kingdom tips for first-timers.

We checked official pages (or archived copies) in October 2026; confirm fees and schedules before you book.

Quick answer: For the shortest trip, book Disney’s Contemporary Resort or Grand Floridian (walk or monorail), or the Polynesian Village (monorail or boat). Off-site, Four Seasons Resort Orlando (Early Entry and a free hourly coach) and the Walt Disney World Dolphin (Early Entry plus Extended Evening Hours) are the closest, about 4 miles by road. On a budget, Drury Plaza pairs Early Entry with free hot breakfast, a free hourly shuttle and no resort fee.

How getting to Magic Kingdom works

At EPCOT, Hollywood Studios and Animal Kingdom, Disney’s parking trams drop you at the main entrance. At Magic Kingdom they take you to the Transportation and Ticket Center, and you cross to the gate in one of two ways:

  • Ferryboat: Disney’s ferries link the TTC and Magic Kingdom.
  • Express monorail: runs between the TTC and the park. A separate Resort monorail stops at Magic Kingdom, the Contemporary, the Grand Floridian, the Polynesian Village and the TTC.

Disney says the Resort and Express monorails start 30 minutes before Magic Kingdom opens and stop one hour after it closes. Most of its boat routes run every 15 to 30 minutes.

Who skips the TTC: guests of the monorail and boat resorts, and riders on Disney’s resort buses, which Disney lists at a Magic Kingdom bus stop separate from the TTC. Those buses start 45 minutes before park opening and run until an hour after closing. The Swan and Dolphin notes that ordinary rideshares stop at the TTC, which it says can add 45 minutes to over an hour, while Disney’s Minnie Vans (booked through Lyft) may use the bus depot near the park entrance.

Parking: At the time of writing, standard theme park parking costs $35 a day and preferred parking $50, $55 or $60, depending on the date, tax included. One pass covers all four theme parks that day, and standard parking is included for Disney Resort hotel guests.

Disney resorts closest to Magic Kingdom

Disney’s Magic Kingdom Resort Area has four Deluxe resorts, each with Disney Vacation Club villas, plus the Fort Wilderness campground. No hotel sits inside the park itself. Guests get 30-minute Early Theme Park Entry every day (Disney says the perk continues through 2027), Extended Evening Hours on select nights at the Deluxe and Deluxe Villa resorts, free overnight self-parking and Lightning Lane purchases from 7 days before the stay. You book them with Disney; they aren’t sold on Booking.com.

Disney’s Contemporary Resort

Disney says that from the A-frame main tower or the Garden Wing you can walk to Magic Kingdom’s main gate, and the Resort monorail runs right through the tower. Water taxis link the Contemporary with Fort Wilderness and Wilderness Lodge. Disney says refurbishment will continue in phases through late 2027, including Bay Lake Tower and the Main Tower atrium, and exterior work may affect some views.

Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa

Disney’s Victorian-style flagship is one Resort monorail stop from Magic Kingdom, water launches leave for the park, and Disney says a new walking path of less than a mile now links the resort with the park. At last check, Disney said renovations, including the covered entrance, continue through early 2027, and Grand Floridian Cafe is closed for a refresh through October 2026, with brunch moved to Cítricos.

Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort

The Polynesian is on the Resort monorail loop and has boat launches on Seven Seas Lagoon. Its villa side includes the newer Island Tower. Through late 2026, Disney says, refurbishment that includes a reconfigured front entrance roadway may affect some park views, so allow extra travel time. Trader Sam’s Tiki Terrace is closed through late October.

Disney’s Wilderness Lodge

This national-park-style lodge on Bay Lake has boats to Magic Kingdom and buses to the other parks, but no monorail. Disney says exterior refurbishment of the lodge and Copper Creek continues through late 2026, which may obstruct some views.

Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground

Fort Wilderness covers 750 acres of pine and cypress forest. Its four types of campsites take everything from tents to RVs of 45 feet and longer, for up to 8 guests per site. Boats run to Magic Kingdom; at Fort Wilderness, Extended Evening Hours apply only to the Disney Vacation Club cabins.

Opening July 1, 2027: Disney’s Lakeshore Lodge

Disney’s Lakeshore Lodge, a new hotel on Bay Lake, opens on July 1, 2027. Disney says you’ll sail to Magic Kingdom by water taxi and take buses to the other parks, with rooms from Resort Studios to villas and Lake Houses. It already appears on Disney’s Early Entry and Extended Evening Hours lists.

Shades of Green

Shades of Green is an Armed Forces Recreation Center resort for U.S. Armed Forces members, their families and other authorized users, about 4 miles by road from the TTC. It’s on Disney’s Early Entry and Extended Evening Hours lists, and its guests get the 7-day Lightning Lane window. At last check, its website warned that the walkway from the hotel to the Polynesian Village is no longer accessible because of the World Drive Expansion Project.

How we chose the non-Disney hotels

The numbered list covers hotels you can book on Booking.com. Hotels often quote straight-line distances or distances to Disney’s boundary, so we measured road routes to the TTC with OSRM, without traffic. From the Disney Springs area that route uses Live Oak Lane, a Disney-operated road. We then checked official pages for:

  • Transport: whether a park shuttle runs, how you book it and where it drops you.
  • Disney perks: Early Entry and Extended Evening Hours, from Disney’s own hotel lists. Labels such as “Official Walt Disney World Hotel”, “Good Neighbor Hotel” or “Walt Disney World Gateway” don’t decide this.
  • Value: resort fees, parking and included breakfast, dated.

We don’t use review scores, and we didn’t stay at these hotels.

1. Four Seasons Resort Orlando at Walt Disney World Resort

Four Seasons sits inside the gates of Walt Disney World, in Disney’s private Golden Oak community, about 3.9 miles from the TTC, roughly 10 minutes via Vista Boulevard and World Drive. Guests get Early Theme Park Entry every day.

Best for: families and couples who want luxury, Early Entry and one of the shortest drives to the castle.

2. Walt Disney World Dolphin

The Dolphin and its neighbors, the Swan and Swan Reserve, are Marriott-affiliated hotels in Disney’s EPCOT Resort Area. The Dolphin is about 4 miles by road from the TTC, roughly 9 minutes; the Swan next door measured a little closer, about 3.7 miles.

Buses leave the front of each hotel about every 20 to 25 minutes and drop Magic Kingdom guests at the TTC. If you drive, standard theme park parking is included for registered guests. Our Swan vs Dolphin vs Swan Reserve comparison explains how the three differ.

  • Why stay: nearly the full Disney Resort package at a hotel you can book on Booking.com.
  • Getting there / to the parks: water taxis and walkways to EPCOT and Hollywood Studios; buses to the other parks.

Frequently asked questions

What hotel is closest to Magic Kingdom?

Disney’s Contemporary Resort. Disney says you can walk to the main gate from its main tower and Garden Wing. The Grand Floridian, one monorail stop away, now has a walking path of under a mile to the park. Among non-Disney hotels, the Swan, the Dolphin and Four Seasons Resort Orlando are the closest by road, about 4 miles from the Transportation and Ticket Center.

Are there any hotels inside Magic Kingdom?

No, you can’t book a room inside the park. The nearest hotels are the Disney resorts on Seven Seas Lagoon and Bay Lake, which Disney groups as the Magic Kingdom Resort Area: the Contemporary, Grand Floridian, Polynesian Village, Wilderness Lodge and Fort Wilderness, with their villa wings. Disney’s Lakeshore Lodge joins them on Bay Lake on July 1, 2027.

Can you walk to Magic Kingdom from a hotel?

Yes, from two Disney resorts. Disney says you can walk to the main gate from the Contemporary’s main tower and Garden Wing, and that a new walking path of less than a mile links the Grand Floridian with the park. From the Polynesian, Wilderness Lodge and Fort Wilderness you take the monorail or a boat. No hotel outside Disney’s Magic Kingdom Resort Area is within walking distance.

Do hotel shuttles drop you at the Magic Kingdom entrance?

Off-site shuttles usually don’t. Four Seasons and the Swan and Dolphin say their buses stop at the Transportation and Ticket Center. Disney’s own resort buses use a separate Magic Kingdom bus stop. From the TTC you take the ferry or Express monorail, so leave extra time on Early Entry mornings.

Which non-Disney hotels near Magic Kingdom get Early Entry?

Disney’s list includes Four Seasons Resort Orlando, the Swan, Dolphin and Swan Reserve, Signia by Hilton and Waldorf Astoria in Bonnet Creek, Shades of Green, and Disney Springs Resort Area hotels such as Drury Plaza, DoubleTree Suites and Hilton Orlando Buena Vista Palace. Early Entry gives you 30 minutes in any Disney theme park before opening, every day of your stay. Flamingo Crossings, Evermore and Celebration hotels aren’t included.

How much does it cost to park at Magic Kingdom?

At the time of writing, Disney charges $35 a day for standard theme park parking and $50, $55 or $60 for preferred parking, depending on the date, tax included. The pass covers all four theme parks that day. Standard parking is included for guests of Disney Resort hotels and of the Swan, Dolphin and Swan Reserve.

Bottom line

To be as close to Magic Kingdom as possible, book a Disney monorail resort: the Contemporary or Grand Floridian if you want to walk, or the Polynesian for monorail and boats. Among hotels on Booking.com, Four Seasons Resort Orlando and the Walt Disney World Dolphin are the closest by road: Four Seasons pairs Early Entry with a free hourly coach, and the Dolphin adds Extended Evening Hours. On a budget, Drury Plaza bundles Early Entry, breakfast and a free shuttle with no resort fee. Rates vary by season, availability and how far ahead you book. Check your dates at Four Seasons Resort Orlando.
